Son, he's what a great drummer is all about: feel, imagination, the ability to deliver the right thing at the right moment with precision, sing ... at the same time respecting his place in the music. Rare!
i remember watching this on a sunday in my house in wales, lying on the bed with the sunlight coming in throgh the blinds, wife and kids out and vod in hand.......and this sound came in to my life. thankyou to the foxes.
This might just be blatantly obvious to fans of theirs, but is it just me or is this not one of the most 1960s/70s-in-a-modern-setting performances that you've ever seen? Also, these guys are incredible live.
That's Josh Tillman. He's awesome man. If you aren't familiar with him, Google "Father John Misty." He left Fleet Foxes to start his own group. The guy is so original. Thanks for listening and commenting.
drrjim actually the band took a break he didn't just up and leave misinformed unfortunately is still informed.......most of them have side projects.....
The clip at 3:43 or so with the couple embracing was so cute and special. Really felt the mood in that moment. The flags saying PEACE give me hope for people, such a simple little thing.
I cannot stop watching this. These talented young men are amazing. I have listened to their songs over and over. Also the music of First Aid Kit. I may be 63 but I know great music when I run across it.
The more I watch this the more I realise how beautiful mistys vocals are on the drums..... That first high note he sings on the fade out 3:30...... Oh my god the clarity..... Man sounds like a bird.... Stunning
@@glenwertz2391 I had no idea he was in this band. How weird. I saw him in a Lana video& then watched part of his concert. Then I heard this song in a movie& looked it up....landed here. Pretty cool.
Oh god how I love fleet foxes. I love them so much because all of their music boosts my creativity so much. Every song they make manages to paint a beautiful picture or scene in my head, and thats something not every band can do
It's so soul soothing. The words seem to speak of a yearning, I understand it is not quite a happy song. But there is an acceptance, a strength, a love in it that is so healing.
Exactly. Fleet Foxes has been a huge band ever since and Robin was the iconic frontman. When did Father become so prevalent? At least here in Mexico he is an unknown.
My man broke out a melodica!!! The only melodica musician I can think of that was highly successful was Augustus Pablo. He mastered that instrument. This performance here is magnificent! Thanks for the post!
good stuff. listen at 3:38 the drummer is J.Tillman who is a solo folk artist. he was with the band for a few years but he's back on his own now. look him up!! great singer.
Couldnt agree more Chris. Nice picking up on the beach boys influence. If you want another band that does this with their harmonizing check out Grizzly Bear, another band with Beach Boys influences. Thanks for listening. And the comment.
Crosby, Stills & Nash played their first gig @ Woodstock in the Summer of 69..aka the summer of love. When I hear this band i hear the tight harmonies that harken to CSN. Hoping to see the FF in Brussels 11/18/17.
A lot of people probably know about this already, but his name is Josh Tillman and he (somewhat) recently left Fleet Foxes and started a band called Father John Misty, which he heads. Definitely worth checking out if you enjoy his vocals.
I stand at the ancient crossroads and ask for the good way. And we love our brothers and ourselves no matter what name we go by...even love some sisters fathers mother's daughters sons, and we definitely love the first creator of life and many different types of animals and nature like the sun and tazmain tigers
I couldn't point to any particular reason, but boy this song brings all kinds of feels! Which is to say, I love this gosh dang song! One of these days I should really check out their other music! ☺️
Oh boy, that drummer sure is talented. I really hope he doesn’t leave the band and have an incredible solo career
😂😂😂😂
He split and became Father John Misty, he had a hit. don't know if he ever came fack
♥️
@@vinceschauf9437 yeah that’s the joke I was making
What's so special about the drummer?
The drummer's vocals are AMAZING.
little did we know....
is J. Tillman, Father John Misty
@@ferlame yes
I once saw Father John Misty live (the drummer) and he has one of the best voices I’ve ever heard live
Of course, it's Papadum Crispy.
This looks and sounds like 1973.
Can you give some examples of folk music like this from the 70s? Thanks

nobody can resist the delights of Josh Tillman
They were too good for him. I can NOT believe he's making it as anything but a comedy routine... he's compared himself to Dylan...! Help me lord!
Hard to believe they can sound this good live.

We have Jesus Christ on drums, Miles Teller on vocals, and Michael Cera on guitar
I spent a couple minutes trying to find this video just for your comment. I don't know why i laughed so hard when i first read it.
Fucking LMAO
Michael Cera hahahahahahaha
Robin totally looks like WWE's Daniel Bryan here

I saw them live years ago in a tiny town in northern California. Best show!
Soundwise, not concertwise, I think Fitz and the Tantrums have that vibe too
@Colm m What exactly is fake about it?
I lived through that time. These guys brought me back to the 60's and 70's ... shades of "America" and "The Eagles".
Crosby Stills and Nash with Beach Boys harmonies
Father John mistys groove while playing the drums is the sexiest thing I’ve ever seen! And His vocals are heavenly!
I always go back to Josh Tillman’s outro harmony. Love the FF. TIMELESS.

I miss the times like these, when the summers were summers and the earth and everyone looks so perfect, and fleet foxes will never get old.

pretty good drumming for a famous singer

This song reminds me of my best friend, so peaceful. Hope he is doing great in Chicago!
