Amen brother! Your point on stitching is spot on...stitching isn't just a means of holding your piece together, but rather a design element. Irregular stitches turn a $350 product into a $60 product and the customer can make that differentiation in only a second or two. Thanks for the advice!
This man is Wonderful. So informative. He makes me feel like he cares, the way he talks. And funny too. Don’t drink your profits away, invest in a camera. Lol. A lot of people don’t know if you take a picture with your feet in the photo, straight to jail.
Just found you today... First time I have ever been able to sit through a video without wondering "when are they going to stop talking", and was wishing it wouldn't end. You put it out there like it is which I appreciate so much. Can't wait to go back and look through everything. Thank goodness for not going to work anymore....
EVERY WORD YOU SAID IS TRUE! I’ve been lucky enough to have a few bags sell and through word of mouth, I’m run of my feet making bags. Heavy duty leather totes seem to be working for me. Last trip to Japan people stopped me to ask about my bag. (My stuff up, I didn’t have a business card to give) My designs are what got me started, I have a few of your patterns for myself and I’m studying your work to figure out different ideas and techniques. Great advice Thanks Tony
Translate Google I loved your advice, but you forgot one: "Develop your own style". Besides, this is one of the things I admire most in your work, your style! Greeting from Quebec !!!!
I have been telling people for years, clear, crisp pictures, with ONLY your project in the shot, is the most important thing you have to sell your stuff!! Since they are not in your shop looking at your items, your photos are the only thing you have to show the world what you are selling!! Use it wisely!
Than you for saying that. As a professional photographer, people don't seem to understand what you said. Love the way you shoot from the hip said like it's real
First time watching this leather worker, and he speaks the truth, only one point left out Confidence, what's the worst thing you don't try you don't sell. Great video big thanks. Bob.
Thank you. I got into leather making a few months ago, purchased a good amount of equipment, a few types of leather, and built a nice workbench to work on. #3 - stitching: I think I have it down. Well, the double-stitch, at least. MY PROBLEM: I just want to grab a leather and make something from my head: a phone case, knife sheath, journal cover, etc., BUT NEVER HAVE A PLAN. I end up with a good product until I realize I forgot to stitch a button that is now is a near impossible to reach place, or used the wrong grain direction, so it doesn't pull right, or make it 1/4" too small/short...whatever. I need to work on #1. I needed to hear that. Thanks.
Honestly the best channel about leather work , I've learned so much in just a few videos, you go straight to the points each time , in full details and you make everything so clear. Definitely made me want to pursue this craft. Keep up the amazing work!
Great advice, Tony! Stitching was a weak point for me as a beginner, but your advice is spot on... the number of resources, both paid and free, is amazing. Thanks for the good stuff here.
I've spent some time looking for some kind of inspiration...I have an oddly shaped piece of elk (very soft) to use. I kept running into time wasters, telling us really stupid things, like how to sort your scraps, idiotic little things to do with your scrap, etc. A couple of days ago, I'd run across a Dieselpunk.ro video, which I found both fun and informative...but I had forgotten, until I saw this in my feed after watching the most recent infuriatingly useless video. Now, I'm feeling much better, and have actually learned a couple of things, including one thing that wasn't even mentioned as being something to learn (using needles to keep the holes lined up). Makes me very glad I subbed after I watched the first one I found. Even if I wasn't into leatherworking, I'd enjoy watching this man do his thing.
I am just starting , like your videos and the way you tech and even can have a good laugh at the same time , thank you for not be as boring as many out there , thank you
I am just starting out with leather as a craft and I have the leather bug I'm well and truly bitten lol I did want to suggest this as an idea I started testing my patterns by using some leather I cut from an old leather sofa we were getting rid of it is a great way to get a testing resource that costs you nothing you can also get hold of old leather chairs from second hand shops to cut up and reuse for testing at very low cost 👍
hahaha!! "you don't have to know leather to see a product that has a bad stitch and say OK he doesn't know what he's doing. Love this video. New subscriber. You are very funny my friend.
I first started leather to make knife sheaths ,I was lucky the buyers were focused on the blade ,my veg tan stamping and stitching was a add on ... and that got me into learning more So i started making friends wallets for cheap out of leather coats from thrift stores , made a shaving bag and now I'm trying randoms .. I make my first anything now from coats and if everything is proper I do it on new leather and any mistakes like your cardboard I make needed alterations to my design You're a good man to pass on your knowledge
Thank you for bluntly spitting out the 5 MOST important things and not giving 2fucks about whether it hurts or nah.. it is what it is, get it right and you soar. I've learned one thing about bigger brands, they DON'T compromise on anything. They go all out on design, advert,to modeling, materials and price and people will BUY. Thanks for highlighting those important facts sir👍
4 minutes into the video you just got a new SUB! I like your style brother, keeping it real, logical and to the point. Nothing is made difficult to understand or taxing.
Sir, you are not just a good teacher (not just for us because i'm sure your a re a good teacher for yourself to) you are also a great actor, but natural, i feel like i'm watching some king of Denzel mixed with some jewish accent, i don't know, just a lot of great time find you out, watching, listening of good advice. Also a romanian? Great products, great chanel!
It will be great to have a video on how to project with leather, from scratch (including how to draw template) I'm particularly interested in how to calculate the gap between the two sides of a bifold wallet
Great points, all five!! I want to start out, have this great idea to make some money sitting here at my table, where I'd be sitting anyway! Thanks for the motivation!
Good advice. I agree, the stitching will kill your product. I've seen some real crap out there on Etsy that people actually sell, and the stitching and cut leather is awful.
Hello Tony, Just wanted to let you know That I purchased and downloaded the pattern for the Pin Cushion. Wanted to start with one of your smaller patterns to see how it comes together. I couldn't wait to get started on it. Everything fit together perfect. And the patterns are definately reasonably priced. Thank You!!!!
Great stuff! Man I can't stop watching your videos. I'm learning leather, obtained a few tools and have been working on my stitching. Which by the way is simple enough, but the technique and staying consistent is the challenge at the moment. I have order the hole punching irons that you have reviewed. ( the inexpensive ones ) I will take your advise on reviewing stitching. If you have any cruise advise, that would would be welcome too!
An excellent point about proper pictures. And PAY for photography? What a concept ;) (Photographers get tired of being asked for favours by friends, or being told they'll get paid in "exposure"). The first time that I was asked by someone to do product shots for his website, I used what he paid me to invest in a light tent. I now own two and, when I want to take very good quality shots of something, one of them comes out. A piece of advice: Some cameras on phones are adequate to take reasonably good, basic product shots these days *IF* you have adequate lighting. Light the scene well. Don't have a good set of colour correct lights that you can use? The Sun is free. Do *NOT* under light your subject piece and do *NOT* use lighting that has a colour cast to it.
I'll sign off on all this stuff except the phone camera. Over the past couple of years phone cameras have gotten stupid good, and the newer iPhones come with photo manipulation software, and you can get free stuff for Androids. The rest... preach it brother.
Never truer words spoken Tony, tbh having a bit of a crush on you right now and I'm a straight man lol! Gonna take your very wise words and advice and use it. Thank you!
Amen brother! Your point on stitching is spot on...stitching isn't just a means of holding your piece together, but rather a design element. Irregular stitches turn a $350 product into a $60 product and the customer can make that differentiation in only a second or two. Thanks for the advice!

Right to jail
Just found you today... First time I have ever been able to sit through a video without wondering "when are they going to stop talking", and was wishing it wouldn't end. Who‘d known Antonio Banderas‘ angry brother was such a proficient leather worker?
The thought of him being a cruise ship concierge is actually pretty funny.
That was pretty hilarious!
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Lol been thinking that for a while now !!
I thought the same thing and was going to comment. Glad I read first.
"That Dr. Phil bullshit" 🤣😂 this is my favorite leather channel ever! Thank you!!
I'm getting were I appreciate watching your videos more for the satirical humor and then the leather tips. Keep it up, mio amico

I loved your advice, but you forgot one: "Develop your own style". Besides, this is one of the things I admire most in your work, your style! Greeting from Quebec !!!!
Style will come, but craft.... is the key...
i’m mad that UA-cam won’t let me Like this more than once.
I was just thinking the same thing..

This is your funniest video yet 🤣 I don’t sell my leather but I still is happy to watch this until the end
Than you for saying that. As a professional photographer, people don't seem to understand what you said. Love the way you shoot from the hip said like it's real
You nailed my friend, those five points are the pure naked truth. Thanks.
I want to hear more from the voice in the background. He seems to be pretty switched on. 😂👍
I love you Tony. You have such a winning personality. I enjoy your videos because I learn and I laugh. Great combination!
Good stitching is the difference between ’home made’ and ‘hand made!’
First time watching this leather worker, and he speaks the truth, only one point left out Confidence, what's the worst thing you don't try you don't sell. Great video big thanks.
Bob.
I am very interested in trying leather working for personal use. You are an awesome instructor. Subsriber for life.
Such a good point about photography. It uplifts your product so much.
Also about paying photographers (as one).
Love the video!
I really liked the sincerity of this video and it made me feel like getting the ball rolling instead of dragging my feet like I have been thank you

"I dare you to go into any leather group and ask"
Me: *only goes into Tony's group because they are friendly*
Man, I can listen to your no-bullshit advice all day! Good stuff, thanks for the tips.
Not sure if the humor is intentional or not, but it makes for good video and excellent instruction.
Honestly the best channel about leather work , I've learned so much in just a few videos, you go straight to the points each time , in full details and you make everything so clear. Definitely made me want to pursue this craft. Keep up the amazing work!
I wish you made daily vlogs, they would be fantastic.
Your "How To Make" videos are great, but these "How To Work" videos are GOLD.
All good points and brutally honest!
Great advice, Tony! Stitching was a weak point for me as a beginner, but your advice is spot on... the number of resources, both paid and free, is amazing. Thanks for the good stuff here.

I love everything about your style and your approach to your videos, very talented leather man and actor
It will be great to have a video on how to project with leather, from scratch (including how to draw template)
I'm particularly interested in how to calculate the gap between the two sides of a bifold wallet
Use pre designs. You will find a standard gap.
You're smart... ok i got distracted, i really like the art behind you.
I use thin foam sheets to test leather patterns. works so far!
You’re a genius! 😁 that’s a great idea, hope you don’t mind if I borrow that

Good advice. I agree, the stitching will kill your product. I've seen some real crap out there on Etsy that people actually sell, and the stitching and cut leather is awful.
Motivational, Funny and from the heart. Good tips my friend.

You've got this Romanian Bernard Black thing going on.
That's a good thing.
Thank you Tony! Most of this advice can apply to anything you can make and sell. And I wish I knew this earlier!
Such great points, you M-Effer! LOL! Love your style and pizzaazzzzz!!! Keep on being awesome (now to binge your entire channel...)
- Brian + Erin
Thank you for the advice. This was a very helpful video. It’s good to hear it told straight up, and from someone who has lived it!
I enjoyed you and your hints. Thank-you for all especially your humor.
Just joined your group today. I didn’t know it existed!
thank you so much
Great stuff! Man I can't stop watching your videos. I'm learning leather, obtained a few tools and have been working on my stitching. this man is awesome. I thank you for your input..Honestly this is why I like your channel
Taking a good photo of my products is usually the worst & most time consuming part of the process.
Thank you very much for your advise sir..

The number one thing that turned my leather work from expensive hobby into money maker, was losing my day job. Kids eat.
Thanks . Very good suggestion . You are me leather hero . Especially after knowing about the ship concierge job.
I love it!!! Real talk right here. LOL
Very good advice my friend!
I'll sign off on all this stuff except the phone camera. Over the past couple of years phone cameras have gotten stupid good, and the newer iPhones come with photo manipulation software, and you can get free stuff for Androids. The rest...
preach it brother.
Good advise sir from Sikkim n learn more from u
Excellent advice Tony.
Antonio Banderas you are so funny!!! thanks pal! this helped me a lot
Lmao! "You think you got a great camera. You don't. You can't afford a camera." 😂😂😂

I can't believe how many feet I see in posts and advertisements now! arrrggghhhh, my new peeve. LMAO
Very interesting tips Tony. Thanks a lot.
Never truer words spoken Tony, tbh having a bit of a crush on you right now and I'm a straight man lol! Gonna take your very wise words and advice and use it. Thank you!
