I still cannot believe this channel doesn't have more subscribers. Even at just over 100k, the video quality and upload schedule puts some content creators with millions of subscribers to shame. From the bottom of my heart, thank you Skill Tree team. Keep on doing what you're doing, and here's to many more #scraps giveaways!
Regarding the dice pouch I have an idea. Make it little larger and put gromets on the holes so the strap can be inserted and removed easily allowing the leather to lie flat; then the inside can be printed or stamped with a gaming board, nine mans morris, chess or the like and then when you make it back into a pouch you can hold the pieces to make a travel gaming set.
First time UA-cam has thrown this chap at me and my first reaction was that he appears to be having a stroke but much to my surprise this turns out to be both entertaining and inspires a couple of little projects. Glad I found this and will watch some more. Thanks.
I fully understand the concept of not knowing what to do with leather scraps. About 15 years ago I purchased some leather scraps, and by that what I mean is I ended up with 3 yard trash bags filed to the brim with leather scraps of varying sizes. I am talking about 3 ~55 gallon trash bags with scraps ranging from a few square inches all the way up to pieces that were 2 foot by 3 foot and I paid a grand total of 50 silver coins for the lot! For anyone who is not familiar with the conversion rate of silver coins, a 2foot by 3 foot piece of leather would cost around 400-600 silver coins by it self o.O . All that being said, I have done a fair few projects over the years ranging from bags to ropes and I even made myself a leather kilt! I still have nearly 2/3 of one bag left of all the smallest scraps that I have been attempting to find a use for, and I love the book marks! I will certinaly be making one of them, I also had inspiration from the keychain project.
As someone who loves to sew, I'm imagining all these projects in scrap fabric too. But the nice thing about leather is you don't have to work about fraying edges! So fun! #scraps
When stamping letters like you did with the Keychain, I like to use a piece of masking tape as a straight edge, it's removable and is thick enough to register against the bottom of the stamp to insure an even lower edge
I'm so used to youtubers these days being full time influences that when he said his "day job" I was like woah is this channel still that small? Then I saw that yes, yes it is. Keep up the awesome work, you got big channel energy I'm sure you'll get there in no time.
@@Jaeler9I have plenty of this type of notebooks never spent more then like 10-15$ you just need to find local places to buy them rather than the internet. (Edit: spelling correction)
I've been showing my husband these videos to help him learn more about leather working! I love all the projects you do and how accessible you make them! #scraps
I know this is a year old but man, your content just keeps on giving. I'm finally hopping into some leather crafting so if you see the engagement on your videos skyrocket, it's probably me binging.
I wanted to get into Leatherwork for a few months, but I don‘t wanted to buy much leather and then it is just laying around somewhere. I can only say thank you for showing how easy you can get into Larp and costume making. #scraps
These ideas for #scraps are low-key easy enough to give a go! It's been years since I've done any leatherworking, and this makes me want to try it out again.
#scraps Also you've mentioned a few times wanting a larp cup that can handle hot beverages. Have you considered getting a metal tumbler and making a leather cover for it, it'll handle the heat plus you can remove the tumbler for easy cleaning.
I love scrap crafts. I have bags of leather scrap and fabric scrap, and there are so many things you can make from them. I especially like doing small scale models, and little scraps are perfect for that. Another useful and potentially profitable item to make from scrap leather is a little carrying case for headphones/ear buds. Keep them safe so you can listen to music on the go.
I love this! I may have to try that traveler's journal. The first leather I bought was some scraps that I fell in love with! One thing I love to do is combine leather work and crochet to get some beautiful leather and lace designs. I made a dice bag this way and it's so pretty.
As someone who works with a lot of suede and fur, I've found that the scrap is good for fantasy accents and native American style crafts. A 1" square strip of rabbit fur can be used on dreamcatchers, hair ties, masquerade masks, wizard staffs or magic wands, and even in a key chain
Coming up with new projects almost every week must be hard, but you still manage to surprise us with something new every time after all this time. That's impressive! I've been really intrigued by a lot of your projects, but haven't had the time and courage to actually try my hands on them. I hope that with the summer coming, and hopefully with a bag of #scraps under my nose, I'll finally be able to.
An easy way to step up the quality of your key chain is just to cut the tucked end to match the hardware it is meeting -- so in the case of a key ring, using a round end punch to cut a concave end to the leather piece that is tucked under and butts up against the ring will help it sit flush and allow the ring to move smoothly.
These were awesome, I’m making a little leather bracelet out of an old belt and needed some inspiration and you just delivered it, keep staying awesome
My mom was recently gifted a leather working kit with a bunch of stamps and other tools, and I keep sending her Skill Tree videos to inspire her to try it out! Maybe if we get some #scraps we can try some of your awesome ideas! Also, I owe someone a keychain that I was intending to hand paint, but this leather idea is so much cooler...
Before this channel, I had a lot of hobbies. Miniature painter, laser engraving, 3d printing, and RPG's. But thanks to all of the cool things I have seen done, I have another hobby. #scraps
My Dad just gave me his old leather working stuff and I am super excited to add some actual leather to my cosplays. And I love that you keep your #scraps , there is so much that can be made with them.
My favorite scrap leather reclaiming and reuse projects are making stacked leather handles for knives, and making rune sets. Each requires the same half inch to inch square bits of random leather. The handles are made by stacking the bits onto the tang of a knife
My boyfriend just started working with leather and his pieces have come out amazing! So finding this channel has been extra great to give him helpful tips and little projects! #scraps
I love all these #scraps ideas. I hate wasting sizable pieces and it's awesome to see what you've done. I'm thinking of some of the cool things I could do pairing leather with the crochet projects I'm in
For my simple coin/dice pouches, I find it very useful to use a simple knot and loop closure (on the end of one string tie a knot onto itself a couple times to gain girth, then tie a simple loop or slip knot to the other string) to easily fasten and remove the pouches to a belt. If you also put in another set of holes in between your current set you can also easily continue to feed your strap through and create a bag that will stay more securely closed with the added friction that is perfect for coins, though you will not be able to fully open the pouch into a bowl as easily.
Love all your projects! My first ever leather project was making a leather old notebook with burned pages. I was so naive I used antique gel dye thinking it was just normal dye that had an antique look. So it came out extremely dark color despite being “medium brown” lol. I now learned from your videos how to properly do everything and can’t wait to remake it. Just it’s so spendy to get good leather I haven’t been able to yet. #scraps
Currently working on my own leather scrap project. Everytime I end up with a scrap where I can cut a regular 5cm face triangle, I save it and put it aside. And the moment I reach 20 of those... Boom!! D20 leather dice bag! 18 triangles and fighting the urge to not keep it a real scrap project!!
Thank you for the video. I really like these short #scraps projects. They're a good way to practice and level up without spending much. Plus it's nice to make the most of the material.

The leather ring idea is great, I think I’m going to make one as a gift using a baseball stitch for a friend who likes baseball a lot. The other ideas are also great uses for #scraps I hadn’t considered before. I usually just use my scraps for testing carvings and dyes and such.

I really like this. I love the reuse, I don't like throwing out scraps from leather and other items like that. #scraps Love your videos. The kids and I watch them together. Love your work. Keep them coming
Make a dice tray by wet forming veg tan into a glass pie pan. Trim the top slick and stain. I carved the D&D logo into the bottom. Took a few hours but I freaking love it and it was easy.
Absolutely amazing of you to do this! Been watching this channel for a few years now and I have definitely made some stuff you have put on here. #scraps
Finally some ideas on what to use my tiny pile of leather scraps on, I went to school for Costume design and we had some leather projects, since they shut down the program I was able to get some of the scraps left over, they aren't all that big so the smaller ideas are great. I cant wait to see what else you come up with, these videos tickle that creative mind of mine and Cheers to another #scraps giveaway
Very cool!! I’m late to the party…didn’t show in my feed until today:(. I really enjoyed this one! Pretty much everything I make is from #scraps!! I piece together small pieces to make pouches and as closures and such. Really dig the journal cover. I make those too; I really like the elastic cord and pre-manufactured books. I sew my own cut pages into my covers. I add a pencil loop like a ferro rod loop on a knife sheath. Really dig your design. The rings are fun! I make those too! And beard ties (my beard is near Gandalf level). I used to sell at a farmers market and would sit there with my wares and sew on new projects and people could come and watch me work and customize their piece as I’m making it. Fun stuff!!
Man I love how you come up with cool tiny little products. Honestly as someone who keeps small notebooks on me at all times I love your notebook holder idea. #scraps
I am the exact same way about #scraps -- I refuse to throw stuff away if it can be used. I use some of my little pieces to make itsy bitsy books (insides are really easy to make with folded paper scraps and a few stitces + glue). Great channel!!
How fun is this? I like little projects that use #scraps like this because while you might not be able to use your handmade leather sword sheath or full harness of epic leather armor everyday, you can ABSOLUTELY use small projects like these all the time to bring a bit more fantasy flare into your day. It’s crazy how much functionality and potential a tiny square of leather and a few minutes with a knife can contain. Keep up the great work!
#scraps I have a drawer of leather. And a drawer of feathers. I bought some rivets recently to make skirt hikes for the ren fair. Now I have a bunch of new ideas to work on! Thinner leather makes much more sense for the bookmark - thick bookmarks crack the spine. I think I'll make some corner markers, and some of the more traditional "strip" style, but add a feather to the tassel for the fun of it. The triangular piece you held up at the end looks like it'd be perfect for a pennant for a tent pole.
That ring is everything 😍 I'm just imagining going through with glowing paint too, making it glow and dying it dark...goodness! You always give me such inspiration~ #scraps
HAHA! As a long time leather worker, "Aint no such thing as leather trash! " It gets really into your creative side for using the leftover bits...I have even made leather rings!
I love the leather videos on this channel--they have helped me so much in my own journey of figuring out how to make cool looking things from leather. It is awesome to have some ideas for using up those #scraps !
#scraps I really liked the bookmark idea, I'm going to have to try and make a few for myself and some of my close friends. I tend to have a some good scrap pieces that i dont know what to do with more often than not. I recently gave a good friend access to my scrap pile and let them take what they wanted. Theyve made some really nice things from them. In short scrap leather comes in clutch. Love it
You sir never fail to surprise me when it comes to your other working. I have known about some of these ideas but not all of them or about how to create them because I've had some of the same it's so very. Smart move sir #scraps
These ideas will be perfect for procrastinating the final steps of my spaulders! The chrome tan ones look especially fancy! Dice bags make great gifts for dice goblins, of course. Congrats on 100k, here's to the next milestone! 🍻 #scraps!
Exactly the kind of project I needed. Can't afford to get new material every time I want to make something, so it's really great to have options that make use of the #scraps.
The little bit of leatherwork skill I have, has been greatly enhanced from watching all his project videos. I always look forward to see what skill he is going to work on leveling next. #scraps
I have been binging on your videos for a few weeks. I LOVE the stuff you make! I'm currently in the middle of making my own Golem, Staff of the Wanderer, and armor! ❤ #scraps !

I am the exact same way about #scraps -- I refuse to throw stuff away if it can be used. I use some of my little pieces to make itsy bitsy books (insides are really easy to make with folded paper scraps and a few stitces + glue). Great channel!!
Always like seeing the new and creative ways you bring your ideas to the real world! #scraps
#scraps I've wanted to get into leather work for ages, big fan of jackets and such, but I think this channel has really helped push me into action
Every basement needs a fountain😂
I love your ids so much and it is a pleasur to watch you.
That ring is everything 😍 I'm just imagining going through with glowing paint too, making it glow and dying it dark...goodness! You always give me such inspiration~ #scraps
HAHA! As a long time leather worker, "Aint no such thing as leather trash! " It gets really into your creative side for using the leftover bits...I have even made leather rings!
figuring out what to do with #scraps is honestly one of my favorite things to do. Great video!
Always instant click when I see Skill Tree pop up in my subscriptions, Love all the projects and ideas here! Definitely a good way to use up #scraps !
I love the leather videos on this channel--they have helped me so much in my own journey of figuring out how to make cool looking things from leather. It is awesome to have some ideas for using up those #scraps !
Me, watching this without a single piece of scrap (or nonscrap) leather; yes, amazing, i will do all of these! To the leather store!
#scraps
I really liked the bookmark idea, I'm going to have to try and make a few for myself and some of my close friends.
Smart move sir
#scraps
These ideas will be perfect for procrastinating the final steps of my spaulders! The chrome tan ones look especially fancy! Dice bags make great gifts for dice goblins, of course. Congrats on 100k, here's to the next milestone! 🍻 #scraps!
I watched your channel through my shoulder recovery and now I’m gonna make my own larp gear since I can play again
Haven't played with leather work in years, your vids make me consider trying again. Another ADD interest... #scraps
I have been working leather for just over a year and keep all my scraps too! Thanks for the ways to use up my scraps. #scraps
I think the ring idea was so creative and love all of the things you've done with #scraps
Exactly the kind of project I needed. Can't afford to get new material every time I want to make something, so it's really great to have options that make use of the #scraps.
Always nice to see people appreciate and find a use for what others would throw away and see as garbage. #scrabs for the win
The little bit of leatherwork skill I have, has been greatly enhanced from watching all his project videos. I always look forward to see what skill he is going to work on leveling next. #scraps
I don't know if grian (the UA-camr) made the idea, but (insert word) 2 electric boogaloo. Is my favorite phrase.
These are some great ideas, loving the no waste mindset. I'll definitely be trying all these out soon! #scraps
I have been binging on your videos for a few weeks. I LOVE the stuff you make! I'm currently in the middle of making my own Golem, Staff of the Wanderer, and armor! ❤ #scraps !
