This is true...in alot of instances but definitely not all. 5000% is def a over reaction. 70% is more like it. A ton of the most popular games on the 3ds are stuck there. Esp with its dual screen.
I think availability is the only thing that matters. If you can't buy a new (not preowned) copy of a game anymore, then I see no moral issue in downloading through less legitimate means. Preservation of software is more important than who has the rights to a 10 year old game they're no longer making money from. Having said, that, I generally would rather just pay to have a genuine copy, or digital port.
I highly recommend people homebrew their 3DS and try to acquire a "New" 3DS as the prices are already skyrocketing. It is generally better than the original 3DS, with better processing power and 3D functions. It is also a straightforward process to homebrew your 3DS.
I love my Wii U, I bought the special Wind Waker edition back in 2014 I think and I even played Breath of the Wild on Wii U. I think it’s a much better game on the Wii U because the game pad works as your map at all times. That’s just my personal preference. Rayman Legends is another game that is superior on the Wii U. The gamepad works really nicely on that game.
as someone squeamish about pirating stuff, my philosophy is this: If I purchased it at some point in the past I don’t feel bad for pirating it, if it’s totally unavailable I don’t feel bad about pirating it, but I might buy it if it ever gets a rerelease.
I still have my Wii-U and its kinda frustrating how it was trashed unfairly. Without the Wii-U, the Switch would NOT exist. And my Wii-U game recommendation would be "Zombi-U", if you like survival-horror.
Artists create art, we the people consume art with our minds and hearts. Distributors and """owners""" of art are merely middle men. They should not own us.
Pikmin 3 was fun, though not as good as pikmin 2 in my opinion. But my favorite Wii U game was the Windwaker HD , primary for nostalgic purposes, just all around fun one. As far as original Wii U games are concerned, Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze. I still want to play twilight princess on the Wii U . That is still my favorite Zelda game today
Super Mario Maker on the Wii-U is definitely my preferred way to play SBMaker. The lack of touch on the Switch really makes it more cumbersome to make levels. However without the online community aspect of it your just really getting half the experience.
I was really about to FOMO drop a couple hundred on 3DS eshop, but after compiling a list and clicking on purchase to add up the price of taxes, realized that I didn't have enough memory for the downloads I wanted as I never upgraded my SD card. I suspect Nintendo's next gen console will revolve more heavily around digital software and online services, so many titles will likely make their way there eventually.
Totally agree with your opinion on Star Fox Zero. I bought Guard separately from Zero as I enjoyed it FAR more when I played the demo through the eShop. The controls for Zero were terrible and I felt that Guard was an original game that implemented the gamepad in much better ways. I would have sold Star Fox Zero without any thought or regret if buying Guard separately wasn't an option.
I bought an eshop card a few weeks ago, so I could buy a few more games before the eshop store closed, , I put the code into my account & it said it wasn't servicing it anymore. But that's not what it said online at the time. Oh well , maybe the eshop card will be worth something in the future. I actually just tried it again, to check if it was a software issue on their side. It still says " Funds can no longer be added for the Nintendo 3DS family of systems" . I know they said credit cards would no longer be accepted, that's why I bought the card. So being able to purchase a game is all well & good , but what good does that do for you if you can't use their special currency via eshop card to buy the game.
Not sure if its relevant but be sure your DS account ID and your nintendo account share funds, then add the funds to the nintendo account. Theres some guides on this.
Wonderful 101 is thankfully available on other platforms now. Switch, PS4, and PC (also Luna, technically). Some drama around the kickstarter for it has come and gone, but I've still got my launch copy from the original release and think I'll grab another at my convenience. Having a multitude of options takes the pressure off.
Just got SuperStar Saga+Bowser's Minions, Bowser's Inside Story+BowserJr.'s Journey, Dream Team, Dual Destinies, and Apollo Justice. Unfortunately, I ran out of space to get any more games.
@David Stewart It is sad, though, that this bit of Nintendo's history is going away. I guess at the end of the day, I bought as many games as I could, and who knows, maybe one day these games will make a return.
Also check out review videos of any games you thinking of getting or download and play the demos. I was making a list because of the closing but after checking those two options I just listed I dropped a lot of what I had on that list making my "narrowing it down" part easier. I was afraid to miss out so now I still kind of have that feeling but am making spare to time to look up the games to see if they got other ports or if they are even worth it.
Games that were ported to other platforms that had the support of the game pad don't have those features on other platforms. Fatal Frame Maiden of Black Water is a perfect example.
Ethically pirating is wrong. This is proven by the intellectual joy we feel in formulating arguments to justify pirating. I pirate myself. Usually old stuff I can't get anywhere else. Which is how I justify it. But the fact that I have to justify it shows that I know some part of it is wrong. I feel no guilt. But again, the absence of guilt is not an argument. Taking a copy of something that does not belong to me without the original owners consent is intellectual theft. A type of plagiarism. I take "credit" for something I have not purchased with money or my own creative powers. It's ethically wrong. But the ethical "cost" is miniscule to the benefits of pirating.
The reason Nintendo is closing these eshop stores is cause nobody’s complaining to much about it you saw what happened when PlayStation was going to close the PS3 and abd PS Vita store gamers complained enough complaints to save those 2 stores from closing I don’t think to many adults these days are playing on Nintendo it’s children the adults play on Xbox and PlayStation and PC I only go on Nintendo when they get their new Zelda Mario games like years of the kingdom that’s coming out soon this year after that I’ll be right back on PS5 Xbox series X PC PS4 what Nintendo did wrong was making their consoles not very powerful second no achievements so if the games are on Nintendo Switch why would I want to buy the games on Nintendo Wii U there isn’t separate achievement sets like Xbox does PlayStation does
Also most of the people really interested in Wii U are people like me - die hard fans of the console. We already have a lot of the catalog. No need to panic.
Real die hard gamers complain to Nintendo not to close the eshop the PlayStation fans are the true die hard gamers when Ryan wanted to close the PSN stores the PlayStation fans stopped it from happening I was going crazy that year I bought over 30 digital games that sucked that was going on ebay for $2,000 and a couple of great games I was lucky not to lose my DLC for a game I bought cause it was delisted the next time I went on the PSN store but it’s safe in my library Nintendo is nothing but a poor company that can’t afford to keep their stores open the Xbox 360 store is still open
Amazed how you do so much interesting stuff and still have time to play so many games. I only manage 4-5h per week on FFXIV most of the time. And no ethical considerations here for pirating stuff Nintendo won't sell.
I got C.O.D.E name Steam at launch and another I can't remember the name of and both games are still in original packaging and I haven't opened em both coz they was the last 3DS games Nintendo did so I was thinking they might be worth millions in the future but I seen C.O.D.E name Steam for 6 bucks at local game stores 😢

Disagree about WindWaker. It is the better way to play, but the graphics with all the new effects hamper the look of it. It's still a good looking game, but dear lord the bloom is too much. Also Wonderful 101 was ported to modern systems already. They did a Kickstarter for it. You should've mentioned OG DS games you can still get phyiscally but maybe they're all scalped now.

5000% chance that they will remake anything that sold well in the past instead of making new and better entries...

I think the problem with 3DS though is that it's a very unique presentation. Unless they make a VR console the 3D effect will be lost.

You cant add the funds thru the DS store, but maybe on the website on a PC I mean, but it has to share that pool. I had to merge mine.

Very true about not rushing to get games…. I wish I watched this last night because I sent a lot of money buying used games
At 13:11 Wonderful 101 has been ported to several other consoles and PCs recently
Wonderful 101 is on Switch and PS4 and Yoshi's Woolly World is on 3DS. Great video as always though!

Nuanced and sensible. Kinda surprised, don't see that very often anymore.
Archives I find on the internet are incomplete though. The program with USB will be completely useless without the official store.
