Oh my god, this video is so informative! 4 months ago, I needed to buy a new laptop, and I had to choose between the old RTX 30s series or the new RTX 40s series GPU. I ended up choosing a RTX 4060 laptop, because I heard it uses less wattage for the same amount to graphics quality in games. I live in a place where the weather will very hot during summer time. So my main concern when it comes to laptops is the HEAT the GPU generates during gaming time. Heat is laptop's biggest enemy, and it makes your laptop dies faster. Anyways, I'm so glad I chose RTX 4060 as it is more energy efficient and it won't overheat my laptop as much.

@@pritishgourav159 Oh, I bought the "MSI Katana 15 B12V" for roughly US$1,220 (in September 2023). Now that it is 4 months from the time when I bought it, the price of this laptop may have gone down a bit now.
I was thinking about what to get since I was due to replace my laptop. I wanted a bit more horsepower than my previous 3050. So thinking about the 3070 ti, 4060, 4070. They are mostly similar when it comes to performance. So then I was thinking whether Frame Gen is something I require, I concluded that it is nice to have but not essential. Path tracing is also very specific, currently only one game. I think it's a tech that is a bit further in the future, maybe RTX 5000 or 6000 will make it more widespread in games. In the end I went with a last gen probably slightly overpriced, MSI GE67 HX (altough it was on sale).
It has an intel CPU which might not be the best when it comes to efficiency. But as an overall package it just made so much more sense to me to get a high end 2022 model than just getting a current gen lower tier model. Especially since there isn't too much difference between these 3 graphic cards.
But if you are really on a tight budget then I suggest also going with an AMD HS processor, even 7735HS and a 4060-4070, also try looking for a model with 2 NVME slots as adding is better than replacing.

@@DeepteshLovesTECH Yeah its the 3070 ti, 12800hx. I paid 1900 EUR on sale in Austria (165.617 INR). It was 3000 EUR 3 weeks ago. Prices are a bit different in the EU, the 12900HX-3080 ti model is almost 4000 EUR when not discounted, one store has it for 3200 EUR.
On the other side there is a Asus Tuf 15 with R9 7940HS and 4070 140 Watt for 1399 from Germany.
But for me the screen is essential (240hz Samsung OLED), so I probably overpaid a bit if only specs are compared.
I have also tried the Omen 15 with R7 7840hs and 4070, but the 1080p screen had a lot of backlight bleed and just didn't do it for me, was 1500 EUR at the time.
Also thermals are really good on the GE67 HX, 70-75C for both CPU and GPU. Your channel is really in-depth, glad I found it.
careful with msi raiders they have really BAD hinges. but i think in some other versions they fixed it but double check
Seeing the possibilities, i was skeptical to acquire 3080 from alienware laptop model, as to compare to 3070ti laptops, they are far more efficient in terms of heating issues and performance, nvdia also update that fix, means much stable than new models up to date 4070s and above. I use heavy rendering with 64gb ram under 3070ti, i am satisfied from, tested nanite rendering both 4070 vs 3070ti way up high temp under 4070 where 3070ti is only at 66 celcius max. So i stick with 3070ti, and worth till next year. That time i can now buy better than 4000 series

i have the nitro 5 3070Ti and i love it, most of the games run at 80~90 FPS
I have a 5800h/3070 and after using a 13700h/4060 I much prefer the 5800h/3070. Better raw power with the 1600 res screen and a lot less stutter. Only thing that sucks is the 5800h doesn't offer Thunderbolt 4 but not a deal breaker for me.

CPU and GPU won't both max out when gaming. It'll be either or. I think it's a 140W-145W combined, remaining 25W-30W for the rest of the system.
Expect GPU bound games to max out the GPU which really only needs like 90W for max performance.

Would opting for 7640HS over 7840HS for LOQ15 40608GB/16GB/1TB result in bottlenecks? There is a difference of 10k in price but the purpose is solely for gaming and light office use. No other applications would be utilised during gaming (eg. streaming). TIA
No bottlenecks. The 7640HS clocks 5GHz single and over 4.5Ghz all cores. Gaming performance should be 5% slower than 7840HS only in the most CPU demanding games.. no difference in the rest.

@@despair6633rtx 4060 is underpowered even with dlss 3. U can see multiple test video on UA-cam. There is a 10-20 fps difference in many of the game and difference get bigger with heavy titles. With fg it performs better but the latency is unplayable.
Rtx 4060 is more power efficient and better temps but rtx 3070 ti is just way better in performance.
@@RookieGamerz-3110 latency only really matters in competitive shooter games though. And both GPU are capable of giving you 200+ framerates. So it becomes irrelevant at that point tbh.

12700H with DDR4 is faster for gaming than 6800H with DDR5. Actually DDR4 vs DDR5 doesn't matter all that in laptops.
I had an rtx 2060 laptop before. And i can definitely say u don't need way too much fps for games nowadays lol.
Some games like Cities skylines 2, The last of us 1 PC are badly optimized.
So, the best graphical games to compare rn are Hogwarts Legacy, Cyberpunk etc, elden ring etc.
And nowadays ubisoft games are pretty optimized really well. So, no need to worry abt FPS in those games.
For me the biggest problem in gaming laptops nowadays is overheating.
That's why i prefer rtx 4060. Because i don't want to undervolt my laptop. Undervolting just plainly sucks trust me on this one lol
The fact is devs are struggling to fit high res textures in 8GB VRAM. Especially with UE5, where nanite model is pushing the limits of environmental details.
8GB VRAM may be fine is price isn't high, that's why I can't justify 8GB 4070 for such high prices. Infact I don't recommend 8GB GPUs in laptops costing over 120k because someone spending 120k would be using that laptop atleast for 5 years.

It's fine bro. 879 usd 4060 laptop with 7840hs is a good deal. 4060 is really suited for 1080p gaming, it struggles a bit at 1440p.

RTX 3070Ti is better for raw gaming performance as CPU is also similar.
Especially for 1440p gaming 3070Ti is clearly superior by around 15-20% but at 1080p the difference is negligible under 10%.

It depends if it's Intel LOQ or AMD LOQ. Do you care about battery lfie? Is the screen 100% sRGB or not.
Overall the Omen 3070Ti is slightly better than Intel LOQ imo.
The ideal LOQ is 7840HS + 4060 + 100% sRGB.

hello , I have lenovo loq the highest spec version and I had reapplied thermal paste to reduce temps more before temps were averaging 75c to 80c but now they are going over 90c for cpu and for gpu 85c any idea what i did wrong?
well you did the worst thing you could do , under 80c is fine temp for gpu, 87c is the temp where gpu start to throttle ,
I'm guessing you didn't mount the heatsink perfectly and is most likely this is the case because even if you have used shitty thermal paste it should work fine for few days or months
and remember you won't find the factory paste that came reapplied with LOQ in india
btw factory thermal paste name is ( PTM7950)
To resolve your issue you might have to repaste again and this time watch some video on how to mount heatsink after repaste
Some uneven contact may be. Ryzen 7840HS + 4060 are incredibly efficient and perfect at balanced mode. You didn't need to do this.
May be use Gelid GC extreme and try again.
Did you apply the paste evenly? Had you cleaned the old paste properly before? Make sure to apply enough thermal paste. Ensure that you tightened the screws in a zig zag arrangement so even pressure gets applied. Also make sure to use some quality thermal paste from a reputed brand.
And why did you repaste so soon? The LOQ's normal temps are 75 to 80 degrees on the 4060 and 90 on the CPU. Lovelace and ryzen might be efficient, but they will run hotter in the LOQ cause its got cheaper cooling.

Which one should you get between, legion 5 pro 6800h rtx 3070 or omen 16 6800h rtx 3070ti, does the ti in omen performs equal to the one in legion's intel one, and doing that consistently, plus i am looking for 1440p gaming, and 60 fps or above in all story games except some like AW2 Lou 2 etc.
Omen 6800H 3070Ti does outperform the Intel + 3070 at 1440p Ultra. 6800H does create some CPU bottleneck but still the 3070Ti pulls ahead.

Go for Legion 5. 4060 is easier to cool, has official frame gen support and has larger and longer battery life.
No difference in Adobe programs. 4060 does have support for AV1 encoding in Resolve. Premiere is yet to add AV1 support. 3070Ti doesn't support hw AV1 encoding.

Buy lenovo loq ryzen model only man. I got the acer laptop and the benchmarks never match with those shown by youtubers like venom tech and others. The problem is that acer has purposefully gimped the laptop performance as the cooling is not enough to run the intel 12650h at full power (if bios V2.05 the gimped settings are already applied). I have learned my lesson never go for intel 12th gen/13th and acer nitro laptop combo, worst part about it is the after sales service as whatever warranty given is void if you upgrade parts by yourself.

NVidia Reflex was introduced with RTX 3000 series so the only difference is FG. Also 3070ti is on par with 4070 in terms of performance so this comparision makes me laugh. Who would want some 4060 over clearly better 3070ti? Dlss and FG even with Reflex make most competetive games unplayable so it's single player feature most of the time.

The 3070Ti is 13% faster at 1440p and 8% faster at 1080p while 4060 is 60% more efficient. Efficiency double important in laptops.

I'd compare 3070ti vs 4070 as it may be upgrade worth money spent. Prices of new 4000 series laptops are quite insane and often you are paying also for 13th gen CPU so in EU problem is with avialiability of 3070ti which makes their price high. Laptops with 4060 prices are similar to older ones.
The only feature you are paying for with 4000 series is FG. Check specs and you will see that new cards are hardly an upgrade worth money.

Really nice and detailed comparison but I just want to point out that the acer Nitro 5 has only 45% NTSC display and loq has 100%srgb
I find it hard to believe that a manufacturer made a 15.6 inch panel with a 2560x1440 resolution, 300 nits and 165hz but with a limited color gamut.
HD/FHD panel with 45% ntsc exists.
FHD panel with high brightness but 45% ntsc is very common.
FHD with 250 nits but 72% ntsc is very common, we see it in almost every budget monitor.
But a QHD 300 nits 165Hz panel with 45% ntsc... never seen.
Anyways in our group we have screenshots from Acer themselves claiming 100% DCI-P3 and their database screenshots with panel model number.
But whatever.

Notebookcheck reviewed the nitro 5 with the 12700h and the same 1440p panel. Its got 85% adobe rgb and 100% srgb coverage. So its a upper midrange panel.
😅😅😅people think once new gpu gets released the laptops of old gpus prce will go down .. but nope.. the company knew that it would be a loss for them so they discontinue the manufacturing of that products which makes their pieces to go MRP that means in 2022 if you buy 3070ti laptop for 1 lakh even though if its MRP is 1.4 lakh. Yea that's pretty much the case. As a product they are discontinued. Even desktop cards are discontinued bro. That's the way it is. They don't manufacture these cards anymore - after all they pay Samsung/TSMC for this.
But good thing is RTX 4060 has been really good value for money quite early in it's life cycle. You can get full power 4060 laptops at as low as 80k vs RTX 3060 140W laptops were over 120k for a long time!

Neither is properly future proof due to 8GB VRAM limit. But I would choose the 4060 between the two.
Good comparison. Though, I'd like to add a different perspective to a few points.
The 4060 is efficient is because its a 4050ti. I mean it uses an AD107 die, the same as the 4050. No xx60 class gpu on laptops 1060 onwards used the xx7 die. Do you REALLY want to pay 100k for a 4050ti?
I'd say the 3070ti is a bit more than 13% faster. Closer to 15-20% if you see the PC support and gaming test comparison between the 4060 and 3070ti, there was a significant 15-20% performance gap between the GPU's.
Ryzen runs hotter than intel. At minimum as hot as intel. And ideally you'd want the 7840HS anyways since the 12650h would edge out the 7640hs. Whereas the 7840hs is closer to a 13700h, which itself isn't much better than a 12700h.
Frame generation also needs higher base frame rates. So while the 4060 might have DLSS + FG, its latency might be too much at 1440p due to it not having enough frames. Might pose a issue later on too. As for artifacts, FSR's blemishes will be far less noticable on the extra sharp 15' 1440p panels these laptops pack. Reason HUB and others say its worse is they're using a larger display with lower PPI. Easier to spot blemishes. You yourself said FSR
With games like cities skylines making the 4090 struggle at 1080p to get 40fps, alan wake 2 requiring a 3070 for 540p 60fps gameplay, CP2077 still not being that greatly optimized, etc. do you REALLY require upscaling and frame generation? Because the games that require these technologies to just run the game, are so demanding, even a 4060 will struggle. And if I'm being honest, is it even worth playing these so called new PC releases? Games like lies of P are excellently optimized as they don't need upscaling. Same with armored core 6. Bauldur's gate 3. Point is, great games tend to have good optimization, thus not requiring upscaling, let alone FG.
The 4060 can also run hot. The lenovo LOQ runs the 4060 at similar temps to the 3070ti. Maybe slightly lower.
I don't see the 115w 4060 as good value in the LOQ. Especially when the 75w 4050 nitro V and 105 to 115w 3060 gigabyte G5 are available at 70-75k. That, is a significant price drop. I know, they're weaker with less vram BUT it is much cheaper.
RTX 4000 provides such a bad upgrade over the rtx 3000, that it baffles my mind. Pascal had a large node shrink and literally doubled maxwell's performance. Lovelace, being in a similar spot fails at this. It fails at even beating ampere's upgrades over turing on laptops.
So just buy last gen, save money and forget these software updates and hold on till rtx 6000 for a proper upgrade. Thats why I went with 3070ti. Screw paying nvidia for a glorified software update. They even fail the basic expectation of the newer product being faster with the rtx 4070.

You bought the 3070Ti not because of these points but by Acer's grace that they dropped the price by a big margin and all your points make sense only for the Nitro 5 3070Ti which has it's own cons. It doesn't matter what or how the 4060 is made, as long as it is not overpriced.
Efficiency is 10 times more important on a laptop than on a desktop where it doesn't make any sense to buy a 4060.
Both 3070Ti and 4060 are limited by 8GB VRAM and that's the end of it. I would rather take FG and far better efficiency over getting a few more frames at 1440p. Heck you can run at the 4060 by limiting it to 75W and still get extremely good performance.
And don't compare Ryzen vs Intel in terms of thermals, the sensors are different. Plus at 45W the 7840HS in the LOQ with low fan is as fast as the 12650H in a screaming Nitro 5. The power curve is more suitable for AMD at lower power levels. Temps are excellent and performance is too.
Battery life too is a plus on the Ryzen machine, ekes out 6.5hrs of video playback on UA-cam.

Why do we want more efficiency? For lower temps and better performance. When the LOQ hits similar temps to the nitro 5, and gives less performance, whats the point of that?
And the nitro gets about 4hr vs LOQ's about 5. Not a massive difference.
FG uses more vram. 8gb won't be cutting it for long and already faces issues.
And you can heavily undervolt the 3070ti to lower temps and still get good performance too.
And yet both CPU's still hit about the same temps at the end of the day. Its still reporting the same temps.

Its got ddr4 ram on this particular nitro.
And its charger is a bit big. But you can buy a smaller usb c charger.
Honestly those are its only flaws I can say. Sure its plastic but build wise its quite alright. No hinge issues either.

Acer Nitro 5 hardly 2 hours if you forget to turn off the optimus.
Definitely go back to iGPU.. battery will be dead in 90-120 mins if Nvidia GPU is active. This is common for all laptops. The dGPU being active adds atleast another 20W to the power draw from the battery.
