  • This is my first ride on my new Anakee Wild 50/50 tires to the Cocura Valley and Sakento in Colombia. This is not a review of the new tires, not yet anyway, it's just a ride out to do the mandatory 100 miles or so to break them in for the many adventures that lie ahead!
The BMW 750 GS came with Anakee III 90/10 (on-road/off-road percentage) as standard, which are good tires, but I needed to have some off-road grip, so I have switched them for the Anakee Wild which are 50/50.
It seemed perfect to ride to Salento and the Cocura Valley which is a mix of city, highway, mountain and dirt roads.
Join me for the highlights and take a look at the scenery of the famous coffee region of Colombia.

Yeah. Beautiful country. Shame Netflix only do shows about it's violent past. Nothing at all like that now. Just stunning scenery and lovely people. And great motorbike routes!!!

I had no idea Colombia was so beautiful , thanks for showing those huge palms , nice valley , and those new tires. I bet they liked that dirt road . I got some Forma boots thanks for the tip . I have them on now wearing them in.

Thanks, David. Yes it's a beautiful country and the Cocura valley is really stunning. I should have mentioned in this video actually about hiking in my Forma boots. Perfect for that too. Great grip in the mud and so comfortable. Glad my previous mention of them helped. Thanks for watching.

Thank you for speaking so beautifully of my native land, love BMWs also, and love seeing others explore Salento in this way.

Ah the bike looks awesome with the new tires on 🔥 And it’s was good that the rim was able to be repaired.

Yeah, the guy did a great job. Sometimes the best mechanics and tradesmen have a simple corner garage. Tyre fitting, rim repair and paint job equivalent to $60. Probably four times that in a BMW workshop! And yes, tires look great, thanks.

@@MotoBrit Yes definitely the smaller workshops are definitely better than the bigger. Bigger workshops change spare parts and smaller workshops repair broken parts. The BMW workshop probably have sold you a new rim not repaired the old one.
When you got the dent in the rim what kind of road did you ride and what air pressure did you have. I know that a lot of people air down the tires on gravel and dirt. That will of course increase the risk to injure the rims. But even with normal pressure there’s a big risk with alloy wheels.

@@JoonesAdventuresMC You're spot on, I did have aired down tyres when I hit the hole, I think about 1.8 bar in the front, when should have been around 2.2 or even 2.4. might not have been so badly damaged, but wanted them flattened out for grip on the many miles of unsurfaced roads. Probably didn't need to, and was too lazy to air back up. Lesson learnt. Anyway, all sorted now. I'll probably only flatten down for sand in future. Got a desert trip in a few months. Lots of mud and sand!!

    • @JoonesAdventuresMC
      @JoonesAdventuresMC 2 роки тому

@@MotoBrit The risk is much less in sand.
Airing down tires make a pretty big difference when riding off-road with a 4x4 car but than you drive really slow on low gear.
      Have you seen “Mototreks” ua-cam.com/video/TStBBZhzEZA/v-deo.html
they are talking about airing down on adventure bikes.
They don’t recommend it in most situations.

Just watched it. Yes it makes sense probably not too. Funnily enough, it's a habbit or rather a theory that I've adapeted from my road pedal bike, I used to do a lot of triathlons, Ironmans etc, and air pressure and increasing tyre width are factors that can either help or slow you down, depending on the weather. I've always thought it was necessary for motorbikes too... but it's probably best just to keep them at a suitable all terrain level, which is what that video suggests, so it makes perfect sense. Thanks for the link.

Which exhaust are you running? Sounds great!

Thanks. It's a Remus Black Hawk. There's a video in there somewhere about me changing it from the stock one. Also with a sound comparison at the end.

@@MotoBrit Did you buy the Remus connection tube? I'm going to buy this exhaust for my bike.

@@scottjayson72 Yes, I got the exhaust and the mid-pipe from Ebay. There seemed to be quite a few sellers, so just shop around for the best price and location for you. Also, the installation is very easy. Good luck.
