  • Maybe you have a BMW F750GS or maybe you are wondering which motorbike to buy, or which motorbike is the best brand. Do you want on-road, off-road or a mix of the two? Well, I hope my regular input on my experience helps. Anyone with a BMW F750 GS will have received the bike with road tires, typically a 90/10 tire - and in recent years possibly the Anakee III tires. But should you replace those original tires? Here's my review after riding 50/50 Anakee 'WILD' tires for the last 2,000km.
    Contents of this video
    00:00 Introduction
    02:08 Road introduction
    06:40 Asphalt road
    11.44 B-Road Tarmac
    13:55 Twisty Country road
    17:28 Gravel road
    19:07 Muddy road
    21:25 EXTREME muddy road
    25:33 Rocky road/Loose stones
    32:32 Conclusion
    Anakee III are a good set of tires, and if you only ride on the road, in dry conditions, they will probably last you a good 10,000km (approx. 6,200 miles) - and possibly more if you're a steady rider.
    BUT... what I found, is with my preference to doing a bit of 'moderate Off-Road riding, together with sometimes having to ride in the rain, I had a dilemma for a few months on whether to switch to 70/30 tires or 50/50 tires.
    This video talks about the pros and cons, and I talk about it whilst riding on smooth asphalt, rough concrete, twisty country roads, and finally in off-road conditions (unsurfaced back roads, dry & wet mud, loose gravel and rocks.
    Hopefully the content will give you some thoughts, ideas and explanations to help you decide if you should (or need to) change your original road tires.

      +Dean Benson ... Yes, I'm currently considering the same. Most riders I know have 70/30s. I think 50/50 is a bit excessive, but I still have the same tyres from this video, and they're about due a change. So yes, I'd defo suggest a good set of 70/30s

    I've been looking for a channel about 750 till I saw yours so I subscribed. I don't have a bike nor have drove one. After I get my moto endorsement next month I'm going to buy one.i live in the states so we don't have them dirt road from town to town so about 75 percent will be road 25 on dirt road. I'll probably get alot of flack but I'm a short rider and dead st to get a 750. Might have to change seat size have it lowered as much they can. I'll probably drop it alot till I get used to it's size. I'm retired now from the Post Office I want to travel on back road secondary roads. I like your channel and informative keep up the good work I'll be follow every video be safe drive careful.

      Thanks, Ron. I appreciate the kind words. Yes, it's possible to lower the seat, I've ridden a friend's bike with the lowered seat, it's a noticable difference, so it's a good option to have. Good luck when you get the bike, I hope my videos keep you motivated. Enjoy your retirement.

    I will probably go for a new set of tires in the upcoming season but I’m not sure what tyres it will be. it’s leaning towards some ware between 50/50 an 70/30 but I still want some longevity in them. It was nice to see a review of the anakee wild. You’re absolutely right, it’s no meaning of doing a review after 50km of riding, of course you can do a first impress video but not a review. The review should almost being done when you have change to the second set of the same tyres. Than you know how it works in the way you ride, on the roads you ride. You know the longevity and you know the difference between a new set of tyres compared to a worned out set of tyres. If you starts with a new set and ride them to the end, it can be hard to compare. But if you start with a warn out set and change to new set, you notice the difference.
    How ever after a couple of thousand km you have a good knowing of the tyres.
    a fun thing, I enjoyed my first cup of coffee just when you talked about the coffee plantages 👍☕️😊. I’m sure that even though the coffee beans they make their own coffee in Columbia not is the best quality I’m sure that drinking the coffee on site in Columbia will ad a second dimension on the experience😊

    • @MotoBrit
      @MotoBrit  2 роки тому +1

      Yes, drinking a cup of coffee in Colombia certainly gives you a great feeling of connection, and to be honest, the coffee is really good, even though I'm told they send the best stuff abroad. I really felt the difference as soon as I changed the tyres, but held off doing a review until I felt it was a good time to talk with some experience. I knew that time was right when I stopped thinking about them and I was riding confidently. I've heard from other reviews that the longevity of the WILD is very good. I will feel I've gotten my moneys worth if they still feel good after 6,000km. They're very reasonably priced compared to others (equivalent to about EUR 110 for the set), so I won't mind changing to a new pair at that time if I have to. I've got some good trips planned this year, so I'll be sure to mention them in any future travel videos.

    Currently using Bridgestone a41, looking at going for a tyre more 70/30, finally having stiffer touratech springs put in on its first yearly service. And yes I'm still looking at getting my spoked wheels, hopefully in the new year once I've saved up. Currently on 5.5k miles on my current tyres, taking her to the ABR festival next year, so will be offroading her. Rather not ding my caste wheels.

    Thanks for the videos mate, picked up my second hand GS 750 a couple a couple of weeks ago. It's only got 1100km, fully optioned and l saved heaps, downsized from a 1200GS. Really happy with it. I visited Colombia in the 70's for a couple of months on an old Honda XL250, beautiful place but a bit hairy in those days. By the looks of your holiday house you're doing it tough. Cheers mate from Aussie. :-)

    • @MotoBrit
      @MotoBrit  2 роки тому +2

      +Argus Tuft ... Gday. Thanks for watching. Yeah I know a few people that have downsized for various reasons. The 750 is plenty for Colombia, I really wouldn't want anything heavier or wider that's for sure. Yeah, I imagine it was a bit rough here in the 70s. I lived in Aus for 3 years, mainly just south Brisbane near the Gold Coast. Very happy days. I miss the fishing! Enjoy the new bike, amazing to get a full spec with such low mileage... he either had a big near miss that put him off, or the wife didn't approve of it!! Ride safe!

For the short time I did, it was fine, but I'm just so used to Google Maps, I use that. Plus it syncs better with my Freecom headset and music. Enjoy your bike when you get it. Thanks again. 👍🏻

    Hey Dean,
    I saw that you have auxiliary lights on you F750GS, I was wondering what kind of mounts you used, and what kind of lights? I have been looking but most mounting hardware is more geared towards the bigger R1200s and F850s. Thoughts?

    • @MotoBrit
      @MotoBrit  2 роки тому +1

      +Max Jones ... a friend put them on for me. All I know is that the mounts are a brand called 'Givi' and the lights are just standard LED waterproof explorers. I've had a few questions about them since talking about them in my 7,500km review video. I should probably do a specific video on them and show the actual components in a bit more detail. I hope that's helpful so far anyway.

      +Carlos Huerta ... Hi Carlos, congrats on the new bike. I would say the most important new accessory is the windshield. It's also really convenient to have a tank bag. I would say the rest from there is personalisation that you do bit by bit over time. I did consider a specific video on my accessories with links, but I was a bit concerned I would look like I'm saying 'my accessories are the right ones''... and of course many people have different preferences. I'll have a think if there's anyway to do a vid like that... maybe just on ideas for new riders. Enjoy the bike when it comes, very exciting.

    hello nice videos
    I guess I missed that part but do the tires transmit any vibrations to the handle bar? & are they noisy while driving on road?
    thanks

    • @MotoBrit
      @MotoBrit  2 роки тому +2

      No, definitely no vibrations. There are some surfaces where you notice a bit of 'tire roar' more than you would on a road tire, but that's if you're at a higher speed. It's the trade-off you have to live with, but it's not too noisy. I don't notice it now, I did at first.
