BMW 750 GS - Standard features & Aftermarket upgrades

  • Hi All - This video is to hopefully help new owners, or prospective new owners of a BMW 750 GS (possibly 850 GS too) by talking in detail about the aftermarket items I added to my bike.
    Link update - Someone asked about the Navigation Mount - Here it is: amzn.to/3IQvDHm
    I've mentioned a little of this in a few different videos, but here it is all in one place so that people can say "Right, that's what comes as standard, and that's what I've got to add-on myself"
    Obviously there are upgrades from 'standard' when you start picking things in the showroom... TFT screen, auto-clutch, etc... but I've assumed everyone knows that. This is all the little things, and some big things too.
    I doubt anyone will do an exact replication of my choices, but hopefully there's a few there that confirm, educate or inspire.
    Ride safe out there.

    Yes, you're right. Changing the exhaust does improve the speed performance and also fuel economy not just in bikes, but also cars as well. It's one of the first set of upgrades stunt riders/drivers do to car/bike models intentionally.

      Exactly the same here. I trained on a F750 GS but had already ordered a CB500X. I rode that for 6 months before buying a low mileage 750 but have kept my Honda. I need to get rid of one really but I can't bear to part with the Honda CB500X as I love it. You'd think they were similar bikes and what's the point in keeping both, but they both have unique qualities which I love. Add to that the fact that 2022 500x's are suddenly rare I'm hanging on to it!

    4:43 - yes, back pressure to the engine can effect fuel burn (usually at higher revs as the air is then denser). My Remus adds 2 BHP due to this, without having to change the commander/fuel map. I just bought it for sound though tbhonest 😂🤷🏻‍♂️.

    Thanks for the video. I installed tank guards from Wunderlich this week. I’m not sure if they are necessary because I think that the engine protectors and the handle bars takes the hits. Of course if the ground is uneven you can scratch the side panels. But even if you have the protectors you can still drop the bike on a rock and damage the panels. But the tank guards looks nice 😎. I will probably go for a bash plate and a better windshield in the future and maybe also the headlight protector as well. Foldable mirrors also a good idea.
    One of the best investments I would say that the side stand enlarger is. A really small and simple upgrade but it saves a lot of trouble. Even if it’s really easy to improvise a bigger platform it’s impossible to get of the bike when you need it. 😂
    Have you never thought about handle bar protectors like bark busters?

    • @MotoBrit
      @MotoBrit  2 роки тому +1

      I keep thinking about tank bars. Even though I don't think they're completely necessary, like you said, a fall on uneven ground could be an issue. Also, I've see some cool storage bags designed for the tank bars, so that could be handy too. No, not considered handle bar protectors, but maybe I should, as they're starting to take big hits.

    • @JoonesAdventuresMC
      @JoonesAdventuresMC 2 роки тому

      @@MotoBrit Yes the tank bar can be good both for bags and camera holding and they gives a good look to the bike which also is important imo.
      And I think bark buster’s i a good thing to have. you can get them in yellow now so they will fit the 40th universes 😊 Wunderlich also have yellow tank bars but stainless would probably mach the engine bars better. 👍

      @MotoBrit  2 роки тому +1

      Yep, sounds like you'll need the bash plate. I actually got that direct from the dealer, as I bought one online and it looked like someone knocked it up in their garage. So cut my losses and paid a premium for the right one. I should have perhaps mentioned that in the vid, that sometimes it pays to just get important items that are dealer approved. Have a great trip.

      @@MotoBrit Have just purchased the bash plate from SW-Motech at 180 euros from France, as you replied lol cheapest I could find it, as it is around £240 from many other places, having watched other videos on here, a bash plate or skid plate depending where you are from, is definitely needed for the Elan Valley, will be attempting it on my Bridgestone adventure tyres, my future upgrade near the end of the year after saving will be for the spoked wheels then a 60/40 tyre choice.
