  • I used this as I've been hearing great things about it from professional decorators.I went to my local B&Q and they were all sold out of 10 litres. I bought a 5 litre and tried it out. Fantastic product. If you can get hold of a 10 litre tub then stock up as they do sell quick because a 10 litre is £28 and a 5 litre is £22. You get much more value for money on the 10 litre. It goes on a dream. Dries quick and super white. For the price it can't be beaten. It's like a professional trade paint more than a DIY store paint.

I work in the warehouse that supplies the B&Q branded paint to the stores. It comes in by the trailer load everyday. Every pallet comes from Crown paints, so I think the Goodhome stuff is probably made by Crown paints..

I think I'm going to try that B&Q stuff on my next job. Small bathroom to do. Find that so many emulsions now picture frame and leave brush marks no matter how much you try to avoid it.

Best white paint on the market. Covers the previous color amazingly well and 2nd coat is always solid white, not a vaseline white like lesser brands. Beats Dulux price range hands down. Even better than the supermatt .

Someone told me that it is made by Crown paints.

@@danielnugent2168 I,m not sure about that because Crown do have a nice Covermatt version which is almost double in price. The down side with this paint is the cleaning. It can destroy a brush unless you clean right after use and do not let the water from tap flow directly into the bristles handle down. I had had 2 brushes lock up on me and go like sludge near ferrule. Also the roller needs to be 100% air tight and after completion throw it because it was become rougher and firmer. So they obviously add something to this to make it so potent. Also which is quite strange is that the instructions sau only stir it gently. I found that quite odd for a water based product, maybe you can explain that?

@@mandyg.3004 Because its durable they add things like ceramic etc to make it tougher and scrubbable. I use small freezer bags for the roller sleeve and brushes and when I've finished the job always wash the kit out. A good tip is to use hair conditioner after washing it in water and don't use hot water as I find that the roller and brush do harden. You can add Floetrol to the paint to keep it a bit more wetter for longer. Its a conditioner for paint so your brush and roller won't suffer the harshness and quick drying of the durable matt. Cheers Dan

Hi mate, I'm decorating my bedrooms and living rooms out. I've used a contact matt for mist coat. What paint do you recommend for walls and cielings. Want it brilliant white low sheen flat and smooth. Thanks Pete

I would use Anti Reflex 2 by Tikkurila on the ceiling and optiva 5 durable matt by Tikkurila on the walls. You can order direct from thier website or Kent Blaxhill Decorating Centre stock it. Crown do Covermatt for ceilings and Clean Extreme durable matt for walls. Dulux do supermatt for ceilings and diamond matt for walls or durable flat matt.
Mcphearsons is also good. They do Eclipse for ceilings and Durable Acrylic matt for walls. The Goodhome paint in B&Q is discontinued now for some reason and it was their best seller.
      Cheers Dan
