More than a few surpises at our Missions. While in The Military and training at Camp Roberts, by Paso Robles. We did a lot of scouting around. At Mission San Miguel, a tourist had dicovered a find, an old grip and top of a sidearm. My Sargent, who is a very learned weapons expert, looked at it and declared it to be an old cheapo pistol from a lesser known name...but he nailed it, as past visitors from Camp Bob had declared the same more than a few times earlier. And that's what the Mission Docent told us...very, very cool!
Angie Thompson they are amazing. You would need to drive to the ones in the middle of no where to get that old times atmosphere of the missions. Overall had a great experience learning and seeing what each mission went through.

On the SF side of the bridge there is 3 options for routes, don't go the way he did through downtown if you are wanting to pass through quickly. Either quickly exit right and head the scenic route towards Ocean Beach or for even faster take the next exit to go along 19th Ave, both will put you closer to Hwy 1. First taking you to the Great Highway then connect to Skyline Blvd then 1, the 2nd being 19th Ave turning into Hwy 280 then take the 1 exit in Daly City to head up hill then down to Pacifica.....I live near Pacifica/SSF/San Bruno

Does anyone remember the short run TV series “Then Came Bronson” ? It was filmed along the California Coast and in the opening scenes of every episode it featured the Bixby Bridge. There’s a few episodes of that series here on UA-cam. It aired in the 1960’s.
In 1983,that time I was 26,I tripped from Seattle to San Diego by Greyhound bus.I visited cities of Redding and Santa Maria.Cities made me beautiful memories.I am 65 now,I wanna visit there again until I die from Tokyo,Japan.

I miss NorCal, it is so beautiful..my husband is from there and we currently live in SoCal...(yes we go to Burning Man, its a NorCal thing😉) we used to drive up that way all the time San Jose, Novato, San Francisco.... and due to the shut down and just life in general..it's been so long since we've been that direction.. I miss the Redwoods and Santa Cruz.
Best solo road trip I've taken was pacific coast highway. It was beautiful and so amazing. Take it when you can. Slept on the beach so many times and had a blast.

Live in Lompoc since 1982, been all up and down this route numerous times. Love it here, always tell everyone you don't sweat here unless you want to...but as I get older, I'm finding it a little chilly year round.

Just came back from 430 mile trip on the 101! As I have family in Santa Maria & I’m from Southern California so I love taking the scenic drive!!! Especially through Ventura county!
I live in the Tampa Bay area and have been wanting to see the west coast for a while. We have beautiful beaches here in Florida but they have cliffs and different sights to see over there. From wine country to the Mexican border and everything in between. Wow. Thank you for this. My husband and I are planning the trip in the nest year or so.

California may be the most populous state but its only ranked 17th in terms of population density. This state still has alot of open spaces to explore and get away from the crowds.
