- Do you LOVE the idea of Air Traversal in Tears of the Kingdom? (Breath of the Wild 2) Me Too! So let's talk about some ways that it could be properly done, through what means, and how are we going to acquire items like the glider and the other floating item we've seen in the latest name reveal trailer for Tears of the Kingdom? Today I discuss this and more as we delve into Air Traversal in Tears of the Kingdom.

I cannot be forgiven, for I have forgotten to include Moosh as a member of the list of air traversal methods in past Zelda games... Apology video is necessary for this disgrace... Who doesn't love Moosh!
meh the oracles companions are interesting. I was always a sucker for Dimitri, the canonical dodongo mount.
"we haven't seen link use any means of traversal to go upward in the sky at all" followed 3 seconds later by link riding a rock up with time reversal....
@@briandoe5746 saw that whilst editing and decided to leave it in for an eagle eyed viewer like yourself

I have a feeling that the green glider thing may just be an elevator of sorts with a specific path. Kind of like the floating platforms in shrines. It would be weird to have exploring the world be a sort of puzzle using various arm powers while also giving link essentially the air version of the master cycle too.
I'm really digging the idea of that being a Zonai glider! 😍
Super video bro!
Thanks bud! ❤️
I think we won’t have a fully controllable mount until the later game, as to not overwhelm players with such a ludicrous amount of places to be able to explore from the go. Because in Breath of the Wild we were limited by mountains and hills filtering where we can directly travel, but in the sky there wouldn’t be that. So, to not overwhelm players and to still allow a feeling of satisfying progression I feel they’ll limit where we can travel directly upwards by making us unlock the ability to get a bit higher using dungeons and puzzles.
Yeh, after making breath of the wild fully open, it wouldn’t surprise me if they go back and scale it back slightly since they never like to do something more than once or twice… guess we’ll have to see
I don’t even think we’ll get a mount
Because the new diving mechanic and the upgraded paraglider seem be the focus of transportation
With the patents coming out(I found the skydiving and phase mechanic patents) it seems that you would be able to glide under an island(most likely not incredibly low but within 15-30meters of the bottom) and after gliding under said island you would get the option to use links phase jump
And the only aerial combat that seems to be confirmed by patents would be using bow and arrows in different positions in the sky(using backwards freefalling and side to side aiming) and if there is a use for this new mechanic(because there probably will be) it would probably remove the need of a sky mount beside your paraglider(to not separate it entirely from the original game and keep it mechanically the same or similar to the first game since the paraglider itself has seemed to be upgraded from the patents(allowing vertical movement(its more down than up btw) as well as horizontal paragliding) and the phase mechanic will also allow you to get to the top of the island(from the ground and from under the island(directly within 15-30 meters below it)) we know that we can go vertically upwards from the ground due to a scene in the Tears of the kingdom title reveal trailer where we see a interesting looking rock with a swirl of the(what I will be calling) Zonai magic that aims vertically to the heavens and link comes down from close to that spot in the trailer
@@julien6871 well we don’t have a mount it seeks but we have vehicles confirmed so that’s basically the same thing
Pegasus is a surprising suggestion, but I LIKE IT!

For the big thing that Link is riding in the title reveal trailer, I've been calling it a mecha-loftwing. It's big, looks like a bird, looks like a machine, and Link rides it. So, mecha-loftwing. I think these will be the most likely way that we can travel through the sky for long distances. The paraglider will be for shorter distances. The only way we might get regular loftwings will be with the Zelda Loftwing amiibo.
Yehhhh, I forgot to mention that but the loft wing Amiibo is a great shout
It would be a shame if they locked something as big as a loftwing behind an amiibo. It could definitely happen, since we had a similar thing with Wolf Link in Breath of the Wild, but with the wolf - even though it was nice to have a companion - it felt like I wasn’t missing out on a lot if I didn’t have it because aside from it looking cool you can get by without it’s helpful features especially in late-game. With a loftwing, it provides huge range of motion and accessibility across the sky region, if not all of Hyrule so it would be a real shame to keep it behind the amiibo figure. On that note though it would make sense for them to restrict Loftwings to the sky barrier like in Skyward Sword otherwise they’d be too good ig
If they don’t go with the amiibo route but still want to do something similar to that they could have a loftwing or something similar as a post-game reward. This is a huge stretch but if Link got wings of his own and went full Kid Icarus style towards the end/after the end of the game that would be amazing.
I’m interested to see how that flying machine from the recent teaser works since we haven’t actually seen it move around. Will it have a range of motion like a loftwing or will it be more stiff? Will Link be able to move from the middle and move around the platform for combat? All things that will be interesting to find out.
@@koshai6521 if it is a platform for combat and stuff like that… that’d be a LOT of fun
I think Link will use that bird glider to become the next green goblin
Gigachad Link
I could see the use of updrafts being a mechanic used to traverse greater distances in the higher altitudes. Similar to what happens in BOTW when you catch an updraft while gliding near a dragon 🐉 and it replenishes your stamina meter. It will be interesting to see how dragons are included in the game’s story and how they relate to the sky islands.
We could fly on appa from avatar
I see an avatar fan... Approved
I must admit I was shocked to see that you would name the loftwing after me, thanks Triforce Trends I love you too
LOL
I doubt we can explore anywhere in the sky... BUT we probably don't have to complete a dungeon to do so.. maybe instead of towers, we have to do go specific points to travel to the sky... and once we complete the sky area, we can warp back to that sky area.
It’s honestly a tough issue to tackle… excited to see how they handle it
@@TriforceTrends Tis a shame we couldn't fly down from the Divine Beasts in BOTW.
We are going to fly into a delay!
The more jokes you make, the less likely it is... Keep doing it
I think if they do something like Loftwings, they'll only allow them to be used above the sky barrier, just like in Skyward Sword.
That way you can still use horses to travel underground without them just being entirely outclassed by our big bird friends.
Oh yeh I’d hope so, they’d need some sort of balancing like that
I hope there is no sky barriar and that you can just see, lesly go from sky to ground
@@KeinNiemand
Oh I'm sure that you will be able to go from sky to ground with no issues, but they'd need something in place to balance loftwings if they still want horses
Damn, I would love to skim the water while riding a loftwing
I feel like that gliding elevator thing is just a loading screen in disguise💀
Yeh that wouldn’t be too out of the realm of possibility at all

“And be awarded with this flying slate, which is a really weird thing to say, pieces of slate should never fly!”
Cornish people: “Bet”
LMAO, was thinking about having a video of me skimming some stones on a lake surface but didn’t wanna leave the house haha
@@TriforceTrends if you have a lake nearby with good skimming slate that would be such a funny addition to a video lol
@@FakeFantum honestly the skimming slate is probably no where near good enough luckily lol
In the old games, Link can't jump because he is too heavy from the weight of his sins
Killing all of those monsters must really weigh on his mind
Awesome video!
Thanks bud!!
You fly by riding Teba in 1. Soo... y'know
That’s also a good shout!
I think they're only going to give us Long-Clawshots
That’s also a great idea
You missed the best flying mount in series, Moosh!
HOW DID I FORGET MOOSH NOOOOOO
I could be forgiven for Zelda 2 but not moosh
Does anyone know the location of the new patents that have been coming out specifically pertaining to the freefall mechanic?
I don’t sorry! Hope someone can help you find it
Loftwing pls
Yes we need Loftwings.
