Chorus:
On a Sunday morning sidewalk
I'm wishing Lord that I was stoned
'Cause there's something in a Sunday
That makes a body feel alone
And there's nothin' short of dyin'
That's half as lonesome as the sound
Of the sleepin' city sidewalk
And Sunday mornin' comin' down

Who’s here listening to this in 2024?
Me!
I’ve been listening to all of these guys even before they started the highway men. They are awesome!!!
I do!
I guess I'm still and will
I have lived my 75 years with these legends as my inspirations, thank the lord for allowing me to share my time with these legends!!!
Here’s to all of us who are still listening to this 2030
The look in Kristofferson's face while Cash is singing is the same face in we all fans
I'm 60yo and never had a sip of alcohol in my life but still can feel their pain...
This is not about drinking, it is about loneliness, it's about missing the simple joys of life, it's about honest reflection, it's about vulnerability that Kris captures so well in many of his songs
But the drink causes all these issues.... snowball effect 🍀✌️with out alcohol maybe we wouldn't have all the great songs🤔catch 22
You are right. Are you lonely as much as I'm
They don't make music like these guys did.
It took Kris Kristofferson to write one of the best songs and The Highwaymen to make it golden forever.
This song was probably the best song 🎵 Chris ever wrote. Johnny came together and recordrd one of the most heart felt ♥️ song 🎵 rver done. It all came together with Johnny waylon chris and Willie. 1 of the best country songs 🎵 ever recorded. Lord how we miss this band.❤
There are probably 5 or 6 songs Kris wrote you could say that about
@@harryb7402 Plus some of the best from Willie, Gosh, what a combination of talent.
Awesome REAL LIFE Song- I like THE PILGRIM-CHAPER 33 too and think it's his best but all his songs were great.
Wow they were fantastic les Townsend love it all there will never be miemre like this
Boy can I relate to this song !! I drank the bigger of my life,oh how I ruined my life !! But though the Grace of God I have been sober 14 years !! My health is now failing me but I fight on !!
Keep it up. I ruined my teens and young twenties with addiction. We got this.
Wishing you well. Keep plugging.
43 yrs sober this August but the first few years (15-35) are a complete loss!! Suffering now!
@@coppershannon5433 my prayers are with you !! I’m sorry for your suffering,I myself know exactly how that feels !!
What a brave lot of fella's you all are, hope you's are all enjoying life now.
Cash's voice will never be replaced.
Hello Marty, how are you
Having a few beers and remembering my life when it was so good!! I'll be 80 on 9-11. I gave the Marines almost 5 years of my life. Toured Vietnam and lived a good life. I still love music and listening to it now. 2024. 60,70&80s.
thank you for ur service. i asm 78 all nam vets are my heroes
There is nothing better than this.
Freaking legendary, absolute perfection
It dont matter how good an Artist sings….in the Moment Johnny starts to sings…all is silence…thx God for sending us this man. Hope he is fine-thx Johnny for everthing.
Das wohl beste Konzert aller Zeiten - schade, ich war nicht dabei...
I need a time machine
I loved the way Chris showed respect to John. Very touching.
The nod when he passed the vocals to Johnny and the second one saying keep going.
And into 2024 we go and this song is still 😊
I'm 79 years old and God I miss that time in my life was so beautiful and simple we had nathing but we all had happiness thank you for the memories
I'm 73 yrs. old and i agree with what you say.
Yes, me too, 72 and still loving it!
I’m 30 and agree with you, back when we would play around in the dirt. No phones, no social media, just enjoying our simple lives
I'm 81 still love it les
June 14, 2021. Northern Germany. I'm celebrating this wonderful music right now. I do not know where to start. Thank you all guys! Greetings to all country fans around the world, Peter.
Lived in Nashville from 1982-1984 and relate to this song in more ways than one. Nit sure if it was Nashville or my life choices at the time.
As I'm drinking some beer waiting on dinner and listening to the Highwaymen and wonder how in the hell did we ever get so sideway with our world. Unbelievable. Honestly folks. Pray
Not sure that is going to help now.
Großartiges Lied für die großartige Stimme von Johnny Cash. RIP Johnny.
Still listening in 2024 real country music right here
THey will never make em like this any more- Taylor Swift may be the riches singer of all time but not the Best.
I call this performance the biggest triumph of music as a product of humanity
Keine Worte, nur Bewunderung und Erinnerung!!
seit 50 Jahren
I am listening to this beautiful song and the feeling about Sundays is so true to this day in 2024.
Thank s to UA-cam these great singers/entertainers are accessible to all ,long may it last.
I’ve lost count of the times I’ve played the music of this magnificent group of country geniuses.
Here I am. In Kenya. Out of this world...can't beat this.
Brilliant, this song reminds me of me when i was younger ,(i'm now 69) dont think it could be sung better
Kris may be THE most underrated song writer of the last 60 years. Such a genius!
hello ,how are you doing?
You got that right MARGARET
Just started getting into his songs now!
If you’ve ever been drunk you know exactly what this songs about!
Yes 2024 and still love the magic music 🎶
4.6M views in a year is not enough. Don't you agree?
Utterly beautiful and utterly sad ….great four on stage… tears flowing…😢❤
It's hard for me to say one is better than the other, I grew up listening to Waylon and Johnny.
Well, there is one better than these four....he died way too early.
@@tmcge3325 who?
@@paulajay473 The one they all said was the best.....They all wanted so much to be like him. During an interview, Johnny answered a question about who he thought was the best, he answered the question quickly. I think you know, they all came up around the same time!
Legends and they didn't get the recognition they deserved
Hello Laura. How're you doing? Hope you're good.
Hi 👋 Laura, how are you doing
Well am still listening in 2023.
Will never stop listening! 😎👍🏽
Me too

I am also listening this nice song in 2023 😍
Me too. 🤣👍
I'm 98 years old and I wish I was around in the 70s and my dad died and he was still alive when I died but I got better and I have tears and this song was played at my mums funeral and this song brings tears and my dog died and I'm only 13 and love country and eastern music and my dad died and funeral and tears and dog
Love this great country singers Highwaymen
As a Canadian to me thats America.
I'm from Ireland, huge drinking and drug culture.. its sunday morning and I'm coming down.. what a song.. sometimes I feel like this song was written for me..
It was
Can you explain the lyrics pls for me?
@@siwant1 That would be hard. You have to understand the lifestyle and feelings you have for the song and also understand English. First thing is more important because I don't understand French but I feel the lyrics...
It’s simple one minute you are the cockerel on the wall next minute you are a feather duster
I can identify with every feeling expressed in this song.
Lord just how many times, I wish that you really didn't know 😔all those lonely moments, not just Sunday, praise God 🙏🙌❤💙thank you God for always being there 🙏❤and 🌎🙏
It often strikes me watching the Highwaymen how often Kris looks like he is really trying hard to match the others seemingly effortless vocal ability and is concious of it, yet all the others always seem in awe and thankful of Kris being on stage with them such is the high regard everyone has for him as a person his songwriting genius.
These guys had no fancy ear pieces or computers ....they were REAL SINGERS!!
Raw talent.
Proper songs with a true story behind them
You can actually understand what they are signing. Beautiful
There is NO TALENT like these guy any more!!!
There are stage monitor speakers so they can hear themselves.
There are many who can relate to this song . Kris wrote from the heart and experience. I am 80 now but can recall the time I first listened to Silver Tongued Devil. What a privilege to have been around for these guys in their prime. RIP Johnny and Waylon and God Bless Willie and Kris🙏👏🧤
I'll be 73-The Lord willing come December. I relate to this song and i love Kris's original version, the version here, and Johnny doing it as a single is my favourite version but it took such Masterful thinking for KK to pen this gem.
@@QWZXM At 82 I still sing and play the guitar to this great song.
Nice to be able to play the guitar and sing this special song for alot of people. God bless Kriss great song writer I think we can all relate to this gem
I RIP R. Jung
Imagine Kris TELLING Johnny “ok it’s your turn”. And Johnny telling Kris your turn. Awesome 🎹🎼👍Two legends.
The time is passing by fast now but you are still in my heart……… and always will be……RIP Gen……. AL
Still listening in 2024
If you weren’t around in the 70’s, for most of us this was reality. What a time to be alive. Kris Kristofferson is an absolute genius song writer. The highwaymen were everything country music needed. Rest In Peace Johnny Cash and Waylon Jennings.
Amen to that. Fabulous, all of them. Country music lost 2 of the best in 2002 & 2003. Kris & Willie are still here, but only Willie is still entertaining. They are all some of the greatest writer's music has ever had.
totally agree!
I feel deeply about what u r sayn !!!!I'm 74 and have had a BLAST!
@@willielam2189 love this! Don't know if I will see 74 but hope I have your attitude if I do. Best wishes from🇮🇪

Fantastic music from the lads could listen all day terrific melody lovely Country, Keith Geordie land
Now that's what you call contrary music
18 years (2003) Johnny you're still missed 🤘🏻🥃❤‼
What a beautiful song
I can’t stop listening to it
Still dancing in my dreams with you my love.... love you Gen......only cried twice today missing you !
Johnny plus anything equals greatness.
"And it echoed through the canyon
Like the disappearing dreams of yesterday"
Holy hell.
One hell of a good line. Especially now...
No holy heaven, hell is a place you don’t want to be.
@@Mysterious13138 It's just an expression.
True poetry
As a retired drunk this song brings tears to my eyes
Me too... I've had many Sunday Mornings Coming Down... sadly.
me too, OMG.
👍🙏
That song is what motivated me to change while I still could. 34 years last month.
I hear ya though
More than a song. It's a fkn hymn.
I pause for a moment of silence for the sill suffering addict! Peace be with you!

You cannot escape destiny. From the vaunted halls of universities to the esteem of a military career , the disdain of his parents to being an ash tray cleaner, Kris had a mission. So glad he followed his heart
Just simply the Best ! LEGENDS that will Live on Forever
Hi Kaylene, how are you doing
Ai was around late 70 and 80 absolutely loved it I wish I could go back
Memories Man that was the time. Woodstock and the Beatles.THE TIME.
only a southerner can write like this. love peace and God bless y'all.2020 and beyond.
Country will never reach levels like this ever again!
We can only hope
I have to agree
Very true. Country can never get better. This is just better than any rock, Pop or any other music. The emotion is just brilliant.
So much agree. Surreal in every way.
Sunday morning coming down is among the top 10 songs ever writtened-my opinion. Both Kris and Johnny does this song justice as singles.
If they would play this all the time I would listen to it all the time
When Kris gives the nod to Johnny Priceless 👍👍
I agree that's what makes the whole concert
when music was great
Lost history for ever gone, but no forgotten.
I was born in 1970 and still listening in 2024
Never see this good again in CM, lucky we got a real look
Kris was a prolific songwriter and Highwayman was purely legend
'found my cleanest dirty shirt' I love that genius by KK
When you are feeling low, listen to this! You are not alone, these legends have been there and survived. Listen to it over and over, have a good cry, and carry on. Joy comes in the morning.
What a lovely way of seeing it!! Well spoken!!
It’s not about joy in the morning. It’s beautiful but very sad at the same time This song is mainly about loneliness and lost opportunities or dreams. A Sunday morning dread for the week ahead, a come down from a Saturday where people have been relaxing or out socialising. People who end up completely alone on a summers day and see friends and family walking by
@@ME.40801 So sorry for your loss.
As always... What doesn't Kill ya, makes you STRONGER!
@@ME.40801 quickly grab the sweet stuff & hold it close.. let the dark stuff just float away.. is what your Bro' wudda wanted you to do.
One of the best songs ever written
Early Johnny is high energy, Old Johnny is just soul and remorse. I prefer his recordings from the 90s
The old man's favorite song lived the lifestyle.
I saw The Highway Men in Reno Ca in 1995… it was one of the greatest shows I’ve seen… The greatest country legends all together! 💚💚
Hi 👋, how are you doing
I hope and pray that everyone in this audience realizes the once in a lifetime opportunity they shared together on this day. Truly amazing! A treasure to behold
If they didn't realize it then, they surly realize it now! Wish we could have been that lucky!
One of the best songs!Love it forever, greetings from the Netherlands!

Two legends gone. Two left
Some of us know this scenario all to damn well.... - we miss the time, the sound, the picture - and we can never have it again. Fo
r the rest of you you - this is wisdom....
Besides this being best version, it is fantastic harmony and JC and KK are just at their best and the emotions between the two make this song the best. Four icons in one brilliant place singing an iconic song. This just beyond imagination.
Nothing better than having this song playing on Sunday morning. Best hangover song of all time.. well this and Sunshine by Atmosphere
Music Royalty, the likes of which we will never see again
Love how Waylon and Willie stand back and let Kris and Johnny enjoy the moment
Only Kk can write a song this awesome!..
I was at this show with my buddy Joe Rose,God grant him Peace, see you in Heaven,Joe,we had some fucking great times

Great song NEVER tire of listening to it thank you
We'll Never see Talent like this ever again.... LEGENDS
Your right! New country and new any genre all sucks. Anything 1999+ is garbage
It was a beautiful time and I feel blessed to have lived through them.
There are some young folk's these days who are making some good tunes.
But nothing touches these Legends.
Thanks for sharing this video.
Peace be with all the Outlaws out there.
KEH
except kris was the only band member playing his fucking instrument that night. johnny had a capo and strummed either 1 chord or muted, willie barely touched it, waylon was strumming nonsense at the bridge. kris actually fucking played
ScappahNikolai I noticed that too! In every video from this concert!
@@adlap0152 post to my comment, i looked at more videos. ITS LIKE THIS AT EVERY FUCKING CONCERT. DID THEY FORGET OR SOMETHING

Love your comment on
Sunday morning Coming down, Coliseum 1990.
It is so true.
Cash and Kristofferson just unreal.
Love the way kristifferson nods to johnny to continue to the second verse.
The words are so poignant and sad.
I cant stop playing it
Sending you light
I love these guys. And I'll never forget the time Kris stood up with Sinead Oconner that time when she was getting boo'ed on stage. That's a real man.
Song brings me to tears. Lived with demons for many years and can relate to it.
