How about late 50s to late 70s - that gives us a little beatnik stuff - and some folk music, and, of course, some honky-tonk too - put it all in a blender and you got a recipe for good times and incredible music.

This is awesome. Thanks for posting this. This must be some of the last footage featuring guitarist Luther Perkins, who died 5 August 1968. Luther was one of the original members of Cash's band, The Tennessee Three. A legend in his own right, Luther was one of several famous musicians born on January 8 (1928). The list also includes: Elvis Presley (1935), Shirley Bassey (1937), The Doors guitarist Robby Krieger (1946) and David Bowie (1947). What a great day to be born...
The last televised footage of Luther was on the Summer Brothers Smothers show, July 25th 1968. It wouldn't air until August 25th and Luther was already gone for a few weeks.
I will never forget the one and only time i ever seen Johnny Cash he was coming out of Walmart carrying a TV . This was in the 1980’s . Kingsport Tennessee not to far from Hiltons Virginia
