If anyone is considering taking Scott's course DO IT. I basically pole vaulted my recoding quality from being very basic and Spartan to fill on modern day badassery. All in a matter of a few months.

I have both your courses, have learned more than I can say from each one.. yet every time I watch a new video from you I am not sure how you do it, but you always seem to drive a point home. Even when i have seen you do the same flawless technique time and time again. In your courses you mentioned eqing for the mix on your tone... but in this video somehow you have managed to drive that point home and make it more pronounced ( Time stamp 11:24 - 11:54 ). Thank you for all you do your a true Guru.. Anyone reading this that has not bought up both his courses GTM and Mixing Extreme Metal. Your only hurting yourself. I would have paid more than what he was asking knowing what i know now about the courses, and buy his music he is not only good at mixing he is also a phenomenal writer..

Great tone! That approach of using the inserts for the guitar on the group with the stereo option is also cool.
I wish I have bought the course during the Black Friday, lol! Gotta wait for the next sales...

I started to learn mixing in 2014 with free amp sims from TSE and LePou, and still using them occasionally, lol. Free distortion VSTs are actually quite diverse, and i'd say it's post processing / overall production that matters the most, so i never got attached to any of the paid plugins. Getting tired of all the fraudulent demos that disguise a plugin that is no different from a bunch of other ones you have. Even the best and the most expensive amp sim can just fall apart in a certain mix, and the amount of effort to make it good is about the same. Ignite amps are killer stuff, ProFET + the anvil is my #1 combo (got an 8 string demo on my channel). I mean, it's literally possible to get almost any imaginable tone using a certain combination of free stuff and a fabfilter bundle. The only issue is finding decent IRs for free, that's a challenge.

The good old Emissary always works if i don`t know which amp i should use. It sounds always good, and the Guitar Tone Mastery course realy helped me out to make it better, same goes for the Mixing Extreme metal course! And it`s great to see how evrybody helps each other on the Discord, great video as always, cheers!

This is absolutely true. I often joke with the Ignite Amp guys that they could have been millionaires, haha. But that begs the question.. had it not been free, would it have become one of the most famous amp simulators for metal? Who knows :D

@@ChernobylAudio666 I'm using mostly Hydra from Impact Soundworks (without using the 8th string) and usually, the pick attack is an issue on tremolo parts (The VST allows me to completely remove the pick sound so I turn that knob completely down), besides that, I can apply the same principles as here to get "decent" results with my current skills. Maybe pick sounds removal is another story (and possibly another video). I'm also under the impression that a VST wouldn't give me a similar sustain compared to a real guitar through an amp sim... Not sure if there is something that can be done on that or if it is just me. Thanks for the reply!

    Scott,
I'm really struggling with a lot of high frequency "white noise" in my straight in DI guitar tracks with my Focusrite Scarlett 18i8 2nd gen. This appears to be noise from the interface itself as it doesn't change when input monitoring and the guitar volume is all the way up, or all the way down. Any advice on dealing with inherent noise from preamps/converters?
PS. the noise doesn't change when I move the guitar through different quadrants or get closer or further away from RFI emitting sources in the room.

Hey mate, awesome video! I have a question though. I work on a windows and the DAW I use is Ableton 9.0. I have followed your instructions and downloaded the files and executed them. It says I have finished installing STL Tonehub - Ignite Amps Emissary Presets on my computer and I have copied the files to my VST / PLUGIN folder which I use on Ableton, but the Emissary doesn't show up on my list of Plugins on Ableton. Any idea as to why? Help would be greatly appreciated! Thx.

Hey Scott, got a question. When recording a guitar with emgs (57/66) the di track has no detail...like it looks like one giant blob whereas, my other guitar with passive pickups gives me all the detail I need to make edits. Is there a way to fix this, or is that just how active pickups are?
