      Ola! Question for FAQ: with so many youtubers now having amp sims with their name on it, what are the chances of an Ola England signature amp sim?
      And, will we ever see some kind of guitar pedals (overdrive, noise gate etc) under the Solar brand?

    I love the free roots amp, I use it for all seven string stuff I record with my own responses. Probably my favourite fake amp after the mercurial reaxis which isnt free but is amazing. Plug ins have made life so much easier when recording demos or even tracks to be reamped later. If I had any advice it would be grab as many impulse responses as you can because micing cabs up well is very difficult and inconsistent and some free responses are absolutely incredible and obviously bedroom friendly.

    Lost in the 70's has some cool plugin's I've been especially impressed with their bass rig called bass deluxe, for all you bassists out there or even tinkerers like me. The way it sits in the pocket with a very pronounced tone with minimal effort is what's so nice about it. I have to admit I haven't messed with much of their other stuff but if it's they are anything like the bass one they are probably worth a go or at least a look.
    I recently encountered one to stay away from also, Audified Amplion live guitar and bass bundle LE loaded my computer with all sorts of ads by altering my antivirus settings in a less than transparent or straight forward manner. This is a no no and a smack bottom. Not recommended. Plus it was a pain to set up in the first place. Not to talk smack just trying to save you all a headache. Took me a week to put all my stuff back they way I had it. Probably would be OK if you were using it on a stand alone device but if it's your go to device for everything it's not going to go well me thinks.
    If you take the fluff and Stevie T. ML rigs and pan them you'll be in for a treat, LOL Try it. :)

    Secret: double your snare track and use the mercurial OD on it (with a gate if it’s too noisy or if you want to isolate the transients). Then layer it to taste (start at around -12db under your regular snare track and go up or down to taste)
    It REALLY makes your snares SMACK.
    if anything ruins a mix imo it’s not being able to hear the snare enough, it totally holds the groove together.

    Thanks for the recommendation for the Ignite Emissary. I just threw that into one my mixes to to mess around with it, and it sounds amazing, especially when you blend it with other amps. I'm using a free 5150 sim that Glenn Fricker recommended on his channel on my left and right guitar tracks and threw this on the center guitar track with the "Lead Modern" preset just to mess around and it added life to my mix that I didn't know it needed. This is with the same cab on all of the tracks too.

      And the craziest thing about all this is that, if you know what you do, you can get the same tone from your kemper or better with them, and they are free plugins.
      Kemper charges you 2500 for a good tone, with emissary you pay with the production and mixing knowledge you have.

    Free sims are great. Have a ton of IR's and Ignite's plugs, Nalex, Mercuriall and Vadim's freeware. I have lotsa paid shit too but honestly, I'm more creative with free stuff usually. Remember people, IR makes up the bulk of your tone. And modern freebies can get ballpark gain structure and tube sag and such. So glad that we have a heap of solid free plugs for guitar/bass that are simple and good for noobs but also powerful, and absolutely album-quality once you put the right EQ and IR on it.
    Cheers Ola. Great vid

  • @one-eye1721
    @one-eye1721 3 роки тому

    The noise is the only thing bad about the Emissary. Even putting a gate in your signal chain doesn't stop the buzzing as soon as you hit the strings. Maybe the idea is that the high gain will drown out the buzz. But it's always there in the back of the mix.
    But one very cool thing about it is that you can flip to the back and can choose what power amps you want and can adjust the bias, if you want to wring even more gain out of it.

    • @HaruSkage

    If you're just after something to make a change from your usual rig, using freebies makes sense. Also, it's a good 'door' to whatever else is available from that vendor. Done that in the past before getting the full product.
