@@tamary.leitmotiv I hate that you suggested that because now I’m infinitely disappointed. I can see that being a balancing nightmare, but still… what an insanely cool idea.
Yeah I’m surprised too. Awesome move set with good scaling and low requirements. Also in multiplayer meta it’s a top 3 great sword. Really disagree with the pick.
If you're talking about spell buffs, this is not true. The parting flame and the pyromancy flame both have better scaling in faith and intelligence. At max level the pyromancy flame has the highest spell buff at 242, then comes the parting flame at 226 and the demon scar sits right behind it at 220.
@@cinimini4854 depends on your use. The scar has been my offhand weapon for about 3 years now and it's a good balance for my GS. Allows you to quickly use pyromancies and close distance. Also has the attack that replaces the scimitars kick animation for switch ups.

I think not using spells was a bit of a mistake, as that’s an entire utility of the weapon completely locked out that you’re supposed to make use of to reach its full potential, it’s also why the few people who use these weapons do use these weapons.
ranking it as a catalyst would be a better move. considering demon scar has access to casting chaos bed vestiges, it wouldve made rank 1 basing it on that
I think that for the average player the Farron Greatsword would rank much higher, as most players are a bit more risky and more willing to trade hits, making the L1 move set a lot more viable. Because of the crazy movement, you can often avoid attacks while attacking, which is very strong. The extra 20% damage to demonic and abyssal enemies is also very nice
Farron Greatsword is my favourite boss souls. When i got it in my first playthrough, i thought it wouldn't be viable. Then, I practice not using lock on for l1 attack and if you position the attack correctly. You can dodge enemy attack and simultaneously damage them. I fought gael and sister friede with the weapon and felt so cool doing it. Crushing the dancefloor with breakdance.
A lot of you guys getting your emotional attachment to a weapon affect your judgment of how good a weapon is. The Farron Greatsword is a ok weapon, of course you can have fun with it but the numbers are on the table and the Farron falls behind.
@@AccelSternritterI think they’re trying to highlight that Snuppet just didn’t really utilize its ability to dodge attacks, and that it just has a higher skill floor as a weapon to use well.
perfect presentation, great music placement in every spot, great fashion souls and combat showcase at the start of each weapon. Hope to see more from you man, great work truly
i gotta say it seems a bit unfair to rank a weapon while also excluding its ability to use spells. that'd be like ranking a weapon but not taking the weapon art into consideration, only focusing on its r1's and r2's
@snuppet Honestly, no. Compare it to the other boss weapons which are compared already to similar Normal weapons, then compare it as a catalyst weapon to a comparable catalyst. Therefore you're not comparing the spells, just how good the boss weapon is in utility
I feel like the catalyst ones, especially the demon scar, are artificially low on the ranking because their value as a catalyst was effectively ignored.
Something you didn't mention about the farron greatsword is that you can actually combo the l1 into and from regular attacks (l1>r1>r1, r1>l1>r1, etc), which makes the weapon a lot more flexible and probably would've made it rank better.
The L1 moveset also tends to circle around your opponent which makes them miss you often if you time it right, and on top of that since you duck so low when using it, can also quite easily dodge the majority of horizontal slashes that bosses go for! I believe this weapon should have ranked much higher because you'd be surprised at how many attacks you could go for just using the first two L1s of the weapon, especially while a boss is attacking you, not to mention the dagger staggers enemies and even bosses like Friede, locking them into an entire L1 L1 R1 combo with no risk whatsoever. All in all a great weapon for PVE, just try to avoid the third L1 input as you're basically guaranteed to eat a blow because of how long it takes to complete the animation on top of you being so high up in the air compared to the first 2 inputs.
Amusingly, if you time the l1 correctly, it gives you I-frames like a Dodge occasionally does... meaning you have I-frames for the for up to the entire 3 hit combo, and using lock-on ensures you don't whiff the hit... it made it very nice... unfortunately the Ringed City update drastically reduced it to just the first strike, and made the timing extremely tough to use... but still possible...
Yeah the farron Greatsword is easily the best, just the fact the L1 makes you roll on the ground while attacking for 0 focus points combined with phenomenal damage with a quality build. Absolutely cranks stagger damage as well
With every weapon I'm getting more and more excited to see the Dragonslayer Armor's Greataxe, which is one of my favorite weapons in the game and has a special place in my heart as the weapon I used to beat the game for the first time
@morriganmcgraw73 it's such a beast. Legit the only weapon in the game that makes the bosses feel like no poise having chumps. Flattening an entire gank of white phantoms and their host in one slam is pure dopamine.
Having the Hollowslayer Greatsword be so low while it does extra damage to 90 percent of the enemies in the game, having the Frayed Blade be in 9th when it's the boss melting sword, and then having the Greatsword of Judgement be so high while showing footage of it doing doo doo damage. Wow
The Hollowslayer Greatsword deserves better, I think. It is absolutely amazing in the early game, performing really well on any dex or quality build. Also, since it is a greatsword, it shines in PVP for rollcatching. It also just looks super good.

I've beaten almost every boss (except Nameless King and the first couple of bosses before I got it) with the HS. In fact, I just beat Gael with it in about 3 tries (this is all on my first playthrough btw). It absolutely carried me through the game. It's excellent and so satisfying.
Scholars candlestick looks great when you use sword spells because it looks like you're extending the blade on it and kinda gives it a new moveset, farron flashsword is light attack, magic greatsword is heavy attack and old moonlight for weaponart.
My favourite out of all of the is definately Friede's scythe. The moveset is great and more fluid than normal scythes, it has very good range, has frostbite buildup and it's really the only good weapon to go for a dex/int build. Something I also didn't see mentioned is that this weapon deals more poise damage than you would expect, it staggers and stunlocks more enemy types than most light weight weapons to the point that as long as you have the stamina they can't do anything. I deleted over half of Sister Friede's health bar because she couldn't do anything.
I liked it, and it was part of my tool belt on my first playthrough, but there's a bit of a sour spot on it, where I find it occasionally struggles to hit enemies that are smaller and directly in front of you/normal enemies slightly below you, like thralls, the ringed city gobbos, ect.
Vordt's Hammer is one of my favorites. Also... you and the wiki say you can't proc frostbite on Soul of Cinder. I did. With Vordt's Hammer, and I have it on video, on my (non monetized) channel. Did a solo only run for fun and uploaded each fight for each game. It's fucking awesome. It trivializes several bosses lol. Looks awesome. Sounds awesome. And Demon's Scar with Black flame, is an epic combo.
This made me way happier then it should have but considering i just learned who the master of the Dragonslayer armour is it makes a lot of sense. Great vid!
I have been playing dark souls 3 for quite a while and i only learned that on accident when i clicked on one of the swords and saw combined and was like what?
I literally just watched your Elden Ring legendary/rememberance weapons video and was instantly wanting more. Was very happy to see this in my recommendations haha
I did a playthrough recently where I went directly to dragonslayer armour to play through the game with the dragonslayer great axe, and then went directly to the dlc. I was so strong I one shot the abyss watchers.
@@YEY0806 I also killed friede, demon prince, midir, half light and gael before the abyss watchers. I also uploaded a video of me killing the dragonslayer armour in that playthrough.
Did you use the hollowslayer on a pure dex build? Because it's actually more quality leaning. It gains very slightly more damage than Gael's greatsword on a 40/40 build but you can push it further by leveling strength to 26 to hit 40 when two handing then put as many levels into dex as possible.
My understanding of ds3 makes so much more sense after this. I did my first 3 playthroughs (all blind) with BKGS, lorians ugs, and dragonslayer greataxe. I was so confused why all the other weapons I tried after felt terrible lol
Honestly, the farron great sword it’s the best. While Using the special move, you came dodge attacks whilst making some damage. It’s tricky, but once you get the grasp, its amazing
The Artorias Greatsword for me is the best weapon due to its ability to stagger anything and the roll catches of the weapon art is great. Its not always a one shot but its a great vigor check.
I'd argue the Firelink GS is the both the biggest letdown in DS3 and the best thing in Dark Souls, either; You just beat a boss that has 4 entirely different movesets + gwyn, annnnd when you get it it's a generic GS with a fire buff and okay WA. OR You just beat the final (as of the release) boss of the DS series and got the sword from the f-ing bonfire as the reward, what a symbolic reward.
Crystal sage rapier can slap pretty hard in PvE if you focus on spacing and proper ring use. People really don’t give it enough credit for the options having the Rapier Stance as its weapon art opens up. Also, an element you overlooked about friede’s scythe due to your low HP strategy is its poise, L2 into R1 combo is an excellent trading tool.
on my sorcery run, i basically always had CSR in my offhand permanently, and it basically just made farming borderline unfair. it's a good counter poke weapon that could stagger smaller enemies, and it weighs nothing so there's no reason to not run it on int build as you make more off every encounter with it. If you're the ultimate miser, it's perfect.
I did a demon fist play through and it was very fun. Even with PvP it was pretty fun since most players are not used to fighting against it. Then with how easy it is to get makes it pretty top tier.
It’s my favourite boss in the series and one of my favourite weapons. Having a sword that buffs your weapon with more fire damage (which is highly useful) as well as knocking lots of enemies on their ass is a huge help as you can just finish them as they stand back up.
the dancer curved swords being above the demon scar and the hollowslayer being so low considering how early you can get it and how versetile it is feels wrong to me.
This video just makes me realise we’re in the peak era of UA-cam. A sub 50k subscriber channel, playing through a game a ridiculous amount of times to review a niche topic. Combined with some sick editing, seriously, that intro man. Easy sub from me. Puts my channel to shame.
It may not be great for pve but in pvp the demons scar may be one of the best weapons in the game. You could pull off some nasty combos between r1s and pyromancies. With max cast speed you could r1, roll catch with black snake, and then combo into CBV. You could also r1 into black flame which would melt players when using the right build.
Yea I think if a weapon it also a catalyst then you should use spells to rank it. Spell damage is lower so I think you have to use spells to judge the weapon as a whole like convenience and weight into consideration, vs slotting and switching to a catalyst. I've never used any of the weapons as catalysts myself yet so idk how to judge it, but I think it should be considered
I think the farron greatsword is a bit bit low imo. I'd recommend you NEVER do the last L1 attack, like ever. I found the combo of the first 2 L1's to be really good against a lot of enemies, and while kinda slow could rack up really good damage if spaced well. I find to space it right, you want to space yourself where the tip if the r1 would attack, or just outside of it's range. Then do two L1 attacks, and if possible follow up with an R1. Also maybe it's just me, but the fist parry, which the farron greatsword uses, I find way easier personally. I would put a pretty big asterisk, I think it scales pretty badly into the ringed city specifically. All of the bosses there both can't be parried, and from my run with it you could typically only get one L1 attack off, which means your damage fell off pretty hard, as the greatsword without the bonus dagger hit doesn't do the best damage.
Vordt's Greathammer is the weapon that got me through my first ever full run of Dark Souls 3. My first ever Soulsborne game, so it has a special place in my heart.
Another fun tidbit about Gael's Greatsword is if you unlock and hold back when you press R2 after L2, you can make your jump backwards shoot you forwards, then when you go for the plunge you can lock back on and still it
PvP should be taken into account at least a little. The dragonslayer axe weapon art is pretty fun, unil you realize it is almost guaranteed you'll get backstabed if you do it.
Don't lock on to your enemy and bait them into the back stab and turn around right when they start rolling behind you. You will flatten 9/10 players and kill at least half of them in one shot. Been doing that with the BKUGS for years and the dragonslayer greataxe is even better at it.
Hollowslayer Greatsword that low is insane, it's top 15 weapons in the game easily, most people consider it the very best weapon in the Greatsword class.
Look I’m not trying to be a hater or an asshole but from someone with 3000+ hours on ds3 and with thousands of invasions under my belt, this might be one of the worst scale lists I’ve ever seen, I under your more directing these opinions to pve but omg, putting champ’s halbert under wolners holy gs was one of the worst ds takes ever, I’m sure this list took a lot of time and effort and I commend you for that, but I feel like your opinions on certain weapons and abilities is so subjective and situational and newer players witching videos like this and seeing you rate some weapons so low will really mislead people, I’m not trying to yap any longer
Completely agree. I only have like 1k hours and have only used about a third of these weapons and can tell this list is 100% bullshit. You can see on-screen some of the weapons in the 20s doing better damage than those in the top 10, and most of his explanations make absolutely zero sense. Like, he seems to think that split scaling is somehow a good thing? “Damage Split allows the weapon to be decent against any enemy in the game” wtf is he talking about? Anybody who’s played through the game a few times, let alone 29 TIMES, knows split scaling is worse than single element types. Also, the fact that he refused to use spells on catalyst hybrid weapons is just infuriating… I mean, that’s literally what they’re for? I have to stop watching these horrendous soulsborne ranking videos, they’re all low-effort slop istg
The worst part is it's somehow not low effort slop, like imagine playing through 29 fucking times with a single weapon each time and... what? Either somehow use it wrong the entire time like a brainless zombie, or go through all that effort just to waste it and not think about the list for more than 2 minutes when finally putting it together lmfao.
Yeah I didnt want to be negative either, but with maybe 800 hours in ds3 and thousands spread from the other games, I didnt expect something like the farron greatsword to be placed so low. I wouldnt say its the best, but certainly not that far back. I feel like a beginner would also have a better time with it. As for what someone said about him saying split scaling is good, he only thinks it is good because he had to beat every boss with the weapon, even the ones where they were resistant, so I feel like his ranking is moreso “ranking the boss weapons on how hard it is to use that weapon and only that weapon for the entire run” because that is pretty much what he is ranking, which is just kind of misleading considering the fact that the video doesnt say that, it says “what is the best ds3 boss weapon” or whatever. I think this video has a place, maybe just not under this title, and maybe he needs to understand the game in a different vein, because there is obviously something missing
Wolf Knight greatsword is for sure my favorite in the game. I’ve done so many runs with that weapon and back when DS3 PvP was largely active I would always come in rocking full Artorias cosplay and shut people down.

@abbhorase7658 exactly it will always be one of my favorites. The move set feels smoother than other greatswords cause it doesn't hit the ground
Yeah I’m surprised too. Awesome move set with good scaling and low requirements. Also in multiplayer meta it’s a top 3 great sword. Really disagree with the pick.
its like the claymore from ds1 so reliable@abbhorase7658
i didn't watch video yet, but his ring setup is kinda cringe for heavy weapons or weps with hood hyperarmor...
I love the Demon Scar. Once you're high enough level, it becomes the best pyromancer flame that also doubles as a pretty good sword.

This thing auto dodges gael phase 1. Beat him first try with just spamming l1^^.
@@Stevemastersreason it’s so much fun as well, it feels like a dance

That’d be too difficult, too many to rank.
Exactly!
There’s nothing quite like being able to dodge and attack simultaneously, makes the tempo of the boss fights more like Sekiro
I get his intention with excluding the catalyst aspect of the spellcasting weapons but I agree that it misses a hell of a lot of the point of them.
This issue is, Im suddenly not ranking the weapon anymore, but rather the spells I use, which makes it useless to the list.
@snuppet Honestly, no. Compare it to the other boss weapons which are compared already to similar Normal weapons, then compare it as a catalyst weapon to a comparable catalyst. Therefore you're not comparing the spells, just how good the boss weapon is in utility
@@commanderkit-kat9314 you’ve found the words I couldn’t
I feel like the catalyst ones, especially the demon scar, are artificially low on the ranking because their value as a catalyst was effectively ignored.
Not dressing as Lucatiel for Hollow Slayer GS is a CRIME
Something you didn't mention about the farron greatsword is that you can actually combo the l1 into and from regular attacks (l1>r1>r1, r1>l1>r1, etc), which makes the weapon a lot more flexible and probably would've made it rank better.
Also it scales better with 40/40 dex and strength at around 560 ar
It also has the damage bonus against Abyssal enemies like the Wolf Knights Greatsword, which he also didn’t mention
Absolutely cranks stagger damage as well
Bro had no right to make a tier list go THIS hard
With every weapon I'm getting more and more excited to see the Dragonslayer Armor's Greataxe, which is one of my favorite weapons in the game and has a special place in my heart as the weapon I used to beat the game for the first time

@morriganmcgraw73 it's such a beast. Legit the only weapon in the game that makes the bosses feel like no poise having chumps. Flattening an entire gank of white phantoms and their host in one slam is pure dopamine.
Even in Elden Ring its still a beast, Miyazaki thought we wouldn't notice that it was hidden behind trash mobs

The amount of time you must have spent to get those epic weapon intros is mind boggling. Such a well done video.
The Artorias Greatsword for me is the best weapon due to its ability to stagger anything and the roll catches of the weapon art is great. Its not always a one shot but its a great vigor check.
I really enjoyed learning how all of the weapons performed against the deacons
You’ve quickly become one of my favorite souls content creators right behind the goat GinoMachino and Dist. Keep up the good work!
I'd argue the Firelink GS is the both the biggest letdown in DS3 and the best thing in Dark Souls, either;
You just beat a boss that has 4 entirely different movesets + gwyn, annnnd when you get it it's a generic GS with a fire buff and okay WA.
OR
You just beat the final (as of the release) boss of the DS series and got the sword from the f-ing bonfire as the reward, what a symbolic reward.
I feel like astors spear at least esthetically would be great for a dark playthrough.... Really makes me wish we could infuse it.
Demon's Greataxe being so high makes me so happy and nostalgic, it's what I used on my first playthrough all those years ago.
I know you didn't include bows and crossbows, but I still think Gael's crossbow might be one of the best weapons in the game.
I love the concept of the Soul of Cinder, and their weapon, but I feel it got far more props than it deserves 😅

It may not be great for pve but in pvp the demons scar may be one of the best weapons in the game. You could pull off some nasty combos between r1s and pyromancies. With max cast speed you could r1, roll catch with black snake, and then combo into CBV. You could also r1 into black flame which would melt players when using the right build.

not using the catalyst as catalyst sucks
Yea I think if a weapon it also a catalyst then you should use spells to rank it. Spell damage is lower so I think you have to use spells to judge the weapon as a whole like convenience and weight into consideration, vs slotting and switching to a catalyst.
I've never used any of the weapons as catalysts myself yet so idk how to judge it, but I think it should be considered

I’m not even a fromsoft guy, but these videos are extremely well made. Both informative AND beautifully edited. Excellent work!!!
I swear, the contrast of fun and damage the Dragonslayer's greataxe has compared to other weapons just blew me away. It's amazing

Man what a great video. Thank you for putting in so much effort, it really paid off!
PvP should be taken into account at least a little. The dragonslayer axe weapon art is pretty fun, unil you realize it is almost guaranteed you'll get backstabed if you do it.
As much as souls true fun is pvp, this is a pveer channel
Don't lock on to your enemy and bait them into the back stab and turn around right when they start rolling behind you. You will flatten 9/10 players and kill at least half of them in one shot. Been doing that with the BKUGS for years and the dragonslayer greataxe is even better at it.

@@C1yde902 dont cry honey, go to DD2
The worst part is it's somehow not low effort slop, like imagine playing through 29 fucking times with a single weapon each time and... what?
