going to a rolex dealership is like making a appointment with a dominatrix
The key in both instances is having an easy to remember Safe Word.
@@TommyRibs my safe word is Casio
@@cheapandevilgirl mine is Omega. So much so, that I have completely lost the urge to buy a Rolex...
…and you still don’t get the thrashing you want…😆😂🤣
I think you should tell us more about your visit to a Dominatrix (my guess is you have never set foot in either though ; )
Fun fact: When I asked my AD for a Pepsi, I was treated quite rudely and he could barely hold back his laughter. (The whole experience that day was bad though.) So I went to another AD in another city and was treated exceptionally well there, even though I was a new customer. But probably one of the rare cases where you have more success as a new customer than as an existing customer.
I wanted to buy a Rolex so much a couple of years ago but the models I wanted were very hard to find that time. I saved more money and ended up buying a Vacheron Over seas blue dial. Couldn’t be happier. Will next go for a JLC reverso after a couple of years. Rolex case reminds me of a situation when u r absolutely crazy about someone at one time but when u get over that person then u r like wdf why was I sooo into that person 😆
Having to queue for the privilege of handing over hard-earned money for a watch is peak absurdity.
My thoughts exactly. Reflects the mentality of the modern well-earning part of our society quite precisely.
Yep, don’t care how good the watch is…I won’t grovel for the “privilege” of giving them MY money
Good luck getting a Hermes bag then. It's just a bag to put stuff in, but you have to do the same thing as getting a Rolex, but nobody complains about Hermes. Isn't it just weird?
Bruv, queuing to buy a bag is even dumber than queuing to buy a watch.
I think getting in line is fine when supply is less than demand for what you want. However it seems like for Rolexes it’s not really a line but a list and they pick from that list who is worthy. That’s absurd but fascinating at the same time.
I visited 2 Rolex AD’s on the same day (Summer 2023). After those visits, I can honestly say, I won’t be buying a Rolex. They want “control” more than money. I can buy watches anywhere. My collection is more than 10 and all taken care of because I don’t flip! I might & have gifted watches…I don’t flip. I buy what I like and I wear it as often as the collection allows. My oldest is an Omega Seamaster I purchased in 2000. Still wears and runs great. I don’t really dive, so its only required 2 services in all this time. My newest was a Longines, and I’m hoping it last until I stop breathing. I wish Rolex AD’s were about moving watches. But…apparently not.
Picked up 126613LB for my first. Love it! Like the price of the SS date, but aesthetically, the Bluesy just does more for me, so I had to go for the one I truly desire. Only thing that sucks about it being TT is the gold is a scratch magnet!
I like gold and I like blue, but I never find they go well together except with that Sub two tone. Something about that blue or the right amount of gold or some perfect balance of both. I don't know what it is exactly but I just absolutely always love the look of that watch!
A couple of weeks ago I got a 36mm Datejust with a Wimbledon dial and a fluted bezel after 59 days from an AD. I had no previous purchase history. The watch is for my daughters 21st.
I love the symmetry of the no date Sub and the ease of not setting it every time it stops. If they ever made a 126043 bluesy (TT no date), it would be my new dream watch.
No date sub is a fine piece
Agreed 👍🏻
When I was in the market many years ago, it was available with the chronometer certification. I ended up buying the Sea Dweller instead, which aesthetically the case looks the same, but it has a date function.
I would love to get a 41mm, black dial OP. That and the 40mm Explorer are the models I'm the most interested in right now. Either is the perfect everyday watch. That steel and gold GMT Master is stunning though.
Jenni going to goldsmiths to order an explorer 2 .Thanks for the advice will see how it goes. 🤞
I think this is good info. Definitely going in person helps better than just calling around
I walked into an AD and they were trying to push all the other watch brands that they have. Finally they told me that they give priority to people who buy other stuff from them. So i need to buy stuff that i do not want to be considered for something i want.
But they were overall very polite and friendly and gave me lot of their time which i appreciate.
That’s a con that. Why should you have to spend money on other shit to buy something you want. You wouldn’t go to a butcher to buy a steak and then have to buy 100kilo of Kale to get your steak over the line
2:03 I picked mine up a couple of weeks ago, it was for sale in the window for just an hour before I was passing by here in UK. And 7:39 I got the call from my AD about a year ago! But I also visited another AD (not in UK) that had over 110 pieces ready for sale including various platinum Day-Date models, full yellow gold GMT on jubilee and the now-discontinued full yellow gold Yacht Master II. And pretty much every Datejust and Day-Date configuration you can imagine. Stock is back!
I agree the blue kit sub is so beautiful and versatile, looks great with a suit or jeans, and looks even better on a sunny day on the beach wearing t shirt and shorts,it looks rich and casual casual. 😊 kind regards Banico.
Got 30 no dates.. in a single shipment? Horse-sh*t! They’ve been hoarding them and the greys quit paying over retail.. so a frantic call to the dopes on the list.. and STILL have the gall to say you’ll need to buy some earrings to “qualify”. These people are criminal.
Yeah I think you're right. They need to stop with this buy some jewelry then you get it BS
Agree. It’s too bad these locations can’t be named and shamed. And exposed to Rolex HQ. GER is in recession - but no excuse to pull such sad games.
And you'll still have people on the forums and rolex subreddit saying Rolexes are scarce, and Rolex themselves have no options to ramp up production 😂
Honestly the way Rolex have treated genuine customers who will buy a watch to wear as an everyday has been awful. They will be very lucky to get genuine watch lovers back. The flipping nature of the market has really tainted the Rolex name. The AD’s must have sold loads of watches to flippers - why didn’t they realise genuine people will only buy one or maybe two Rolex’s in their lifetime. The whole AD and flipper relationship has driven away the genuine watch buyer.
@@WestCoastAce27will
I have been in 3 AD locations in the last several months. It was only the last one that actually had two watches for sale but they were the gold watches and over 50k each.
The Bluesy is my all-time favorite watch. It does it all.
I'm going to ask for a gold Daytona as my next Rolex. I had no problem getting a gold/steel datejust on the spot at an AD in mid 2020 in Switzerland.
That Submariner "Bluesy" is one of the most beautiful watches there is. I'm a little biased as I have a 1987 that I bought new and is now "vintage" (as am I) and I can't tell you the joy I've had wearing it all these years. For anyone on the fence as to what they should get near retail, for me the choice is obvious. Great video!
I was just given one of these this morning as payment for an art piece! It’s not my usual style and I wouldn’t have picked it just from pictures, but damnit if I don’t absolutely love it in person!
Completely agree. And - and this is a bit of a hot take on my part - I think it’s the most Rolex, Rolex, in 2023. Rolex has undeniably become more jewelry than tool oriented, yet retains that sporty durability and capability, and no model better encapsulates this ethos than the Bluesy….. IMO
I have a 41mm Bluesy and absolutely love it! Such a great piece.
Your 1987 bluesy is definitely one for the most beautiful watches out there! The new bluesy though, I'm not sold on. I don't like the blue bezel (it looks too plastic) and the gold numerals on the bezel clash badly IMO. The dark blue aluminium bezel on your one though is amazing!
Any gold combo is rather easy to get because they’re not sought as much. Rolex “beginners” always go for steel 🤷🏻♀️ I got my TT black sub in just over 4 weeks. They had a blue in stock but I found it too flashy on my wrist. It is gorgeous though.
My last Datejust I had made the configuration on the website. I wanted it exactly in that particular set up. Production time was estimated at circa 6 months, it arrived in 3. So if you decide to order one, have the money ready, it could arrive much faster than expected. I love that thing and it is the one getting most wear, so do only get the one you want and don’t settle. Settling at that price point is ridiculous.
Thank you Jenni. Love your videos! And love your pretty smile too!!
I picked up that Submariner No Date at my local AD nestled in quiet fancy suburb in NJ. Took only 2 months to get call that they had one and I didn't buy anything else. I owned preowned Rolex in past but wanted this watch new and clean from AD.
Good to hear the DJ and Explorer II are becoming much easier to obtain. In addition to the iconic Sub, I've always really liked both the Explorer and Explorer II. But that being said, I have moved on from Rolex. Back in 2020, more of us had disposable income. Here in 2023, the economy is not good with everything costing a lot more money! So that fact, along with the issue of many of us (myself included) having bought other luxury watch brands, the ship has sailed! In other words, I cannot justify the cost of Rolex (even at retail) now days. But since I've got other great watches in my collection, I am okay with that and no longer have the urge to buy Rolex.
my go to every day watch is the date just 41 MM in the mint green dial on a jubilee bracelet and fluted bezel.
I waited 5 weeks for a no date sub.
I walked in randomly and got a DJ 41 TT Wimbledon.
I’m hoping to go for a gmt master ii next
I went to a Rolex AD for the first time. I put myself down for the following watches and said if they come on I would like one. Bluesy, new two tone gmt, blue or green Skydweller, Pepsi, and black Daytona. They looked at me like I was kinda crazy but 3 weeks later they called me that the bluesy came in for me
Got my Sky Dweller!! Love it!! Watches are being shipped!!
Just picked up my Steel Sub date on Sat , 18month wait , and a 31mm two tone date just silver and diamond dial in between.
I was walking by the Rolex AD yesterday and they were putting out a Submariner No Date in the window. That agrees with what you said.
Surprised Explorer 36MM didn’t make the list. I’m assuming people would prefer the 40MM. And possibly the AirKing too. Great video as always. Thanks!!
I got my Explorer 40 only 17 days after visiting a local AD for the first time. I believe I followed Jenni's advice of how to approach the dealers without having actually seen that video. sincerity, enthusiasm, prior Rolex experiences and trying to relate to the salesperson always helps
I love how when getting a Rolex from an AD you have to be the salesperson rather than the customer. 😅
Remember it’s you buying the watch from them.
I think its them that should relate first.
You should do a video about all the 32xx low amplitude problems that are being discussed in the Rolex forums.
Very helpful! Could you do a video for AP? thanks 🥹
Excellent stuff
Thank you
Thanks for the tips, off to my AD for a Rolex! 🙌🛍️
Hi JE, great info and video. May I ask which country are you referring to this available stocks?🤔
I was lucky enough when Ben Bridge still one of the authorized dealers and purchased bunch of it ie: Pepsi Cola GMT, two tone Submariner, Rose Gold Turn O Graph, SS Daytona and date just WG diamond blue dial. Now my sister and brother in law has been waiting for the last two years to get one of their choice.
That bluesy is gorgeous just gorgeous
I got the call for a Bluesy just over a month after putting my name down on a no date sub! It may be a relative of the watch that I asked for but I couldn’t be happier!
I love everything about that watch the colour combinations are amazing !!!!
The Rolex explorer 36mm gold / stainless steel is also very quick in availability / delivery
I've been waiting for the call since 2021 from my local AD.
I have registered interest in the Explorer II at 2 different AD's, and both told me the same thing - they don't make many so they don't ship many, and I should expect a longer wait than for a sub date.
Explorer I Ref. 124270. Picked one up duty-free @ Rome airport with zero wait time.
Datejust are easily the Rolex I see most often. Lots in S&G, men and women mostly north of 60.
Hell , I’d be happy to have any one of these as a grail watch. The black dial explorer II is my favorite.
Glad to see you back!
I was quite lucky to be offered the Rolex Sky-Dweller Bial Dial Jubilee as my first Rolex from my AD (Berlin) 😍 I watched your videos multiple times before and after picking it up.
Love the specs of your watch. Never thought of putting a Jubilee bracelet on a Sky-Dweller.
When I was in Berlin last year on a short trip from the UK, I was told ‘locals only’. isn’t that racist? They can shove it up their hairy arse
@@onyourbikesmass produced? You can order a Rolex to your own specifications. We are not talking about Casio or Seiko here…
@@herbtube7824estimates are around 1M per yr - and most of the labor is by machines, only final assy by humans. So technically he’s. Correct. He obviously doesn’t give any credit for the quality and the fact that a well taken care of piece will last 100 yrs.
Lol every 11 people out of 10 wearing rolex. 😂😂😂
Four months of waiting for the 226570 (Explorer II). Highly recommend Ourivesaria Portugal.
I agree…walked into my local AD one day…they had a green dj41, bluesy, and a black dial op 41 available to buy.
You’re dreaming but I’m sure they could always revert to just being rude.
sure, i also did that, but that day was 5 years ago.
Well, out of those 3 watches...i picked up the op41...so i dont i am dreaming...btw the op41 wasnt in catalog 5 years ago...
So lucky my fav of current model is Sea-Dweller (not even Subbie)
I also recommend trying to work with a new/young sa because they’re still building up their client list that’s how I was able to get a sub in 1 month without purchase history
It's quite simple, anything which has been dropping down to near or below RRP on the grey market the flippers won't take, so the ADs are having to push them out the front door not the back door. So precious metal and two tone professionals have become a lot easier to get your hands on, anybody with spend has been getting the call.
Can't believe that they have had 30 steel subs in one delivery, more likely because of the recent grey price drops in Europe on the steel sub and sub dates due to alot of 2nd hand units hitting the internet and grey price now sitting 1k to 3k above RRP in Europe, this ADs sales director has decided to dump the stock from the safe out to the list before they get stuck with theses watches at the RRP above the grey prices, which is exactly what is happening with the precious and two tone subs.
But that AD has some front... the last attempt to get an extra 1k out of you, even if they can get half the list to do it that's an extra 15k, but the other half hopefully won't be a fool.
Coming from a sales and marketing background myself they're going about it all wrong, never tell a customer you have 30 stock, phone 1 customer and say you have 1 in stock, then do that 30 times...
Not able to afford a Rolex right now 😂. However, great video and tips! Love Rolex and the quality. Maybe someday…….if my wife gets a watch addiction too (right!).
Thanks Jenni! Great advice as usual.
lovely advice. thank you.
I absolutely love it when you pronounce Rolex as "Olex" (R significantly silent). It's way too cute.
Great video. What about the Explorer I 36 mm?
I've been on the list for a sub no date at 2 ADs for 4 months now and not got the call 😑. Also on the explorer 40
Two tone gmt might be the best looking gmt. I personally like the OP over a datejust. I have an explorer Ii and I honestly think it is the best Rolex. It cost less than a sub and has the same movment as the gmt master
Do you think you can negotiate the price at AD for a 126618LB (since it's a full gold watch and times are changing)? I've only purchased watches from GD so far and therefore have no previous purchases at any AD.
@JenniElle Just got my Explorer 2 polar dial after about 10 months wait.
I got to know my AD personally and I then bought a Tudor Black Bay 58 and then a bit later a beautiful Omega dress watch, when I then enquired about a Rolex I didn’t speak to him specifically about a particular model I told him why I wanted it and what I planned to do with it, I also expressed some concern about the image and potentiality of being attacked wearing it. The AD totally understood and he recommended the Explorer 2 and he showed me both the white and black versions, he said that the white was the more popular but I was taken with the black and I asked for that one, 3 months later it has arrived and it’s perfect in every way. My AD knows that I’m not planning on buying anymore but he has stayed in touch and told me to pop in for a coffee any time I wish. The whole experience was wonderful. Ellie thanks for a super video and your right about getting to know your AD it does pay off so to speak.
Sorry I meant to say Jenni!! My apologies.
You are lucky your AD is one of a kind.
I went to my Rolex AD, gave a list of watches I would buy, and got my first call for a DJ41 9 months later. About all the games I’m willing to play.
Been waiting on a "not so desirable" blue dial Yacht-Master 40 for over 6 months. I think your other video is spot on that they make these in batches. ADs been saying that they haven't been receiving any YMs. DJs, Subs, GMTs have been coming in but not what I want. 😢
Was at a dealer in Sweden like 2 years ago with a friend that is totally comitted to Rolex. We walked inte the store and he just yelled "this guy wanna buy a Rolex!". The dealer asked me wich one I want, I told him "submariner". They didn't had it in stock, but he suggested me to buy some other modell like yacht master or datejust. Now I have changed my mind and want a GMT-master II, thank god their stock sucks.
Most dealers in the US allow you to order almost any Datejust and most two tone models and solid gold models are easily obtainable
It’s incredible that we now live in a world where a shop ‘allows you’ to spend £6,500 to order a stainless steel watch.
Yah and people seem to have short memories too when all the watches were once available to buy@@borassictime918
Good to hear as I'm in the market for a DJ soon (I'm in Texas).
@@borassictime918I very much agree with your perspective. It is ridiculous. But on the other hand- if you were a dealer and got X number of a highly desirable model in per year, but had 20X that number of people requesting to buy that model, how else would you make your allocation decisions? Porsche does the same thing with their 911 GT models.
After years of looking for a Rolex Sub with date at AD's in a couple of states, I went ahead and bought a pre-owned 116610 ref number from a reseller local to me.
Dont support the grey market corruption
Normally the biggest day of shipping is Monday, so probably Monday afternoon or Tuesday morning is a better chance of get a nice watch…
I've been trying to get a no-date sub for a couple of years. I have a very small buying history (traded a bluesie to an AirKing in 2020) but am yet to hear anything. I pop in periodically to say hi to them, but will go in again next week and see if they have also had a delivery of 30!
Little update - I've been in my AD, they haven't had a stack of Subs delivered. But they do think I will get a call in 6-9 months!
Flying to Paris for the new year .do you suggest any dealer where I can buy the pespi on the spot 😊
The best advice is the part about how to ask your Rolex AD about buying a watch. It's a good primer for first-time buyers so they won't be surprised by the dealer's snarky response if they dare to ask them about purchasing a watch. My salesperson was very polite and tactful about it, but he let me know pretty quickly that the watches only go to their best customers.
Screw them
Im on the list for several watches, but one very unlikely to get.
I did have myself down for a DeepSea D-blue. But I was just in Tokyo and picked up an unworn 2017, still had all the plastic on it, box papers...complete set. Out the door it was $12400 with the exchange rate and no tax. No brainer. My Dad bought his 2022 new and he agrees with the current market I'm in a much better place. Im a vintage collector, but have started buying the occasional newer watch for daily usage. I cant wear my 1655 exporer daily, cant run the risk of sending it to Rolex and them wanting to switch out dials or hands...though there is no flaking on my lume or dial that i can see.
Ya‘ll Gotta take Cookies to the dealership 🤣 everyone loves Cookies💪🏼🥳
Is it better to shop at AD instead of the official retailer? I assume you can negotiate only at AD?
Honestly just buy what you want... if you want something put your name down for it or buy it on the grey market if it's going to end up being cheaper. I suspect the "30 delivered today" was actually 30 stuck in a safe whilst the prices went up that the dealer was looking to make a premium on but now can't as the market drops off... might just be me being cynical though.
Thank you Jenni Elle!😂
I'm over it 😂
Got my gmt master 2 batgirl. Prior purchase, submariner Starbucks. That’s all. 😂
Took about 3 months or so. My country has a weird rule where, professional models are only available to someone on a year basis I.e. if you bought a gmt master, you won’t be eligible for anymore professional model ones for a year.
And next watch, the Daytona.
What are the models that can be easily available. I’m looking at Datejust 41 or an oyster perpetual.
Your pink op looks great !
Can’t decide which sub to get. TT black and gold and SS. I have a friend who works at Rolex who can get me either watch in 30 days. I can’t decide!?!? I am 41 yrs old married with 2 kids. I am not a flashy guy so I automatically want the SS. But I like the TT look. I just don’t know if I would feel too self conscious in it since it’s more flashy. I don’t like attention. I like to be under the radar. I would also only wear it on the weekends due to my job and area I work at. Im not planning on purchasing multiple Rolex watches. So I want to make the right choice. I like the TT look but I think I would feel more comfortable in the blending original classic SS. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance
Guess it is also depending on countries, in Hong Kong or Singapore, there is no way to get a SS Sports models unless you support the ADs by buying their house brands first. But the situation may change if the Rolex demands is affected by the economy. Finger crossed. ☺
Agree 100% - so much wealth where you are - that it’s doubtful. Jenni’s info is GER specific - currently in recession and possibly for quite a while given their ridiculous energy policies.
First time buyer in Singapore. I just got my Explorer 36mm after 10 months wait. I just casually walked in and drop my name on the wait list, didn't revisit them during these 10 months for check-up or "relationship".
@@spirit818 Congrats! You are very lucky. 😁
Got the call for a bluesy in 3 days, and turned it down. A little too flashy for me with the yellow gold.
Good video!!
Do you think Rolex over retail will become less of a thing once these new factories come on steam?
I have most of these models. Lol my best advice is to go buy an Omega that you like and stop playing the Rolex game. My Seamaster Chronograph is my favorite watch.
My friend just got a Sea Dweller pretty fast and no History.
What about the best looking watch off them all, day-date, black or gray dial, lume hands and indexes, no diamonds., adjusted to 19,5 cm.
Good advices.❤
I feel like the yachtmaster is also a good first one to ask for. Not insane price point, it’s not a hype piece, looks good and 2nd market value is close to retail.
She's Back 👌🏾
super helpful
are dj 36 jubliee & gmt oyster strap interchangeable ?
Well I register my interest May 22 for a stainless steel DJ41 fluted bezel motif green dial on oyster.
And have just left it.
I then had an email a
Couple of weeks ago informing me it has now been discontinued so a bit gutted.
Anyway asked if I would like to register my interest for another watch. So went for a stainless DJ41 fluted, jubilee with mint green dial. Thought I would have to wait however I got the call this week days shy of two years. If they ask if I want to register again going to go green dial OP. Then will work towards sports model etc.
already have a GMT2 116710LN purchase on release 2007 with none of the hoop jumping
My AD asked me to skip on the White Exii so that I could get the Sub Date easier. Listened to her and got the black Sub 5 months later.
The AD in Switzerland told me you have to wait 1 year for a Datejust. I was interested in a SD steel 43mm. He recommended that I buy a CPO Submariner for the same price.
I love my Diamond Dial Date Just! 😀
Thankfully you can buy Rolex easily from the secondary market and you can avoid the AD.
In September this year I visited the Rolex AD Bucherer in the centre of Paris. I had contacted them by email and they actually called me up and asked me to visit assuring me that they would get me the watch I wanted. So while in Paris seeing my wife off on a trip I popped into their store. I chose Bucherer to begin with because they are being bought by Rolex thus logic would suggest they will be getting more stock. The lady I saw was most gracious and kept thanking me for visiting and choosing Bucherer etc. She asked me what watch I wanted and perhaps I made a mistake by saying that I was happy to buy either the Submariner non date base model or the Submariner date green bezel. I had brought with me a letter explaining my watch history and why I wanted what I wanted etc and it also had all my contact details. I live in France BTW.
She then asked me to enter all my details on their app on their Ipad which I did. She thanked me over and over and said I would receive an email shortly confirming everything and that I was now on their wait list.
I never received the email and haven't heard a thing since...
I bet she was new and thought it would be easy to get you what you wanted, not understanding how things worked. When she did, she was probably too embarrassed to contact you.
Perhaps my taste has done me well, first SM was 1986!walked in bought it and walked out. Then bought a two tone just a bit more style for formal wear, I was young at the time! Sold them a few years ago when the hype started requested a James Cameron Deep Sea, if you going for a steel diver go big! It is bullet proof and suits my wrist, also requested a SM bluesy, it is different looks beautiful! Wait times were minimal less than 6 months I had both. I do not buy to flip you want to get caught up in the madness of Daytona, steel SM etc then expect to wait it is supply and demand, fortunately they do nothing for me.
Exp2 vs GMT2, same movement the white dial looks so elegant it is amongst the most legible watches I have ever seen and owned just no rotating bezel, ask yourself how often do you use it, the bezel???? In twenty years if I am still here I will sell these and my cycle will start again, so as for my AD and I we get along well and understand each, never had a problem. Explore other brands, can’t get an SM steel, go get a SeaQ, less than SM on secondary market and a better watch, there are so many choices if you buy looking only at the short term return and hype, your journey into the wonderful world of watches will be a troubled one!!!!
