Call me crazy. I purchased my All Gold Rolex last year because I have a passion for nice watches, not because I could make money reselling it.
He assumes everyone is a flipper. Very strange.
Why are you guys hating on him? That‘s his business and he very transparently says what he will pay for those watches. And he says „unless you really want this watch, it‘s a pass.“ You should not blame him, but all the flippers.
I have bought Rolex watches from my AD and also from the grey market, it‘s my choice, isn‘t it? And if I get bored sometime I try to not loose money when selling them, is there something wrong with it?

By the way, why would you pay 5k more for a watch? Of course it‘s a pass, why not buy from grey market for less money?
You know what i like about you guys. You just tell us straight what your paying for the watch. No b.s no games. full transparency. You say we add our margin. I really appreciate that. it gives me a good idea of where the market is. i dont think any other channel gives you the real price for the dealer and the resale.

Glad I was able to get the Pepsi on Jubilee from the AD in late '22. Asked for it end of Jan '22 to celebrate a significant work promotion and 20 years with my wife. When my wife and I went to that city to celebrate our anniversary, I stopped into the AD in October to say hi and they surprised me with the watch and a delicious anniversary cake. Haven't bought a watch since.

Trying to understand the "unless you really want it" caveat. As a watch collector/enthusiasm shouldn't you really want every watch you buy? That has been my experience with all my watch purchases

You guys don't seem to understand that he's a luxury watch dealer. He's not a watch collector. He's speaking to his audience in terms of investment and flipping. His caveat of "unless you really want it" is just that. He's saying if you want to buy it to keep and wear, definitely buy it. If you want to buy it to flip or as an investment asset, DO NOT BUY.
I personally buy to wear, but it's still good insight from him on where the watch market is.

Hey Charlie, the new 126519LN black dial baton markers is an absolute killer. I have the original Oysterflex 'PN' and struggled to find anything as cool to pair it with. That is until I took delivery of my new Oysterflex 'Baby Le Mans'. Try one and post a video as I suspect you'll be overwhelmed by how under-the-radar it is, while being the most balanced aesthetics in decades!

I got the opportunity to get a "Baby Le Man" oysterflex daytona from an AD. You always mention the Ghost rarely talk about that one (white gold black dial). Would you recommend to buy or pass?
It is a great model, while not as popular as the Ghost dial it is certainly up there and should be a good one to go for 👍

I own the previous Ghost. Love the watch! But I also want to get this years model on the Oysteflex with the black dial and the silver sub dials; the inverse of the Ghost. That watch just looks amazing and the black dial just pulls the watch together nicely.

I have the new two tone GMT. Love it! Cannot believe it’s below retail already or at I should say. What are your thoughts of them having a short run on that? I don’t know why but I feel it’s going to be a short one year run. Holding it for that reason and because I love it. Fully stickered and haven’t worn it

Well if he's saying he'll sell you those watches under SRP....... He has to be buying them at lower then what he sells them for, and it would appear that there's more then enough people willing to sell them to him at those prices so...............
If you buy a watch because you want it then you can pay full retail if you can find someone to sell it to you. Or you can buy it on the gray for less then retail and actually buy it.
How the tables are turning at the AD. If people get back to just buying what they want rather than flipping. What dies that mean for the grey market? You’ll surely all be left holding stock nobody actually wants anymore.

What is your preference of a yacht master vs a submariner. I’m looking for personal use (never resell) but would prefer a watch that will hold its value.
Both stunning models, the Submariner is a lot more popular being the flagship model.
But if it’s going to be to wear and enjoy it will come down to your personal taste!
I don't know why these people try to discourage anyone from buying certain Rolex watches, especially if they're Rolex lovers the reason why I think they are doing this is because for most gray dealers, is better if there is low interest in these watches from customers so you can buy them for and resell them at some point, you have to remember not everyone wants to buy and sell watches to make a profit without doing any of the hard work, these people are not watchmakers, they are not authorized dealers however they are part of the problem why a lot of these true watch enthusiasts aren't able to get these watches. I can't wait for the day everything settles back, and these guys are no longer taking advantage of people.
You are right. The gray dealers want to keep the hype going. But the market is cooling. Now Covid is over, people are spending on other things like holiday. In the UK mortgage rates are higher than two years ago for those on variable rate mortgages. In the US the stock market is rising so people want to buy more stocks and ETFs. Everything is cyclical. It won’t be long before you can walk into a Rolex dealer and be offered one of a wide range of steel watches again, even if it’s not the Daytonas or some of the GMTs.
My AD is offering me a datejust 41 with fluted bezel and bright blue dial. Is it a go or a pass today?

The full precious metal models are struggling in the current market, if its for a quick flip then best to pass.
As a long term hold it should hold its value well 🙌
