I think the monster high movie has potential to have darker humor than the Barbie movie (or hell darker in general), not quite as dark as heathers or euphoria but dark in a way like beetlejuice or Wednesday
Yes you're right!!!!! It would also have the same dark humor/vibe in the way that shows like Goosebumps, Are You Afraid of the Dark, and The Nightmare Room had as well. Maybe they can also channel the dark vibe that 80s/90s dark fantasy movies had like the movie "Dark Crystal" or even the movie "Labyrinth" etc. ☺️👍👻
That’s what the franchise deserves. I can see stuff like the Wolf family being late at school, few unwashed blood clots on their clothes and throwing line like “scout camp! And we didn’t stop for the cookie and marshmallows :)” or Ghoulia eating brains with Cleo covering her dead flesh

I havee heard many other people say this before but i agree with them and say that the new movie should maybe have a new cast of original characters attending monster high and they could say the more iconic characters (frankie, clawdeen, draculaura, etc.) All graduated monster high and have them cameo in the movie.
A clueless/Jawbreaker/Scream Queens type movie with G1 characters would be so so SO amazing 😭 and make it PG13 at least!!

That accent thing might be the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard, have they never talked to people from other places? Especially weird since G3 did still give some characters non-American accents, they just weren’t accurate because they think a Russian-Tibetan somehow isn’t Asian enough or that millions of years of cinematic ancestry just magically disappears when you bang an Australian.
@@balticdragon-2303You can have ancestry from more than one part of the world. Cryptozoologically speaking, there’s even a hypothetical “yeti highway” connecting the Urals to the Himalayas. It’s also weird as hell to me that people even think Abbey’s Russian parts are somehow white, as if yetis are roaming around major European metropolitan centers instead of the cold, desolate and very much Asian Siberia. (Which is also presumably where Shiver came from. Makes me wonder if people also think piranhas are native to Australia…)

Ehhh I like both g3 and G1 and both generations have their flaws I would really like for both of them to be mixed in together without any of the flaws for this live action
i feel like unlike winx club (with fate the winx saga), monster high really lends itself to an edgier tone and i wouldn't mind a remake like that

Plot wise it could go a few different ways, it could be a different retelling of new ghoul at school with different writing plots, or it could be about the characters being dolls and having to deal with helping a human character that used to play with them, or a different and new story in the G1 setting.
I just want Twyla and spectra if they go back to the ogs! Those two along with Rebbeca, Venus, and Rochelle were my favs!

Monster highs budget with nickelodeon was horrible. even the new descendants looks 20x better quality and budget wise than those little monster high movies did. SO GLAD they dropped nickelodeon. i just hope they actually follow off the fashion and relationship, storylines etc from G1 monster high

I really hope Universal uses this as an opportunity to debut some new talent for the cast (sorry Zendaya). Plus that will allow them to not waste budget on inflated celebrity salaries, and put the budgeting towards more important things like costuming, makeup, and practical effects.
i would love to see new faces in this movie. it'd give them some great listings in hollywood. all i want fr is an egyptian actress for cleo.
New faces are so refreshing in new movies, I'm sick of seeing the same actors everywhere every time I watch something (especially Timothy chalamet, Tom holland and of course zendaya coleman)

I think this movie should be somewhat a comedy horror movie, something like Lisa Frankenstein or Jawbreaker.
On the accents, it got kids interested in where the mosters were from and added to their personalities. It would also let kids know that there are other people out there that sound different in the same language as you and to not judge by a different accent.
I'm sooo interested. I really hope they go more into the goth/punk/edgy G1 did, but also with a lot of the diversity from G3 that G1 wasn't allowed to do back then. So basically I'd love if they can do G1, but what couldn't be done before. Almost like.. finally getting the true G1 that was censored.

I think a PG-13 story involving the GEN one models is perfect, because we are technically old enough now to Warrant at least that type of story! What I think that they are going to do is they are going to follow the Barbie formula and they are going to poke fun at all the iconography, including the scandals of monster high, because it works so well with the Barbie film, I mean we forget the film made 1.4 billion at the box office. So I think a Monster High story where the fashion it is exquisite and has a Tim Burton aesthetic involving the sexy and chaotic times of high school, I think it’s a perfect thing to do.

They need to do g1 and I find it ridiculous they got rid of accents because a person's accent isn't a stereotype. There's a reason the world is great is how different each countries culture is and monster high was doing good with that for a little.

I'm currently leaning that this movie will be either lead to a gen 3.5 type of thing similar to what My Little Pony had during their 3rd gen or this will kick start gen 4 for Monster High. I can't really see Mattel approving something strictly gen 1 when they're trying so hard to make gen 3 popular.
Since it’s by Universal, they have literally no excuse to deny where their most original classic film monster is from. I hated G3’s Tumblr-esque treatment of marginalized identities from the start, but them straight up admitting in the show Lagoona was never white-coded completely killed it for me. “More diverse”, my ass.
Since you’re the one who always talks about it, I wonder if they would legally be able to give Jackson and Holt back what was so stupidly stolen from them. If not, it’s okay, just so long as it’s not too late to fix the damage.
Lagoona wasn't based on the Gillman though. They would have clarified because they did with everyone else. She can just be a sea monster. She IS just a sea monster. Even in G3 she's just a sea monster. So you're mad that she was Australian, well news flash, she wasn't made to be Brazilian and was not actually based on a Brazilian character, and in G3 she may not be Aussie anymore but she's still NOT BRAZILIAN. But they SHOULD have made her aboriginal in G3, aboriginal fans have viewed her as such and asked for it for a while, but they decided not to do it

I have been reading the comments saying that Winona Ryder should play the Headless Headmistress and I completely agree with this, it’s an excellent idea!
I also think that Tim Burton is the perfect director for a big budget Monster high film because his directing style matches the franchise’s aesthetic. What do you think?
The only people i can think of are:Wynonna Ryder as headless headmistress Bloodgood, Avantika Vandanapu as cleo, maybe Melanie Martinez as Draculara but not really as strong as the other two and lastly Chulpan Khamatova as Abby bominable
I rlly hope they go with a similar formula that the barbie movie used where the movie was campy and fun but also deep and serious but, since it’s monster high i rlly want them to do a lot more like; talk abt mental health, dealing with teenage drama, and overall just talk abt more serious things many ppl dont touch upon.
PLEASE BRING BACK THE ACCENTS!! I mean they could hire individuals WITH that accent! Imagine casting a Ukranian-born actress to play Abbey (Yes I know she lives in the Himalayans, but her accent was Ukranian/Russian.) I dunno, the actors would have to NAIL the accents, otherwise it's gonna come off as stereotypes, like some of the accents did.
Considering there's a confirmed multiverse and there was the "the lost movie." I wouldn't be upset with this movie getting the Spider-Man No Way Home treatment and playing around with nostalgia, different universes, different generations etc. I also wouldn't be upset about it getting the Barbie treatment and having them travel to the normie world to deal with issues similar to the stories from G1. As long as it's the right tone, mood, fashion, cast, music etc. I will be content with whatever the story is. It just has to capture what it is that we love about MH.
They need to hire greta gerwig on this. It’s clear she can make great films especially with the success of Barbie so they NEED her.
I remember the first I've seen Monster High live-action movie produced by Nickelodeon and Paramount Plus and I didn't hate it, but when I saw the announcement that Mattel has teamed up with Universal Pictures to make another live action movie for Monster High, I'm so excited to see it.

I don't think they will, because if this is a G1 inspired live action remake they won't play G1 Deuce and Heath, they will continue playing G3 if the movie IS G1

I really hope that the Monster High Universal movie is PG-13 or older because Monster High is just one of those series that work as being made for adults because it was always camp and I feel like a Monster High movie that like is about embracing who you are and not trying to change yourself for anyone would be an amazing movie but if they do anything else I would be just as happy
They should cast people from those parts of the world they based the characters on. Lagoona being Australian they cast an Australian actress. Cleo being an Egyptian mummy they should cast an Arabian actress. Give us diversity G1 gave us instead of white washing it with white actors with bad accents. There’s so much they could do with this especially if they stick with G1 storylines & give us a great movie.
If they truly wanted accuracy, I would say they must get a German actress for Frankie, a Romanian actress for Drac, a black actress from Brooklyn as Clawdeen, and an (aboriginal) Australian for Lagoona
As fot ehr sterotype, I doubt that because.. there are more immigrants than ever, there's the fact that they could find people who could do them, and they cherry picked a small amount of characters wo get to have accents, so far only FOUR. Lagoona, Toralei, Lochlan, and Abbey. Only two of the Europeans have accents too, Toralei who as a villain for most of the show, and Lochlan, who appeare once. And Eastern Europeans and Romanians have appreciated Drac for having an accent, and being one of the few heroic EE characters When you remove the accent from her, combined with removing ehr DAD's accent in the cartoon, harping on the Taiwanese part but only mentioning Romania twice and having the marketing team and voice actress never actually address Romanian people's concerns, you are effectively saying "Eastern Europeans don't matter or deserve rep" and whether conciously or subconciously, you're contributing to and enabling Hollywood to still portray EE people as either backwards Cold War stereotypes or otherwise as a villain. Chekov from Star Trek was groundbreaking because he was not only Russian and a good guy in the 60s when the communist hunters were out, but also one of the if not the first at least modern Slavic hero in American media. Notice how ST keeps getting remade but they NEVER remove Chekov's accent, treat him as a joke, or downplay his Eastern European heritage? MH can do the same thing with Draculaura and her dad. And MH has not compensated EE people by giving us a new EE character with an accent who is a HERO. The closest is Deuce, but Greeks are the only "acceptable EEs" in western media.
And I'm a black woman saying this. I would be furious if they made Clawdeen not black, EE people have the right to be upsset or concerned about EE characters being mishandled
I think they can draw inspiration from the books to do the movie and really focus on the be accepted as yourself message! Maybe even focus on the Normie vs monsters social issue.

i think it would be wise to maybe look into going for a cosplayer-shic type costume and makeup design since that's the kind of community monster high caters too as as well as emo or alternative subcultures (eg: scene, goth, etc) it would be nice to get that sort of representation in media as usually those kinds of subcultures aren't represented in a realistic sort of way and more of the stereotypical emo kid that wears eyeliner. Characters that I think stray away from this stereotype and represent realistic emo or alternative styles area: colin from jennifers body, lydia from beetle juice, nancy from the craft, and janis from mean girls (if you can think of any other tell me)
but it would also be nice to see them try to bring some originality to these sub-cultures as well and not just ride on already used fashion trends from these sub-cultures like what the new mean girl movie did and instead start trends like how the old mean girls movie did or the barbie movie

IM ACTUALLY SO HYPED FOR THIS. If it’s gen 1, this could be a revival for the gen! Like for the barbie movie they released dolls for the movie meaning that they could also release gen 1 dolls for the movie as well. And if the movie does well, people of all ages may like the dolls and who knows? maybe it’ll be a revival for the gen and they’ll release more?

See I quiet loved the Paramount movies and was excited to see the third movie but I know Universal is extremely good with MH that I have no doubt I'll love it. My big thing is I hope they can make Deuce's hair look convincing.

As much as I LOVE G1 (especially since I grew up with them since elementary/middle school, now 20, about to be 21 this June 27th) I kinda want them to keep the G1 personalities, but keep G3 diversity! I grew to love Frankie and Cleo, and the fact that other monsters are different with looks all together. G1 fashion, G3 diversity, but i want the two to mix when it comes to the personalities of the ghouls we love! Both generations have their pros and claws (pun intended), but it would be an amazing thing to witness 💕
I like G3, I've warmed up to it (i still have problems like removing accents and some of the fashion choices), but it's good otherwise. But I hope this movie is based on the original
Nick's monster high wasn't that bad. I liked it for what it is.
There’s a lot of episodes they could recreate, Ghouls rule, Frankie’s first day, Boo York, Scaris. If only they did it right, and actually implemented a great storyline for it if they are going to add the human world, which they always will include. Just need to refocus on the main character Frankie Stein and they’ll do great.

I think Mattel has a hidden gem with the Monster High books made by Lisi Harrison. I could see that material being elevated to cultural and social topics like racism, segregation, bully, etc. And it would be original, as those books were never adapted for other media.
