I decided to watch this again, when Ford was designing the Transit in 1964 they asked tradesmen people what they wanted in a van before they built it & it became an iconic van, this is what Ineos seem to be doing finding out what people want from the Grenadier which is a very good idea
Christian, you’re gas, the rest of us maintain our discos and hope for no issues and you go and buy one with loads of issues! We have a saying here in Ireland, “you are a glutton for punishment” 😅
By the way in a LR Defender you can also select low ratio with or without the central diff locked ,of course this is very useful as it avoids needless stress on the drive train when driving over rough ground were the wheels are unlikely to slip and just engage centre diff lock as required. This prevents or at least minimises transmission windup which happens on part time4x4systems when off road on hard terrain . Love your channel
Hi, we sold our LR3 V8 three years ago (nearly 300.000 kms and never problems with engine or gearbox, but always with the breaks !) and we are still mourning…until last weekend, when we also drove the IG. My wife also with Kurt (she said: he‘s the best). And I‘m so happy now that I ordered the IG Trialmaster (petrol one) already in May. Especially after seeing both of you liking the IG very much !! Keep on posting your always very entertaining and helpful videos .
Well your feelings really mirror mine , I’ve had a good crawl over the Grenadier at the Goodwood Revival the last few year’s and have been very impressed with the thought that’s gone into this vehicle in every respects it’s everything a Defender never was or could have been and I’ve been working on Landrovers for work and pleasure if you can call it that the last 38 years 😅
The announcement of the new Mall Crawler saved my subscription 😅😂. Jokes aside, I always look forward to tuning in on a Sunday. I’m just buying all the parts for a brake rebuild on my D4, so will be following the next few episodes with interest. Best, Ty.
Great content on the Grenadier Vera and Christian thank you! I’m very keen to see and hear about the new Mall Crawler and it’s acquisition. Cheers from the UK
Kurt reminds me of that show where the TV presenter was fired for laughing at the unfortunate chap with the squeaky voice. Kurts the unfortunate chap with the squeaky voice bless him!
I only learned of the existence of the Grenadier from your channel! I like most things about it, except the size (too big!) and the daft idea of putting the dials in the centre of the dashboard. Madness. It's nice to see a straight 6 cylinder in an offroader, they have many benefits for maintenance.
I’ve just hit 189k miles on my D4 SDV6 HSE - never misses a beat and can’t bear thinking about parting with it - nothing compares. Weirdly I’m more in love with this one than I ever was with my 5.0l Supercharged RR - it was way too luxurious and expensive compared to the ‘do it all’ Disco 😊
Vera (who is always happy and smiling) "it's the perfect car for getting duurty!" Christian, knowing his audience, looks at us down the camera lens "she means muddy!" 🤣 brilliant, love your videos.
Nicely done. I reserved a Grenadier but still unsure about the price. Love my 2016 LR4. For the price of the Grenadier I could fix everything on my Land Rover for the rest of my life.
I agree with you about the display, it saves them money having a centre console with LHD and RHD vehicles, but I think it is a mistake with their current drivers display.
This is the Defender that Land Rover should have built. I love this thing! Too bad it’s gonna be priced sky high in the States. Loved the video, thank you.
Disco 1 and some Disco 2 have center locking diff exactly same, you can have 4L with center diff locked or unlocked. Nice touch with ASPW :)) he would love it.
You guys are a pleasure to watch. Love your sense of humor. It’s going to be interesting to see how the Ineos sells. It’s a copy of a model that could barely sell towards the end of its model life, but who knows. Lots of people seem to like the idea. Personally, I’m more than happy to allow computers to do more of the decision making on when to lock diffs, and other advanced off road features of my new defender, and I’m more than happy with the compromise of all independent suspension for better road handling at the cost of extreme rock crawling. It’s so much easier to cross varied terrain with the modern LR terrain controls and automatic lockers doing the thinking for me that it would be a big step down to go manual again. I get the allure of less tech, but I’m all in on the benefits of modern computers and electronics, and unless I’m crossing the African continent, can’t see going back. Regardless, most Ineos are going to end up parked next to G-Wagons at Whole Foods, so who are we kidding.
@22.41, you could 'plastic weld' the old one & keep it as a spare, plastic welding is quite easy to do & the rods are available on ebay, all you need is a soldering iron to melt the plastic & fuse the two together with the plastic rods
Hi , your both always fun to watch , so much knowledge , hidden between those ears , dispensed to help others , enjoy their LR,s . Please keep the videos coming . Take care .
Excellent as always, I sat in a Grenadier last weekend, very nice, I know someone who’s ordered one, they have been given 2 different dates for delivery, second date was this month, I find it hilarious that you’ve bought another disco as the other one never broke!
Another great vid, guys, thank you! As a HDC power user, I am slightly disappointed at how basic the Grenadiers HDC system is. The average driver of D3 or similar might not appreciate just how incredible and versitile this feature is. Being able to control the speed of HDC with the CC buttons is an ingenious idea that should have been included. Also, accelerating cancelling the HDC is a poor decision. On the D3, when using the accelerator, HDC will adjust to hold the speed you are travelling at. It takes some getting used to but essentially, if you are doing 20mph, the car will not "run away" to even 21mph when going down hill, especially useful if you are towing in a low friction environment with 3000kg pushing you from behind.
@@Vera_and_Christian Nothing is final until it is on the showroom floor and your video is one of many very helpful videos I will use to learn about this vehicle before making any decisions in the future.
first impression ... interested if you agree. The steering wheel appeared small and I am not sure I like the central information unit. It does give a good view of the terrain in front of the wheel though.
As an aussy, who loves Land Rover, I’m still not convinced for long range remote over landing we do here , but in Europe, you can’t go wrong!! Love you guys!
I'm not a fan of the Grenadier , but it does have some nice features ( probably very expensive options ). Can't wait to see your new Disco 4 . Those locking wheel nuts are a pain to get off , once you air chisel the rotating cap bit off ( took me hours ) , you can hammer on a 12 point socket to remove what's left .

The Ineos is better than the land rover in my opinion. Reason is better rear doors , separate chassis and it wouldn't matter if you dent it a little. I'm not a fond lover of BMW as there over priced parts and I don't think value for money. If it was fitted with a Toyota engine that would definitely be the car for me if I had the money to spend . Sadly I don't have the money to just spend on a new vehicle as I've just retired and have no need for unnecessary things now . Good vid . Lovely lady .❤❤❤❤
I remember Kurt from Hogan's Heroes. He played my favorite character, General Albert Burkhalter. He still sounds exactly the same after all these years!
Very excited for my test drive soon. Picking up about what you said about self-service and warranty, on the 2B test drive in the UK, I was speaking to the head of warranty/after sales and he mentioned, that the warranty will be honoured if you can prove that you have correctly serviced the car. (although this may have changed in the last year)
There is law on any new vehicle in the UK providing that your garage is a proper business and they must use genuine manufacturers parts. My friends garage services lots of new Mini's that are still covered by their manufacturers warranty.
@@andicog I see, from what I understand as long as you have receipts for the correct parts then the warranty is still valid. I think this is in part to the detailed online manual.
It was interesting to hear Christian speaking Hessian (babbeln). I would love to follow a conversation between you and Sebastian Vettel.😁 Now we know the reason why there has always been so little content about a D4. Exited to see what is coming up next with the latest member of your vehicle fleet.👍
The big question now is. How good is the Grenadier on the Autobahn from Hamburg to Munchen. What is the top speed and how big is the fuel tank. What is the price for a full spec one. As always, take care and love from Sweden ☕👍
Interesting video, as always, thanks. It looks like your new "Mall Crawler" is the face-lifted D4 as I noticed the black surround of the rear lights, rather than the red surround of the earlier D4. Looking forward to seeing the videos on it.
Interesting location for the Spedometer. Under Australian design rules the spedometer must be located in front of the driver. This why a Mini in Australia has the largest Tachometer ever made (the spedometer and Tachometer locations were swapped but the sizes remained the same). They will probably have a small digital display in front of the driver in Australia. Intersting video and the best run down on the vehicle I have seen so far.

Looking forward to the new content on the new LR4, as I have an LR4 as well and there are differences to the LR3. I will let you know how its been going with my Turbo swap later on. I had a massive problem because a bolt snapped off in the exhaust manifold, and then on top of that I snapped the extractor off in the bolt!!! Massive problem getting it out... but I will update you later. Keep the content going, its awesome!
Another interesting video this Sunday. You finally got to drive the Grenadier yourself and I could see that you were having a lot of fun. The cockpit in front and especially in the roof reminds me of a Boeing 747. Very impressive.
What a guy from Ineos... You can use any Land rover in low gearbox without blocking center diff. Either they are visco couplings, automatic or manual centre diffs. You are always able to use them on the road...
@@Vera_and_Christian in that case, even stranger that he is comparing this beast to crossovers... Anyway, it's just a sales talk I guess... I like the Ineos, but I think it will not be very successful unfortunately. They will sell a few thousand, but it's not a simple roadside fixer like older defenders. And that's what the new defender critics want... This is also very complex and computer driven.
The new Mall Crawler story sounds interesting. I am looking forward to watching it, plus the repairs of course. The Grenadier certainly looks the part. I do like the more practical mechanical transfer case and centre differential and hand brake actuation. As far as servicing goes in Australia, you do not need to go to a dealer to service a vehicle retain the manufacturers warranty. You can go to any qualified mechanic. Provided they follow the manufacturers service schedule and used OEM parts you will be fine as far as making a warranty claim from the dealer. You don't need to use OEM parts, though I have no doubt if the dealer can demonstrate the non-OEM parts contributed to the issue, you will not be covered for that particular warranty claim. It is best to use your own mechanic & OEM parts if you don't want to pay the dealers hourly rate. The mechanic does not need to be a business owner, they do however need to be a qualified mechanic ie completed an mechanics apprenticeship and passed. I do not know the impacts of a warranty claim if you are not a qualified mechanic and you service your vehicle. Perhaps another Australian who knows can answer that question.
@@Vera_and_Christian The various motoring groups should petition the German government! The right to service (at least with qualified mechanic) should be a given provided the service is to the manufacturers requirements or better. The TUF accepts the work of all mechanics and even non-mechanics, so why can't the government at least allow qualified mechanics to undertake certain works and prohibit manufacturers from not honouring warranty claims if the work is done per the manufacturers specification with OEM or better parts? It happens in different parts of the world for the very same vehicle manufacturers that you have in Germany. Crazy!
That is a plus for Krah+Enders, the dealership who organized the event💪. I have never gotten from Land Rover, and I have been to a couple of vehicle release parties. 😅🙋♀Vera

I have to say I love the Grenadier transfer case. I assume it has fully locked front hubs. My GU Patrol has locked transfer case when in 4WD High or 4WD Low, but manual front hubs, so you can use low range 2WD to, for example, reverse a caravan up a steep driveway.
Gu patrol is partial drive 4x4. It does not have central diff. It has lockable rear diff. Front hubs are manual, but : 1 always locked ,or 2 only when in 4x4. So you can not drive it in low 2wd...
@@Bare36 Get your facts straight, buddy. Not all GU Patrol have rear diff lock. Front hubs can be manual or auto. With manual hubs you can shift to low range, unlock the hubs, and you have low range 2WD. If you have auto hubs, you can have low range 2WD in reverse, but not forwards.
@@einfelder8262 you should get your facts straight buddy... there is no central diff in patrol.. i did not have written, that ALL patrols have rear diff lock. Also, hubs on my y61 are auto or lock..in EU,every y61 patrol has auto hubs, manual hubs are only in y60
@@Bare36 You actually did say all Patrol has rear locker. and you did say "So you can not drive it in low 2wd..." Get your own facts straight buddy. You CAN drive it in low 2WD if you unlock front manual hubs, because when front hubs are unlocked you can NEVER drive the front wheels no matter what gear range you select. If you are stupid enough to still have auto front hubs there is no saving you.

I think I would buy a Grenadier over a new land cruiser,, b m w, engine,, zf gearbox, class,,love the channel
I enjoy watching you guys. Keep up the good work.
From your friendly New Zealander
Didn't get any notifications at all. Great video, cheers.
Thank you for this information. That is better than in Germany. Christian
Crazy!
New Mall Crawler, with multiple leaks. Game on!
We really hope it doesn't have multiple leaks. Just one major one. 😅👍🙋♀️Vera
First time viewer - that was fun. Love the aviation styled switchgear…
👍💪Hope you look around our channel. You'll find another Grenadier video. 🙋♀️Vera
Great vídeo as usual. Thanks for sharing! Best regards
Thank you. Interesting video and … the boss got a nice coffee mug🙂!
That is a plus for Krah+Enders, the dealership who organized the event💪. I have never gotten from Land Rover, and I have been to a couple of vehicle release parties. 😅🙋♀Vera
@@Vera_and_Christian They obviously have a better understanding of how to interact with customers and people who communicate to potential customers. In other words, they live in the real world.
21:17 I have two shelves for car parts like that. It becomes necessary when you own and maintain too many vehicles 😂
I bet you do 😂. The one we showed was purely for our LR3.
Far better than the New Land Rover !
Can’t wait for new videos 🎉🇮🇪
Vera, another good vid.
Thanks.
I have to say I love the Grenadier transfer case. I assume it has fully locked front hubs. My GU Patrol has locked transfer case when in 4WD High or 4WD Low, but manual front hubs, so you can use low range 2WD to, for example, reverse a caravan up a steep driveway.
The front hubs are always locked, as it's a full-time 4WD
Looking forward to the new D4 content as I have some upcoming maintenance on mine to do, so I will be using your videos as a refresher course. I have also installed a computer in my garage so I can watch your videos as I work.
😅👍💪We still need to do that. 🙋♀️Vera
I really like your channel. Lets make the LR reliable and not scary to own :)
Very excited to see your new content. Vera needs to make coffee for her new cup.
