I'd say Watson took excellent advantage of the 'Window of Opportunity' he was provided by Sherlock. On another note entirely, I always feel sorta bad when anyone in a shootout scene manages to mishandle an explosive device. There's always that terrible moment of realization in their eyes, when they quickly conclude that death is not only inevitable, but also _immediately_ imminent. That must be a horrific feeling. Like that feeling when your heart just sinks? Like when you're given terrible news, or you're shoplifting and you feel a hand land heavily on your shoulder as you're walking out, or you're hot and heavy with someone in bed and your significant other walks in and your eyes meet. Yeah...it must feel like that, just much, much worse...
It's what everyone feels when the angel of death comes to fetch you Home. Every single person, except for perhaps those that have been spiritually awakened while in this lifetime, goes through that realization, as the memories of the soul come flooding back. The final moment in here.
never watched this movie, but i love that sherlock is totally calm since everything is going according to plan, up until the exact moment his plan relies on watson taking advantage of it, at which point he expresses disappointment at his entire plan seemingly going to waste. and then the room watson shot into explodes. gives the impression that nobody could stand alongside holmes as well as watson does that he can surprise sherlock like that.
The best thing with Guy Ritchies is how he subtlety reworks lines from the book into the film with his own dialogue, some lines which oft at times occasionally feels like something out the books.
@@tspoon772 I don't think that was Sherlocks plan, but actually Watson's. He was a soldier so he probably figured they'd have grenades and maybe saw that the guy had them and came up with his own idea.

These movies were some of the best movies ever made. I love them.
Next Sherlock Holmes sequel
Sherlock Holmes: *DISCOMBOBULATE*
Block his blind jab
DISCOMBOBULATE
Those things u described were oddly specific. Hope those aren't personal accounts. 😂
@@manpreetlakhanpal9720 I was thinking exactly the same thing - very specific frame of reference that man!
That leg kick was great acting by Jude Law. XD
never watched this movie, but i love that sherlock is totally calm since everything is going according to plan, up until the exact moment his plan relies on watson taking advantage of it, at which point he expresses disappointment at his entire plan seemingly going to waste. and then the room watson shot into explodes. gives the impression that nobody could stand alongside holmes as well as watson does that he can surprise sherlock like that.
That subtle "design" joke at 4:18 is brilliant 😂😂
*BY THE DESIGN OF DEEZ NUTZ*
2:18 can always count on cricket references in period British films
Watson: "What Are We Doing Down Hea?"
Sherlock: "We....Are Waiting, I....Am Smoking"
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
The best thing with Guy Ritchies is how he subtlety reworks lines from the book into the film with his own dialogue, some lines which oft at times occasionally feels like something out the books.
YOU HAVE THE GRAND GIFT OF SILENCE, WATSON.
4:49, haha😀😃😆😆😆😆🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂😂😂😂😅😅😅😅😆😆😆🤣🤣🤣
That kick Watson did.....
Comedic, awesome, intense, beautifully made. One of the best movies imo 👌
5:15 man the new Joker film definitely looks interesting
How many windows must I provide?!?
Well its a train so there are plenty
makes me wonder if he had another plan for if the guy didn't drop the grenade pin
@@tspoon772 I don't think that was Sherlocks plan, but actually Watson's. He was a soldier so he probably figured they'd have grenades and maybe saw that the guy had them and came up with his own idea.
Read this while the scene was playing
*Train explodes*
0:35 Still think it's pretty cool how at this moment, at the same time this scuffle happens;, going back to watch this scene, Holmes has already blown phosphorus into the enemy soldiers, replaced one bullet in the machine gun belt with his lipstick, put the other half of the lipstick container up a rifle barrel, stole a grenade and went back to the cabinet next to the Watsons. He did it less than a minute and after Watson checks the hall, Holmes is ready to enable the next phase of his designed plan.
Tongue and cheek sub-current, stellar action, and Holmes's 4 step ahead stratagem all combine for one of the best cinematographic scenes of all time. Loved It!!!!!!!!
Very slick that he uses a triangle choke to grab a hold of watson to talk to him.
Just a tip for you grapplers if you have your partner in a triangle and you're paralell like rdj and jude law are here, he will indeed be able to talk to you. Get diagonal or perpendicular to them and the choke gets REAL tight
5:48 A perfect joker face for Robert Downey Jr..... please give the joker character to RDJ in upcoming bat man movies
I love law and rdj chemistry in this movie
“Lie down with me, Watson.” “WHY?!” 😂
The only thing that never change in all sherlock universes are when John and sherlock fight like kids
Worlds. Not everything is a universe. Unless, of course, you're suggesting that aliens exist in Holmes' setting.
06:01 me patiently waiting for a part 3
😂😂😂
We are still waiting for Sherlock Holmes 3 of RDJ
😇
@@GarciaOnThaBeat please say that this is real...
@Camden Gamble But probably this will never come. And movie will come for sure.
Guy Ritchie is an amazing director. It's a shame that he won't be back on the next Sherlock movie.
What next Sherlock movie?????
@@GraemeBell9864 Sherlock Holmes 3
During the Victorian era, those dresses would get incredibly heavy while wet, just consider women often drowned in river banks while washing because their dresses dragged them to the bottom and the cold water made them gasp. So yeah, rest in peace, Mary Watson.
Mycroft actually arrived right then in a boat to save her
@@ronmathewjoe because he timed it perfectly 😂
COVID: Happens
everyone bored during quarantine: What're we doing down here?

“Send out the fast bowler!” Love it! I’ll have to work that taunt into the next relevant confrontation that I encounter...
I just love the chem these two show on the screen. Dont really know if its similar to this in real life, but on screen theyre great together. I think if depp ends up being kicked out of fbawtft downey would be perfect as a villain. Id like to seem them work opposite each other knowin they have this level of chem between them. Woud be interesting to watch them.
3:08 - thats right jakey boi, knew someone would fall for it xD
İ have always admired Sherlock's intelligence. İ watched with excitement. His argument with Watson was so much fun.
6:45 that look he gave speaks volumes 😂😂😂
I love how suggestive they're scenes together were
Probably the best train fight ive seen in a while or ever from what i can remember and so smartly done it all makes so much sense
They're outside on a moving train in an incredibly precarious situation and Watson is so irritated that he lifts up a leg and kicks holmes in irritation. "I"M ON MY HONEYMOON!" So freaking funny.
Such a great scene A wonderful mix of action peppered with some moments of levity with RDJ & Jude Law doing their usual superlative work as actors
I'm sorry Benedict, but Robert Downey Jr is Sherlock Holmes
This is the truth! RDJ is the original and the most perfect Sherlock in the whole universe.
Kinda like Tom Cruise showed his version of Jack Reacher, but then Alan Ritchson, came along and everyone who was a fan of the books got swooned...😅😂
"John, I pushed Mary into the river so my brother can take her to safety." Seems totally sensible to be able to explain that in 10 seconds. I never understood why Sherlock couldn't have just said that.
But then again I'm not the one making the movie or investigating a Victorian multinational crime lord so what do I know.
You will recall from the first movie: Holmes isn't the best at explaining himself
Would never get past "I pushed her into the river". Immediate shot to the face. Bear in mind Watson just got the shock of his life and his adrenaline.... is.... UP.
Bear in mind he's counting the seconds as well and just *hoping* that machine gun nest takes longer to setup, and that an assault is coming FIRST.
That make up almost makes me think RDJ could do a helluva joker. lol
I'm sold, will definitely pick these movies up!
The trio of Downey,Law & Director Ritchie,was a brilliant collaborative effort.Just a fun, smart & riveting movie.
Please Sir,s I want some more.
My favorite quote: "That was no accident! It was by design."
Appeals to an Engineer's sense of humor.
Bring! back! Guy Ritchie! for! part! three!
YES. Otherwise, why even bother?
@@ComedyBros5 I know right??? They're saying it's supposed to be Dexter Fletcher though... :/
@@saradesjardins7403 I know. I'm not sure why Ritchie was offed for the 3rd one.
When you realise Warner Bros releases all the Sherlock Holmes clips before they release Sherlock Holmes 3
I think this film is a masterpiece. It is sad not to make a third part.
they are :)
I always thought he just blew smoke into their faces: I only just now realized that it was the Phosphorous. THAT’S why they all caught on fire! 🤯
“Is that a grenade pin? Well gosh I better find the grenade and give it back!”
I can imagine the guy pointing the rifle at them when he enters, seeing Watson on top of Holmes "Are we...interrupting here fellas?"
what i like about this movie the most is that it is realistic. also after fifty years of life ive finally realized that engaged means occupied. i always wondered why the word engaged was used for a woman that is to be married. now i understand, she is occupied. thank you sherlock holmes!
Alternatively @2:05
"Mary, can you swim?"
"No."
"Oh."
