What a world we lived in just 10 years ago. A small, goofy little sci-fi movie that cost just $40M and nearly made $500M. It was completely self-contained, original movie with zero plans for a sequel. Just a one-off movie for people to enjoy. If this movie was made now they would have spent $180M and it would have lost $200M at the box office.
I loved this film on several levels, and it gave me a new respect for Scarlet's beauty and acting ability. Her dead pan expressions throughout much of the film were unique and entertaining.

Great film with both Scarlett and Morgan. Liked the concept of the story even though its far fetched but well thought out and a good script. Great to watch.
Despite being totally unbelievable I thought this was one of the best movies EVER!!!! seen it 6-7 times. Thing is we never really know how much of it could be possible..... do we???
Just one hell of a film that is for sure. Scarlett Johanssen was just made for this movie as she really was just brilliant in this film, I must have watched over 500 times and even now I still do not get sick and tired of watching this fantastic film.
The more we learn the further we progress. Such as human behavior. The more you understand them the easier it is for them to be predictable. Closed minded people are the easiest to observe because they're all the same.
always liked that movie,,, a bit of truth in it, we never really die, she's right, can you remember? we are just energy, and energy cannot be destroyed,,,, Be unto his will...
If you look at from the perspective of scientific accuracy, brilliance of storytelling, fight choreography, etc., then of course it will be a ridiculous movie. But I don’t think that’s how the writers truly intended it to be viewed. They don’t want you to try to look at it how you would a regular movie. They want you to look at it in terms of meaning. It is, whether you agree or not, an extremely philosophically involved movie, asking viewers to think about the ramifications of our past and future evolution, our place in the universe, the increasing development of computers, the potential existence of a higher power, what information even is, the scope of potential knowledge, etc.

Their acting is truly brilliant. Despite not typically falling in love with fictional characters, I found myself strongly captivated by her leading man, to the level that I hope nothing happens to him, well I’m glad he didn’t died and sensing a palpable chemistry between them. Lucy’s energy resonated with me, creating a feeling of connection between us. Excellent writing, excellent director, excellent acting, excellent everything.
No "real life" happening here. This is, after all, a MOVIE with ACTORS following a written script. In real life, mind blown. To see it in a movie, never going to happen.
I adore this movie. Im watching it right now. I have rewatched it over and over. Its one of Scarlet's best movies. I love her in her other movies but I think this is her best.
What a movie, this film makes you realise what we are truly capable of if we were able to access our full mental capacity of our minds,it makes you wonder doesn't it 🙏🏽☯️🧠☯️🙏🏽
It’s a myth that we only have access to 10% of our brains potential. It comes from the days when scientists were studying the brain and didn’t have the tools to look into the brain as it’s working. Even during sleeping our brains use 20% of our bodies calories. We have 100% access to our brains but like a muscle it needs stimulation to get stronger. Functioning Magnetic resonance imaging (FMRI) and Positron emission tomography (POS) can show our brains are fully active at rest or during simple tasks thus the myth of us only having access to 10% of our brains capability is completely wrong.
Luc Besson set the gold standard with La Femme Nikita in 1990. ONLY watch the original French version even if it means reading subtitles. The American remake has at most half of the edginess and required Euro style of the original.
@nickpond9337 Yes! Especially, since I noticed, that as she evolved more and more, she needed to use less and less violence! In the first scene, in the corridor, she realized that she was already beyond the stage where she needed to kill all the goons to get the briefcase. Or am I misinterpreting it?
Before this movie came out, I remember having a conversation with a friend about how I believed we use 100% of our brain, just not consciously. Then this movie came out, and everyone was arguing about how smart they were. Lol, truly good entertainment. They shoulda just come to me.
One of my favorite movies is Akira, there is a scene where he is in the hall and uses a force-burst to crush people into the walls. I was really hoping she would do that. I do like that she was in Ghost in the Shell. 🥰
That is a well established theatrical tradition. It is probably relatively rare that anyone has considered that actors are actually really what they portray their characters as being. I recall a movie, I think it was a Robin Hood movie, where the extras were dressed in padded clothing, so they could be shot with arrows, for realism; but generally, if you are going to be using real magic, then you will have better things to do with your skills than portray wizards in movies.
Yes you have a point but its not magical,it's saying she is evolving at a rapid rate and is simply controlling the enviremet around her by a chance encounter with a drug
The way she just casually walks out and leaves those guys floating on the ceiling. It’s like hey wait a minute before you go If you don’t mind, can we come down now? Since you’re leaving anyways.
I like the way she goes from scared girl to omniscient bad ass in this movie.
