Hey 👋 I am glad you managed to find time to make the comparison before returning the other grinder. I was a bit concerned reading they might need around 7 kgs of seasoning to be usable but after this I’m glad you can get at least usable espresso without seasoning.

Yeah its a rushed job but yes the taste of unseasoned burrs is actually quite all right. Usually i dont really push kilograms of old beans to season the grinder but for filtered coffee, seasoned burrs tasted significantly better.

Hello, CY. A lot of people are curious to see a picture of the translucent hopper of the white version put on the black 078s. Can you make this for us?

I have returned the white 78s back to my friend. We will see if he can lend the top cover to me when he is travelling

😊 👋, i have the same setup and i was wondering how you decide which temperature setting to use on your solis machine?
And which portafilter are you using?
Im still using the stock portafilter and i want to know if its worth upgrading to the one your using in the video. Thanks for the content 😀

Temperature setting will depend on the roast level. darker the roast loweer the temperature. On the Solis machine, even though you can adjust the brew temperature, but i would say it doez not differ too much from the various setting and hence i dont even bother to adjust the brewing temp. The portafilter i am using is the bottomless one which we are selling in our cafe.and yes in my opinion, the best way to see if your puck is wrll prepared is to use the bottomless and look at the extraction. In my opinion, i think its definitely worth the upgrade.

Do you need to align the burr when you first get the 078s? I just received mine but not sure if I need to do any alignment to it (Not sure how to do it as well)

I didn't align it but I readjusted the burrs so that at zero my burrs will touch. But doing this to the 078S also means that you have a wider espresso range and not much range for filtered coffee as it won't be able to grind coarse.

At 0 the burrs touch but I’m confused you kept increasing the number for more fine coffee vs coarse?

Or were the grinds to fine and that’s why it was choking?

I bought a df64 gen 2 as my first grinder. I haven't received it yet, but kind of regretting not going for the 078s. Granted, I got the df64 gen 2 for 250 usd vs the 700 usd of the 078s. I'm just wondering if any 64mm burr will fit inside the df64 gen 2. I mainly do filter and pour over. So I want to put the ode gen 2 burrs inside my df64.

Ssp 64mm will surely fit the DF64 Gen 2. The Fellow ODE burrs should fit in the gen 2

@@CaffeMartellaSingapore thanks for the answer. I had some filter from a friend's ode and really liked it. However, I'm thinking about buying an espresso machine. So I went with the df64v2 for future proofing my needs.
