- Rough Country's new Wheel to Wheel Nerf Steps provide unrelenting style and easier access to your truck. These steps extend from one wheel well opening to the next, offering a clean install that lends to the look of your lifted truck.
Before you begin installation, review the included instructions and verify that you have all the required parts and hardware before proceeding. You'll also want to verify that you have all the proper tools before disassembling your vehicle.
To begin installation, Locate the drivers side nerf-step. To do so, look for the nerf-step that has the shorter tail bend. The shorter end will go toward the front of the vehicle.
Hold the nerf-step up the the pinch weld on the body of the vehicle with the angled flange below the body. The from tip of the nerf-step should be approximately 3/4 inch behind the fender well opening. If you have over sized tires, allow just enough clearance for steering.
Make a mark through the slotted holes on the pinch weld with each bracket.
Drill out each marked hole with a 3/8th inch drill bit. (Important): Make sure to drill dead center in the pinch weld, approximately 1/8 to 1/4 inch form the outside edge.
Starting with the center bracket, align the slotted holes in the bracket with the pre-drilled holes in the pinch weld. Next using the supplied bolts, insert through the aligned holes and finger tighten.
With all bolts inserted into the 3 brackets torque each bolt to 22 ft. lbs.
Repeat the previous steps on the passenger side to complete your installation.
As you can see, these steps can be installed on any vehicle, with or without a body lift. Our innovative design actually hides any exposed frame you see under the truck, offering extra protection for your rocker panels.

Badass looking but no way in hell these will hold up considering how rusty these trucks are. Why wouldnt you make brackets to mount to the cab mounts or the frame?
I wondered the same thing.. i love the look of these bars, but will not purchase them just based on poor mounting location..
I have these on my regular cab and they look pretty good and are surprisingly pretty sturdy even though my rockers aren't the best of shape. I just have a feeling after installing these its gonna help them rot out quicker.
I like Rough Country overall, but I have these and they are a poor fit. the angle of the tabs on the step bars makes the pinch weld bend to conform to the steps. I probably won't even install these if I can find an alternative.
will these fit a 04 suburban? been lookin everywhere for info
So my pinch weld/rockers are rougher than I thought and are rusty. Any reccomendations on install/ can I make these steps work. I already bought and have them but am not sure I can make them work. Thanks!
I am worried I will install them but the mounting points will not be structurally strong enough
I want this same lift. How high is this and do you have a link for it?

Will these fit a 2006 silverado crew cab?
These are compatible with the extended cab as shown in the photos or the regular cab only
can I put these on my extended cab 1994??
Will these work w/ an 8' bed?
No these are only compatible up to the 6'6" bed.
Wtf they couldn't engineer something better that mounts to the chasis???
do they fit 2005 4 door 1500
Yes these are compatible with the 4 door as well.
They look good but terrible design, should make them so they bolt up to the cab mount bolts
Regret purchasing because I didn't realize the regular only came with a single step. Have to pay an additional $240 for two steps. Seems ridiculous. Mounting looks flimsy, so I'll have to customize basically the entire thing to have the extra step and a solid mount. $175 though, not too bad. If you want the ones in the video, it's $415!
Im not 1 for complaining, but this installation looks very poor and not structurally strong at all.
