The 1100 is a big leap up from the 500 not only in engine size but in features. Rider modes, cruise control, instrumentation, rider comfort and more. You'll still need to change out the seat for something more comfortable. As far as suspension, you will most likely need to adjust the rear suspension but it is a simple adjustment. Compare this bike to the Indian Scout, Scout 60, 883, 1200 Sportster etc and the Rebel comes out on top for power, speed up to 100 mph and comfort.

1100 no question. Note the suspension is easily adjusted from 0 to 20 clicks on each side and comes out of the box set at 3. Most complaints did not adjust it for weight. Example - 205 set at 8 clicks versus the shipped 3 clicks.

I went from a 2018 500 to the 2022 1100. The 1100 felt like a HUGE improvement overall in SO MANY areas! Some of the complaints I had with the 2018 500 sounds like they addressed in the 2022 models. I HATED the 500's seat and found the stock 1100 was MUCH more comfortable! (though I do understand why many aren't a fan of it still). Sitting position while riding was better for me on the 1100 too (my father oddly preferred the 500's seating position more). I fell in LOVE with the 1100 after that test ride and traded my 500 in immediately after! I was even able to keep up with my father's Ninja 1000! I thought I wouldn't care for the riding modes that much initially but I use them every time I ride! It's not a perfect bike but definitely one of my favorites I ever rode and loving it!

I've had my honda rebel for 1 year and felt like it was time for something more powerful.I had an amazing time with this bike that teached me how to ride.I own a Harley Davidson 883XL 2004 since 2 weeks and the difference is beyond words

1100 is great. I'd recommend it and just keep it in Rain mode till you're comfortable. Rain mode dials down power a lot and cranks up traction control. Suspension does leave a lot to be desired but is definitely a step up compared to the 300/500. If you can snag one, do so. The 500 will leave you wanting more again once you've grown comfortable. The 1100 has stayed in my garage longer than my first two bikes (Rebel 300 and CB650R) and I still get excited jumping on it. Plus the 1100 community has been the most open and friendly community I've been apart of bike wise.

Bought the 1100 as my first street bike. Lots of experience on dirt bikes so it was very easy to get used to it. Acceleration is very fast for a cruiser so you can keep up with your buddies on sport bikes and casually slip into the cruiser group for long trips. A new seat is essential and should be standard when purchasing the 1100, the stock one is actually painful after 30 minutes.

With the ONLY exception I have found on YT and blogs, (Her Two Wheels, bright and experienced), all the other clowns refused, forgot, or were too stupid to adjust the suspension for their weight and riding preference. Preload adjustments are NOT difficult. With enough strength or a lever, a 3 year old can do it. Almost every one who complained about the suspension also admitted to being too dense to adjust it. Knowing this now, you need to take these people with a big grain of salt. See if you can do a test drive...change the suspension to the lighter side (as you appear smaller than the average male vlogger ;-)....let us know how it goes!
    Love this video! GOOD JOB!

I love my 1100. Downsides: Wider in certain dimensions, which may matter to smaller riders. Accessories are a bit more limited, for now, and it's confusing whether something is compatible from the 300/500 because not everything is. 1100 is very hard to come by, so good luck getting a test ride before you buy it.
If you want more power, *definitely* go for the 1100. It's fantastic. The different ride modes make it easy to get used to in Standard or make use of all that power in Sport mode. I leave it in Standard most of the time just because it's soooooo relaxing. It *can* go fast, but you don't feel like you *need* to go fast. I always felt like I wasn't doing my FJ-09 justice when I rode it slow.

    • @rpontonjr
      @rpontonjr 2 роки тому +9

@@JorgeRodriguez-vv9mj This is a common, but irrelevant question, IMHO. New riders are prone get bored of *any* bike you buy as your first bike. Who you are and what you want out of motorcycling evolves in the first 6 months.
Therefore, your first bike should be something that a) won't break your wallet and b) won't break your heart if you damage it. Do not get your dream bike as your first bike. You'll have time for that later.

My opinion is that the deciding factor between a 300 or 500 is,
    1. You weigh
    2. Where you going to ride, highway or street.
    3. Budget
The 300cc is perfect if you are less than a 200 pound person, drive mostly city, are on a tight budget.
The 500cc are for those bigger folks who will do freeway commute and and save or spend $2k extra.
As for the 1100, that's toy territory, period for experience riders, or newbs if you start on rain mode and move up, heavy folks and if you have a well financial status. Now, can you commute? Ocourse, but is like having a loaded turbo honda accord vs a base civic if you compare a 1100 to a 500 or 300. All will take you back and forth, but are you willing to pay for the "fun factor" or you just want a simple form of transportation.

cool video. i have a used 2019 Rebel with the orange tank (500) i love mine, bought it at 66 yrs old. wanted a Fury, but my credit wouldn't allow that. you should look at the shadow 750. depending how fast, what you can carry, the mods you can add, comfort, and i guess it looks like a harley. like i said my 500 is light weight, fast, cool looking bike. i have had it up to 90 mph, which is fast enough for me. good luck on your up grade. the 1100 is super cool, just a lot of power for someone as old as me, more power more tempting to go faster.

Great video lots of info. what I would ask the upgradee, what do you intend to do? lots of freeway driving? long distance cruising? if not then the 500 Rebel might be the answer as opposed to 300 or 1100 cc Rebel. the 1100 non Dct is a good bike for distances, the 300 is great in town short highway commutes but it seems the 500 has the in-between oomph to get you there and back with minimal effort. whatever you decide, you can't go wrong with a 500 or 1100cc upgrade! 😎🏍

I would recommend you just go past the 500 and get the Rebel 1100, I have a 2021 rebel 1100 Manual since i enjoy manual more than the automatic DCT. Also put a Vance and Hines Pipe on the rebel 1100 as well if you get it, for the vance and hines makes the rebel 1100 sound absolutely incredible. You get the tach, extra horsepower with the Rebel 1100. And to be honest just for this one option alone it is worth buying the rebel 1100 , The CRUISE CONTROL. you can't even get a cruise control on an Indian Scout. or any other bike unless you shell out about 15k for a bike. The stock suspension on the 1100 rebel is just fine i have never had any problems with it. be safe, Paul

I’m just sharing my opinion.

Depends on what you do with a motorcycle.
I think you will quickly out grow the 500 if you want to do any distance on the highway.
It will be more expensive to step up multiple times , but might be more in your comfort zone.
Personally the rebel 1100 is the single most uncomfortable motorcycle I’ve ever sat on. 500 small - 1100 weirdly absurdly uncomfortable.
