    VIDEO DESCRIPTION
2022 Middleweight Cruiser Motorcycle Options: Honda Rebel 500 is the best value for money cruiser but very competitive options are: the Honda Shadow Aero (Shadow VT750), the Yamaha Bolt R spec, Suzuki Boulevard C50 and the Kawasaki Vulcan S 650 among the Japanese cruisers. The Indian Scout Bobber Sixty and Harley Davidson Iron 883 Sportster are comparable American options.
Upcoming cruiser motorcycles in 2022: Indian manufacturer Royal Enfield is also launching two new bikes in mid to late 2022 : the Super Meteor 650, which is a cruiser and the Shotgun 650 (SG650), which is a bobber. SG650 was recently showcased at EICMA and the Super Meteor has been spotted on streets of India during testing.
Overall Middleweight Cruiser options for beginners and experienced riders in 2022: For beginner riders looking for the cheapest cruisers in the market segment and for experienced riders who are looking for reasonably priced and reliable new cruisers, 2022 is coming up with great options! 4 of these middleweight cruisers - Rebel 500, Vulcan S 650, Shadow Aero and Shadow phantom are priced under $8,000 in the US and 3 slightly bigger engine cruisers - Suzuki Boulevard C50, Yamaha Bolt R Spec and Indian Scout Bobber Sixty are priced under the $9,000 mark. Infact, Harley Davidson Iron 883 Sportster is the only cruiser in the middleweight segment that costs a little over $10,000 in the US. The Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650 & Shotgun 650 would likely dethrone the Rebel 500 as the cheapest cruiser motorcycles since their Royal Enfield siblings the INT 650 & Continental GT 650 are already among some of the cheapest motorcycles in their class.
As always, in this video i compare specs like engine capacity, power, torque, top speed, weight, seat height, rider aids, comfort, fuel capacity and range and prices in USA, UK, Australia and India to help my viewers across the different country have a thorough understanding of how all these cruiser motorcycles compare to each other and what are the upcoming motorcycles in 2022.
Bikes covered and compared in the video are:
    Japanese Cruisers (Metric Cruisers)
2022 Honda Rebel 500 (Called CMX500 Rebel in UK)
2022 Kawasaki Vulcan S 650 (Vulcan VS Evo video on / srkcycles )
2022 Honda Shadow AERO (Called Shadow VT750 previously)
    2022 Honda Shadow Phantom
    2021 Suzuki Boulevard C50
    2022 Yamaha Bolt R Spec (2020 XV950R in UK)
    American Cruisers
    2022 Indian Scout Bobber Sixty
2022 Harley Davidson Iron 883 Sportster
    Indian Cruisers
2022 Royal Enfield Shotgun 650 (Code named SG650)
2022 Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650

Getting back to riding after three years, I bought an older Volusia (a 2003 model), carburetor operated - and I see only very few and very minor differences in overall performance and none zero in my feeling of satisfaction. Great bike.

A motorcycle club or despatch riders know about bikes and reliability especially mechanics and older enthusiasts and old boys who are still riding as many of us were or are relying on our bikes everyday for transport, specially some of us working in heavy industries with poor pay and high rents like in london suburbs. At £100 + per hour for a mechanic to work on some bikes, especially bikes like BMW, Harley and Ducati for example but also some others, keeping to proven, reliable, basic bikes we can work on ourselves like suzuki v strom or even harley sportsters makes sense but if you buy one new or pcp, ride it until the warrenty runs out and sell it. Getting valve shims done on some wont be cheap even on a yamaha supertenere, although its a great touring bike, shaft drive where with regular oil and filter changes, the shims may well be still within spec, even after 50000 miles and the v strom suzuki will probably be within spec also.. But in the real world many dont realise bike of the year winners like the triumph street triple won it due to great performance, reliability and especially handling all cheaper than many other bikes of a similar displacement but Yamaha MT07, 09 engines amongst others like some honda 4s and kawasakis are great.

Hard to beat that value eh ?!?

Oh you’re going to be in for a treat, I’ve always liked touring and track and am madly in love with the Whee Strom! You know the torque we all love on the strom (among a million other things), cruisers are all about that. The only thing that feels un-natural to me about cruisers is the riding position with the feet forward but there are several with mid controls. Very cool & agree.
On the day I bought my V-Strom, the Used Cycle Dealer had several metric cruisers & I test rode also a large Vstar 1300 (?) and the mid-size Vstar 650.
      (Besides my V-Strom)
Frankly the larger 1300 handled like the Queen Mary, very slow & sedate - felt borderline dangerous !
The V-Star 650 was entirely different & better - nimble for a cruiser, correct size & heft, rode perfect.
It was immaculate also & just $2850 !
It's a good thing I had my small trailer & some $$$ restrictions or I'd have bought it + my V-Strom lol both.

Oops... I bought my first cruiser before watching this... I got an Indian Scout Bobber. 1133 CC's and it's pretty easy to learn on. Sure a little heavy in the slow maneuvers but it feels flickable at speed. There's a lot of power there so just need some throttle discipline.

Great video dude. I'm considering buying a Kawasaki Vulcan 2019 as my daily commuter in the city. What do you think? Is it up for the task or the suspension is not that comfortable for that?

    • @RiderXp

Thanks! I’d say go for it. I got the opportunity to test ride the Vulcan a few months after making this video. The engine is engaging and very tractable for around town riding & fun for highway cruising. Suspension is pretty good for the price point. If you are in the US, check Kawasaki’s demo ride calendar on their website, you might be able to find one in your area for a test ride as well. Good luck!

The triumph bonneville bobber is nice and seems to be reliable. Royal Enfields have benefit of price but the quality is questionable and like Harley, the finishes seem to tarnish and fasteners and mudguards and exhausts for example and centrestands seem to rust badly as the durability is poor due to cost cutting with paint quality. The old 1950s BSA bikes chrome, paint and finish as well as the frames were treally good and the chrome quality was even better than the old japanese bikes like the yamaha XS6t0, Honda 750 fours and kawasaki and suzuki z and gs series of bikes which were built like tanks and would do 50000 miles or more just with basic maintenance of oil, filter and greasing of bearings, bushes and occasional brake pads replacement and maintenance of brake fluid and brake caliper servicing and rear chain maintenance. I rode a high mileage suzuki GS 750 around Adelaide every day x and crossed from Adelaide to Melbourne then to Sydney then inland over 200 miles and back and running around sydney and new south wales several months in 1987, the bike cost less than 500 usd and never missed a beat even with points and no electronic ignition. Even with over 90000 kms on the speedo it was a superb, durable and reliable bike good for 120mph even then and you could thrash the hell out of those engines and if you kept the oil level correct and changed it even in those days when i used castrol which was a market leader in oil the engines were superb and the old gs1000 fours were even drag raced and heavily tuned running turbos and nitros injection and the crankshafts were well known amongst tuners as being amonst the very strongest. Now the busas and gsxr motors are also legendary and well done to suzukis designers for that. Its not for nothing their engine reputation when you see DR650s, V Stroms racking up huge mileages frequently.

I wouldnt toch a bike with the millwaukee engine with a bargepole or the enfield 650 compared to yamaha bolt. The rocket 3 triumph maybe 24K usd but its a helluva lot of bike for the money, very fast, comfortable and very reliable and there are many 2.3 rockets on the secondhand market with well over 50K miles on them and many owners love them. I love the triumph thunderbird 1700 twin and the LT is fully dressed and a really beautiful bike with beautiful paint and finish and the 1600 is a bit down on power compared to the 1700 but the torque figures in the real world is really good in that it pulls like a train from almost tickover and the thunderbird sport and commander 1700 are badass looking with the twin headlights and great standard styling but put a more open pipe and it will breathe better and will run better. I cant believe the great value secondhand in the states and they keep their value well here in europe as theyre getting a great reputation as a bike that lasts well, is durable and reliable and the real deal.

They're all good bikes. There's really no doubt, you absolutely cannot go wrong with any of them. They're all reliable and affordable. So buy the bike that speaks to you the most. Test ride em all.
For me personally, it would absolutely be the Bolt. It sounds great, and it is a bobber to the core. Throw some 14" ape hangers on there and some forward controls.
