Rebels are great bikes for the price, a few of my family members started out on them. It's cool to see a you cruising through Lehi, I grew up there back when it was just the high school and the roller mills and empty fields. Fun to see it grow to how it is today. MT-09s are super popular, can't really go wrong with one, yammynoob is a big fan of them. I got myself the 2022 Indian FTR standard back in April after I traded in my Focus RS for an F150 and needed something to satiate my need for speed. The more this type of content like yours spreads the better, more people should drive motorcycles, especially with the insane number of commuters in our state. Keep it going :D
I have a 2021 rebel 500 myself and its absolutely the best bike a beginner like me could find. The first bike I ever rode and practiced riding on was actually a recent yamaha r6, the 50th anniversary edition I believe, because it was my stepdads, and boy was that thing rough for me, I love the speed but everything else about it was just too much, I got like neck and back pain after 20 minutes on it. But long story short how come you went for a rebel 500 instead of the 1100, don’t get me wrong I love my 500 but sometimes I wish I just had more power
I rode Japanese bikes for about 15 years, then I did Harley's for the past 17 years, mostly Sportsters. I don't really like the direction Harley is going lately and once they discontinue the Evo Sportster at the end of this year I'm done with them. So I've been looking at Honda's, Yamahas, Suzuki's, and Kawasaki's lately. I really like what they've done with the Rebel 500 and I think if I was in the market right now for a brand new bike I would definitely have to take one of these for a ride. For those that think 500 cc motorcycle is small, take a look at a 1981 GL500 Honda Silver Wing interstate. I took one of those halfway around the country, literally. There was a time when a 750 was considered the big bike that people wanted to graduate to and the 400-650 bikes were the average size motorcycle that just about everybody rode.
Gosh I love Rebel 500 so much. I've been watching it everyday in UA-cam. It will never arrive in my country. I just have to see this beautiful bike in videos. The built, body and design of this bike is perfect, and pretty. I've never seen a bike prettier than this.
Bro I literally just clicked on the video because of how dope the bike looks in the thumbnail. A little into the video I realized and paid attention to the road, and noticed that you're just here in UT County, I know exactly where that Maverick was by the round about 🤣
If I have a garage like you I would never regret any bikes. Different bikes for different purpose. Communing / riding with the boys / riding with chicks / running errands / Slaying
Such beautiful skies and scenery. You're living my dream! I'm in a polluted, crowded city in southeast Asia. Quite a difference in my daily rides from yours!
people get to caught up in getting the biggest and baddest, but there is a ton of fun in smaller displacement bikes. i miss my rebel 250. my first bike. someone stole it.
gotta say i love the cowl and tan grips, maybe throw on a tan leather seat as well, it looks good when everything is blacked out so i bet it looks good with those grips
I've had my Rebel for about a year and a half now, and I absolutely love it. I do wish it were the 1100, but it was perfect as a starter bike. I even have those same Vans grips that you have.
I feel you wanting to keep miles off the GTi. I have 108k on my 2016. I commute a lot! Been looking at the rebel 500 a while. My last bike was a Z125 which isn’t freeway legal so I sold it and haven’t replaced it yet. Thanks for this video and making me want a rebel even more. I wish it had a bigger budget but… that’s just how it is. Cheers to a fellow VW head.
You could also get one of Honda's other 500's. The cb500f and cbr500r have a the same motor, but they changed something for the rebel to give it more a cruiser thump. So I imagine the other two are abit lighter feeling.
I regretted getting mine after 5 days of ownership it was my first bike so good starter bike but definitely wish I got a 600 I just didn’t know what I wanted at the time but it is a good cruiser daily driver though I sold it and got a Toyota as a daily I will ride again one day! Your rebel looks dope!
Saw a guy yesterday riding one. I caught up to him for a bit and the only thing that I had an issue with was the engine sound, it sounds tiny for a cruiser. The bike looks great in person.
I think this bike looks very nice, esp with the brown grips. I learned on one of these before I took my test, so I have a soft spot for them. But they look and sound great. Well done.
Nice mods! I am getting my first Rebel 500 too. You also mentioned modifying your rear fender to look more like a bobber style. Would you recommend replacing the tires with thicker ones like some off road look? I plan to mod my bike to look like that. What do you think?
@@ItsJustJakeYT Right? and then if you want, you can drop down the handle bar some more to make it really look like a cafe racer. ;) Just my thoughts. Thanks again.
You'd have to check the clearances on the swingarm and brakes maybe. But the Swingarm might be the only limitation if you don't bottom out the rear shock.
Last year I traded in my zx6r for a 2021 Kawasaki Vulcan S ABS and I’m still amazed how fun the bike is to ride. I don’t care about speed and I’m not trying to pay a fortune for insurance so I think the low cc bikes are perfect.
It depends on how you see it. In America (or the US specifically) people see these bikes (the rebel and Vulcan) as low cc bikes, but in almost any other part of the world they are considered mid-big bikes because everybody rides 125cc to 250cc bikes as commuter bikes or as weekend bikes
I keep so many miles off my cars by shopping and running errands on my bikes. I have a Cub with a milk crate and I have a day pack for groceries. Try it. It makes it fun to grocery shop. Sounds lame, but you will notice a difference. It's a lifestyle. I get 115MPG on the cub.
My Rebel 500 is an excellent second bike, not my main bike Ducati xDiavel, that is for my gf or guest. Easy to ride. Perfect for a starter bike. Fun, basic motorcycling. Brilliant.
I’ve had a dirt bike, never a motorcycle, and I wouldn’t mind getting one of these as a beginner, especially just to go to and from work which isn’t too far from where I live, so it would be nice.
2010 Yamaha R6 horsepower = 129@14,500 RPM Honda Rebel 500 = 46 HP . Sometimes people think displacement is a very good indicator of power..... it is not.
its a nice looking bike but i hated driving it because i found that it lacks power on the highway and its not confortable. the suspension is so hard you feel everybump but the worst thing for me was the engine/transmission offset on the right peg, makes my leg and feet unconfortable after a while. Anyway I just bought my 1200C harley sportsters and now Im happy :D
My son bought a brand new 2021 Rebel 500 last year and loved it but ended up selling it about seven months later because that’s how long it took for him to outgrow it.
This was one of the bikes I was lookin into purchasing when I was looking for my first bike, I ended up getting the Indian scout bobber but I know I would of definitely enjoyed the rebel
@@daddylongleg21 hi there, I love my scout bobber bro. Pros: PLENTY of power, great looks, lots of fun to ride. Cons: REPLACE THE SEAT! 😂😂 Very low bike which is a great look but not a lot of leaning availability, the suspension is good but again, because it’s a low bike, it’s a little rougher ride than a bagger. It’s a bobber so it’s pretty much a naked cruiser “race bike” I don’t regret buying it at all. There’s other bikes that offer you more features like cruise control, traction control, screen odometer for the same price, but my Indian is a fantastic traditional good ol’ American experience
@@Gussi145 seriously thank you so much for this. I’m 5’6 so I was hoping it’d be a good low bike for me. I want something I can grow into once I get more comfortable.
Cool video, I liked how natural you are plain and simple and to the point, not evenly sure why I clicked on this video it is not a bike am interested in, but I do like how raw it sounded, I think it is a good in town little bike, it is always good to keep a Lott bike for local errands and a big bike for long distance cruising, so that bike seems pretty cool for what it is, but I think I would still rather have a Sporster Iron instead.
I’m late but I was watching the video and was like hey that landscape looks familiar. Wait that road looks familiar. Wait those buildings look familiar. Lol you live like right next to me bro. 801 represent
Best video I've seen on the Rebel 500 buddy, I had a 2004 R33 but I let it go 😢. I do have a 2016 Jetta Sport 1.8T & I still have my 2003 Passat W8 and it rocks. Anyway, thank you again for the great review!
some of those breakin in period things are complete myths, you basically shave material off the inside of the engine block, that is the break in period, to get a perfect seal between the engine block and the pistons, if you go for a long ride on the freeride it's bad because of the constant heat in the new engine, if you don't ride that long it's fine, you shouldn't rev it like crazy but at the same time you should definitely not only drive in mid rpm like some people claim, that bike isn't only gonna be moved in the mid rpm so it wouldn't do it any service while breaking in
I haven’t thought about having a bike for 30 some years, since I sold my 78 Suzuki GS 850. I happened on a random video about someone making a cafe racer out of one, which was really cool, now all of a sudden I’m feeling the itch to get a bike again. I’m really intrigued by these Rebels. I’m not interested in a super fast sport bike or a huge, heavy Harley, and one of these seems like a fun lightweight ride. I don’t need or want a powerhouse.
I have a Harley Nightster. And a complicated relationship with it. I think this rebel is a better choice between the two. Especially on price. I essentially payed the price of a car for Honda with a Harley Nameplate.
I have the 2022 model and sometimes when I’m down in Mexico I’ll try to see how fast I can get it. I can usually get it up to about 103mph. I’m a small dude so it really doesn’t struggle too much until high 90s.
Dude you have to do the full mod out that would be so sick. Full system two brothers exhaust, New radiator, Flash the ecu, maybe drop a tooth on the front sprocket, and a power commander. That is what I am planning on doing this summer you should go for it
Well for me this past winter too cold to ride was not in my vocabulary. The coldest time ridden was 14°F and I did that for an hour and 20 minutes one way both ways.
My 83 yr dad just bought a Honda Rebel 500. Cool dad! Cheers/Tom Yamaha Tracer 9GT (Yes so much faster and louder) Yamaha Tricity 300 (Perfect every day)
I have a 2021 Rebel 500 I bought in March 2022. It’s a great bike. Yes, you could always get more power and I thought it would get boring fast but once you get used to the power band, it’s totally fine. It takes a lot of work to keep it above 75mph but honestly it’s just not the type of bike to hang out up there. It’s too light and blows you around too much to really be pushing those speeds.
I have the same exact model bro, of course I feel like a need more power, but I love that is reliable and easy to drive. I already put a leo vince exhaust and it sounds amazing and nasty, and planning to change the handlebars. Overall great motorcycle!!!
Your garage is disturbingly clean and crisp, it looks like a dystopian prison. Looks like a prison cell in the capitol, looks like a place peacekeepers throw enemies of the state
Nice video, thanks for the info. If you don't mind me asking, how tall are you? I'm around 6' and worried I may be a bit big for the bike. I have a deposit down, but could switch it to the Shadow Phantom which I also like.
Let it rev! ALL your POWER is at the TOP end of the RPM range. Let it rev!! your power is at 6000, and it revs to 10k!! YOULL find a brand new power if you rev it out before shifting!!
As much as I love my car, as I am a car enthusiast, I've also wanted to get a cruiser style bike multiple times before too (been eyeing the Rebel 500 and the 1100), just to ride it on the mountain roads on the weekend for fun
Garage looks great, I love the floors. Ah, the pain of having to completely reshoot… we’ve all been there…. Nothing wrong with that 500 if you’re skinny enough for a 500….
So, let me ask a question. I'm very new to the motorcycle game. I actually just parked my F250 and bought a honda metropolitan (Yes, I know, leave me alone, lol). This is the first thing I have ever ridden. It's only a 50 cc and in Texas, I don't need a moto license, just my DL. My town is only 2 miles wide so it works just fine for me. However, I love riding this thing but I will give it over to my kiddo when she hits 16 in a year or when gas rebounds. I'm already looking at my next "bike". With that, I'm also looking into keeping the fully auto feature and I saw the Rebel 1100 has that. Would 1100 be too much bike and I should look into something else? Now that I'm used to riding it 35 in a 45 is not so cool. I've also thought about just going to a 150cc Vespa. Just not sure about the power difference in 50 and 1500cc, is it really that much or not really? Btw, I'm a ripe old man at 43 ;)

If you know someone with a trailer you can borrow, that is even better for if you want to buy one out of state. If its a Kawasaki that you only ride every once in a while, it will last you over a decade lol.
We love our Utah guys!
I have an FTR Carbon, but really wanna get a Rebel 500 for cruising and shit.
The mirrors and different color grips are clean, like the bike bro!!
That’s sick it would look dope if you added a brown seat to match the handlebars
Taking a motorcycle ride to save your favorite car mileage is dope. It is awesome to hear that I am not the only one that thinks that way. =D
Gosh I love Rebel 500 so much. I've been watching it everyday in UA-cam. It will never arrive in my country. I just have to see this beautiful bike in videos. The built, body and design of this bike is perfect, and pretty. I've never seen a bike prettier than this.
Could you not get it imported though or are there some weird laws that does not allow that.
@@duckwithdrum idk could we do such things? We just buy whatever the company imports from outside and Honda has never imported Rebel series here.
Beautiful Bike . I used to have Rebel 500 i liked it. I changed exhaust made it sound better now I own harley davidson sportster. thanks for the video
“I was gonna honk the crap out of it but she waved” love it
I think this bike looks very nice, esp with the brown grips. I learned on one of these before I took my test, so I have a soft spot for them. But they look and sound great. Well done.
🤘🏼🤘🏼
Nice mods! I am getting my first Rebel 500 too. You also mentioned modifying your rear fender to look more like a bobber style. Would you recommend replacing the tires with thicker ones like some off road look? I plan to mod my bike to look like that. What do you think?
That would be sick! Deleting the rear fender is a pretty “involved” modification. But after doing so, a bigger rear tire would look super good!
In America (or the US specifically) people see these bikes (the rebel and Vulcan) as low cc bikes, but in almost any other part of the world they are considered mid-big bikes because everybody rides 125cc to 250cc bikes as commuter bikes or as weekend bikes
yep fair assessment Jake. Many folks mistake it for a Harley. and next to my brothers Harley, hard to tell. It's a great bike.
You need a brown leather saddle to match the grips! Love the grips, but do a little color complimenting haha. Great review!
I’ve thought about getting the brown seat! Would look way dope!
If you're asking yourself if you regret it - you regret it.
... deeply !
Awesome Bike, looks cool and comfortable. You should go with those mod ideas and keep it around
This one is just beautiful, I'm sure when I get my hands on it, it will be worth every penny.
My Rebel 500 is an excellent second bike, not my main bike Ducati xDiavel, that is for my gf or guest. Easy to ride. Perfect for a starter bike. Fun, basic motorcycling. Brilliant.
It sounds like the ECM unlocked the full engine potential after a certain number of break in miles were reached...
Omg she sounds so good… that deep bumble is intoxicating.
I’ve had a dirt bike, never a motorcycle, and I wouldn’t mind getting one of these as a beginner, especially just to go to and from work which isn’t too far from where I live, so it would be nice.
My first bike was an '81 CB650C.
Neighbour has a rebel 500. I was always incredibly jealous that his bike always started on the first try....
Sorry to hear about the downgrade, buddy.
I learned to ride on a rebel 500 this year. I upgraded in about 3 months. Fun bike though and great for learning.
I would say you couldn’t have gone wrong either way!
@@ItsJustJakeYT idc, I absolutely love my Indian 😂
Looking at the Indian scout bobber. How do you like it?
@@daddylongleg21 hi there, I love my scout bobber bro.
Pros:
PLENTY of power, great looks, lots of fun to ride.
Cons:
REPLACE THE SEAT! 😂😂
Very low bike which is a great look but not a lot of leaning availability, the suspension is good but again, because it’s a low bike, it’s a little rougher ride than a bagger.
It’s awesome that men are comfortable enough with their masculinity to ride women’s bikes. It really shows how far we’ve come as a species. 👍
Thanks for your patriotism 🫡
Hell yea bro!
Best video I've seen on the Rebel 500 buddy, I had a 2004 R33 but I let it go 😢. I do have a 2016 Jetta Sport 1.8T & I still have my 2003 Passat W8 and it rocks. Anyway, thank you again for the great review!
Thank you sir!
some of those breakin in period things are complete myths, you basically shave material off the inside of the engine block, that is the break in period, to get a perfect seal between the engine block and the pistons, if you go for a long ride on the freeride it's bad because of the constant heat in the new engine, if you don't ride that long it's fine, you shouldn't rev it like crazy but at the same time you should definitely not only drive in mid rpm like some people claim, that bike isn't only gonna be moved in the mid rpm so it wouldn't do it any service while breaking in
Feel you on that wave…lol I always ready to flip off until I get wave, Yup we all make mistakes but let’s stay safe
It’s a copy of a HD Iron 883. But probably more reliable and a hell of a lot cheaper. Be a great starter bike.
I ride a 500 as well, and I can’t ride that motorbike enough!!!
If I ever switch to this type of bike design. It would be a Rebel one.
I’m a small dude so it really doesn’t struggle too much until high 90s.
its so sad that Honda stoped producing the rebel model to brazil around 2010 :( wish we could get that here
Loving the terrazzo-looking epoxy floor coating…
What a beautiful bike man ! Ride safe man ! i will test ride this bike soon !
Just researching getting one of these and realized I must not live far from you I recognized where you were a few minutes in lol
🤘🏼
Bro, dont sell it. Its a beautiful bike, keep it for your commute. Im going to get one after watching this. Its delicious.
I'm deciding between the 2023 Rebel 500 and the 2023 CB500f I'm not too sure yet. I'm a new rider.
Dude you have to do the full mod out that would be so sick. Full system two brothers exhaust, New radiator, Flash the ecu, maybe drop a tooth on the front sprocket, and a power commander. That is what I am planning on doing this summer you should go for it
That would be dope!
Was watching the vid for 5 minutes before realizing i live in the same city...
I did the same thing.
Me too!
I worked at Micron.

When he was on the brink of having a tantrum cause of the woman cutting in, and then realised that she "waved"...
What a legend!
People really have no sense of humor these days huh…….
@@ItsJustJakeYT yeah some people just burst when people do shit like this (even if its by accident). They got anger issues lol!
Well for me this past winter too cold to ride was not in my vocabulary. The coldest time ridden was 14°F and I did that for an hour and 20 minutes one way both ways.
Don’t think I ever heard an American mention a Golf GTI before. They’re very big with petrolheads in Europe.
I am looking for my first "motor cycle" scooter guy right now, it's all new to me at the ripe ole' age of 58.
My 83 yr dad just bought a Honda Rebel 500. Cool dad!
Cheers/Tom
Yamaha Tracer 9GT (Yes so much faster and louder)
Yamaha Tricity 300 (Perfect every day)
I have a 2021 Rebel 500 I bought in March 2022.
I fight 75mph on my klx300sm to get to work. Not fun
Exactly one year and 2700 miles later, its' excellent.
hole winter issue could be help by using heated grips on the bike and maybe install a heated seat
I've just got mine today and it's a Great little bike 😊❤
Ayeeee i have a golf R and im picking up my rebel 500 Friday! 🔥 good combo😉
That finder delete looks insane, I want to get one now. Unfortunately my girl said if I get another bike she's leaving lol
Those "vans" grips are dope af!
Nice shots of the bike with the stake center behind it
I have the same exact model bro, of course I feel like a need more power, but I love that is reliable and easy to drive. I already put a leo vince exhaust and it sounds amazing and nasty, and planning to change the handlebars. Overall great motorcycle!!!
Your garage is disturbingly clean and crisp, it looks like a dystopian prison. Looks like a prison cell in the capitol, looks like a place peacekeepers throw enemies of the state
Looks like a garage that just got re-finished
I like quiet, something to think about when kool sounds help heads look up.
It’s cool, I just can’t get over how it sounds like my Honda foreman.
Great video of a good bike. I wish these smaller capacity engines were available in larger frames so that my lanky body could fit on them...
Yea i feel like if the bike were just a bit bigger it would make for alot more sales!
I think I read that someone makes forward controls for the 500.
Nice video, thanks for the info. If you don't mind me asking, how tall are you? I'm around 6' and worried I may be a bit big for the bike. I have a deposit down, but could switch it to the Shadow Phantom which I also like.
Im about 5’11 on a good day haha. I feel like any taller than 6 feet may feel a little “Awkward”
Pulling up in the LDS Church parking lot with a bike like that is goated
I love the under bar mirrors
i feel like motovlogging is making a come back
So, let me ask a question. Btw, I'm a ripe old man at 43 ;)
For some reason I see a lot of these on market place with low miles, could be just a coincidence but I get the feeling people get tired of these fast.
There more starter for some. People ride for a year or 2, get comfortable, then jump up to something bigger.
I'm definitely interested in getting a motorcycle and this is along with the iron 883 are my top two choices for my first bike thanks for the review!
I feel your predicament man. I want to get a bike to help keep miles off of my 370Z.
Some people dont understand the feeling😂
Your voice sounded really familiar, then I scrolled through your channel and realized who you were, I used to watch your edc videos, when they were on your channel
Right on!🤘🏼
Mountains in the back looks cool
