Love the build. Im impressed with how well the 10 bolt has held up.I wouldnt sweat the airflow mod.I dont think anyone but you and your subscribers will notice but im sure your intercooler will thank you.
Of all the upgrades I've done on my truck, the full Power Stop brake kit is by far the one I'm most pleased with. It costs less than the same OEM parts, it's quality, and the braking improvement is excellent. Plus the drilling and slotting makes the braking better and more consistent in any weather plus the pads and rotors last forever. Sway bars are such an overlooked upgrade on street trucks yet they make a huge difference in handling.
I think the new valance looks great! Your intercooler is still pretty damn low-key, in my opinion. It could be easily be mistaken for an oil cooler or power steering cooler, if it gets noticed at all.
There is no way I would pick up on anything hidden under the hood. Perfect job. Of course. Rock star dude. Rock star. Next video out and you’ll be at 50!!!!
@@eaglethehulk8539 funny I just found this exact sway bar on Facebook along with some caltracs and some QA1 double adjustable shocks.. I was shocked he let all this go for 350. This just boosted my truck to another level
Same reason for why I never bought Calvert cal tracks for my 04 rcsb silverado, especially since I live in an area where there’s lots of curves and mountains. In a perfect world I’d love having a nascar type of rear trailing arm suspension, but the gas tank is in the way. When my budget is met A parallel 4 link will definitely be the next best solution. For now as a budget alternative I’m thinking of picking up a set of Gm’s new composite leaf springs that are now used on some Silverado and Sierra models and converting them to my truck. Since they’re lighter than steel they might handle better as well.
Bra this build is clean af, you’re doing a great job. Can honestly say I didn’t like you prior to the AWD Silverado but your pretty cool dude. Now you have your own show is actually nice, thanks for the content.
To simply put it; If understeering, soften the front roll bar and/or stiffen the rear. If oversteering, stiffen the front roll bar and/or soften the rear. It can be a little more complex than that and other factors can also be put into the equation but that's more or less what you do with tuning roll bars.
10 seconds in, I’m in love with the truck Lmaoo. I’ve been holding back on getting a 2/4 drop. I even have new bell tech shocks waiting for me at home. I might just order the kit tonight including these sways! Dope video!
Love the truck and build. If you dont like the valance you could add a mesh to it to help cover it up but still flow air through it so no one would notice it but it looks god to me keep it up !!!
This is going to be a fun truck to drive!! The intercooler looked good and it is low enough that the majority of people won't Even notice it and the sway bar upgrades should be really nice! Looking forward to seeing the next video!
Joke's on you. Sway bar end links are always tight to install. I like the new vented lower valance better than the original air dam. She should handle better better. I used a set of over the axle traction bars. I didn't have much of a wheelhop issue, but I knew I was going to add traction and weight and power and didn't want any hopping. I got mine from tough county. They have a bracket on top of your spring and bolt to your front spring hanger. Not as noticeable or obnoxious as regular 6' traction bars that you see on every diesel truck. Building a custom 4 link would be great. I'd like to see how you determine the geometry.. and how the different length bars and locations affect handling.
We don’t have trucks like this in the UK and due to stratospheric insurance prices the tuning side of things, swapping engines etc is very costly. So I’m loving watching this build.
@@LawrenceTolman your vids are great, I always look forward to the next update. I mean there is some tuning/modifying, but the costs seem way higher than you guys pay for parts etc. Then like I said UK insurance is madness and then the road tax too. 🤦🏻♂️ it’s not worth the hassle most of the time. Very frustrating.
Be safe LT thank you for your video I enjoy all of them I see that a lot of the shows that I watch are no longer on TV I see Tony Angelo has gone his own way as well I wish the best for everybody
Perfect timing! I just today went to install my Hellwig rear sway bar on my ls swapped 97 k1500. Unfortunately the two axle brackets in the kit were wrong. They're sending me the correct ones.
Stiffer encourages more oversteer from the rear. Looser encourages more understeer. Or less likely to rotate. Looser is always safer and with a rwd application you can still corner well with more throttle. You want it tighter if you don't have power have a fwd car or you are more concerned for cornering off throttle. Like an autox. These are some generic guidelines. I got the beltech front and rear bar and they aren't adjustable but if I had a tighter front I'd enjoy that alot.
@@chasnelson5753 that'll preload the sway bar sure. What I could do is make some hiems jointed endlinks with a physically bigger bar and that could help too
I like the valance, I think if it were black like the top of the bumper the intercooler would blend in better. Also I’ve used heat guns or little torches to round over and smooth plastic air dams and fender wells with good results. Keep up the cool content!
On the lower air dam put some honeycomb punched metal or some stainless hardware cloth and paint it black. It will help hide the cooler and protect it from rock hits. You barely notice it as is.
Sway bars are a bit counter-intuitive: A rear sway bar increases UNDERsteer, while a front sway bar increases OVERsteer. Since only the rear is adjustable in your case, if you have oversteer tighten the rear sway bar (holes closer to axle) and if you have understeer loosen the rear sway bar (holes farther from axle). Just a rule of thumb, but hope it helps! Keep up the good work LT!
Speed engineering makes great traction bars for that year truck. I've been looking at them for a while and they are great for the price! It'll work great on fixing the wheel hop.
If I were to do a temporary setup, I'd just make a quick set of traction bars. Few feet of 2in dom and heims and some 3/16 plate to make frame mounts. Axle hop eliminated for under $300
I love your hoonigan hat...fits ugly truck perfectly 😂😂 maybe you should do a collaboration with Zach from Hoonigan your gmt400 suburban build and his square body blazer build
@Lawrence LT Tolman, are you thinking about going with an AAM 10.5 or 11.5" 14 bolt full float rear end? If you are, are you going to find 6 lug hubs for the rear end so you can use your current wheels? Paint the low bumper scoop with an auto primer and a durable enamel/polyurethane coat of black color to hide the cooler. I cant wait to do some stuff on my 07 classic (gmt800). What if you put a fine-ish black mesh screen over the hole in your valance. That may hide the intercooler a little more and still give increased airflow.
What happened to gm? They used to make sport trucks in the 90s and 2000s. The cyclone, 454 ss, and the Silverado ss. Ugly truck is looking good. You can call it a 496 ss.
I like the idea of converting it over to a four link with coilovers but do you know what would make it even better to add a Watts link to that setup you got more than enough room on a pickup truck to package that in there and it would be cool
LT, big fan of the new venture on the channel! Love the builds and am excited for more! Had a question for you. The Allison 1000 transmission that would come standard with the Vortec 8100, could it be adapted to other Chevy big blocks? If not, what heavier-duty transmission would you recommend for a 650 lbft big block 1 ton truck or 3/4 ton suburban? Looking forward to more great videos!
yeah, in theory you could put any GM engine in front of an allison, it would just need the 4L80 flexplate for the larger converter bolt pattern. As far as your truck, a peoperly built 4L80 might be a better choice, they can hold the power no problem, they shift quicker, and standalone or EFI controllers are much easier to come by than a standalone for an allison.
Doing the rear sway bar by Bell tech on my 03 rcsb this weekend. I actually considering swamping the front out also but is front really worth the $$$ ?
This has got to be my favourite build series on UA-cam right now
It's a badass build no doubt but I'm finding myself more and more bored with the channel lately for some reason. And I am GM truck fanatic.
Love the build. Im impressed with how well the 10 bolt has held up.I wouldnt sweat the airflow mod.I dont think anyone but you and your subscribers will notice but im sure your intercooler will thank you.
When you stiffen one end it breaks traction sooner. So if it understeers, tighten the rear sway bar. If it oversteers then adjust the rear looser.
With your weather now,you can have powdered donuts...😁😁💪💪
My favorite UA-camrs are all under 40k subs, such a shame because every one of them deserves way more.

what differences do you feel /see?

Might want to put a few small beads of weld on those brackets so they don't spin on the axle tube or crossmember.

Paint your front tow hooks to draw your eyes from the inter cooler area. Like red or something. Build is coming along great!
Paint the heat exchanger the same color grey as the front airdam to help camouflage it.
Clamping the front of the springs helps, but does make for a stiffer ride for sure.
Gotta get a Currie 9” and chromo axles back there. That lil 10 bolt is going to get cranky when you rebuild the bottom end.
