- Got another stainless cabinet up and running. while I was testing I decided to try out a new nozzle design. pretty happy with it so far so will continue to develop this model.
have a much better access to ceramic sizes.

How many PSI do you think you had at the nozzle?
if I purchase the STL files does it include different air jet sizes? I run a 3.2 HP 60 gallon which requires a 2.5mm air jet. Also if you make changes/updates are those available for free after I purchase? Thanks for all the great info.
Hi Dan,
This gun is different to the 3d gun I have on my website. The one off the website was designed more as a diagnostic tool to work out whether someone's gun is causing performance issues, so it only has the one size of air jet. The files for this gun are not yet available as its currently a proprietary product that I use with my smaller cabinets.

Have you tested with any longer nozzles for the increased velocity?
Not this particular nozzle. These ceramics are longer than the previous ones. I have tested the different lengths on the ebay style guns though. Without measuring its hard to tell about velocity, but the tighter spray pattern of the longer nozzles definitely are an improvement.

Hi Josh, Love your videos! I am building a vapor blasting setup using a 30cfm compressor, 1000W 19,500LPH dirty water pump, 100 grit aluminium oxide slurry and then 45 micron glass bead slurry to try and clean off corrosion and brighten cast aluminium.. would you have the ideal air jet and nozzle size for your 3d printed or brass setup for sale to make the most of the 30cfm? I have the standard nozzles that came with the cabinet but am also willing to try a longer tapered nozzle for nice linear flow as I have lots of air cooled cylinders to try and brighten

Hi Brett,
To be honest with you, if you are only doing steel parts, there is probably not any advantage to a vapour blaster over a dry cabinet. Also, you need to run corrosion inhibitors in a vapour blaster for steel. That said, I recommend trying out one of those MH cabinets before buying one. They are little pathetic out of the box and take some work to get them to be more workable.

When choosing a submersible pump does it matter the flow rate and wattage? There’s lots of pumps on eBay and their flow rate varies drastically according to the specs.
Also, would you say plastic or stainless bodied pump is better? Cheers mate

I usually go a minimum of 450w and 7500lph. The difference between stainless and plastic is really just the shell. When you pull them apart they are practically the same inside.

Also how often do you change your water in your machine? Mine seems to get dirty from sitting in the open bucket

It depends on what I am doing with it. Sometimes I will drain out the water out after every job if its dirty. Sometime if I only do clean stuff, I will leave it for a couple of weeks
Without all the fancy several container filtering system I use a cheap water vaccum, and I vaccum the top of the water until it clears which indicates most of oil is gone, then I add fresh water, sometime doing this twice until water is clear
What media fine glass bead?
In this video I am using 250-150Micron glass beads.

Donyou use a slurry pump or just Syphon??
These use a slurry pump. I have tried setups that are siphon only but they seem much slower.

Having a small problem with my cabinet after following your e book along with your nozzle/gun design too.
Water is back feeding down to my pneumatic foot pedal and coming out the exhaust. I have a brass swing check in-line and it seems to be functioning fine but for whatever reason water is getting past it and down the line.
I can tweak this by adjusting the nozzle to tip distance but it’s still a problem.
Any ideas what this could be? I’m pulling my hair out
Hey Daniel,
Swap out your swing type for a plunger type. Something I have learned since writing the book is that the swing type can have media build up that stops them from closing properly. For some reason it is worse with the pneumatic pedals than the electric solenoids.
Also if you have a 3 port pedal, block up the exhaust. Since there is no ram to return, it doesn't need it.

The plunger check valve, do you mean just like a spring type with rubber seat? I’ll take a trip to the hydraulic shop tomorrow and see what they have.

@@Dsm152 Yes I noticed that too. it starts with a little media but once its in there, it will build up quickly.
Yeah the spring type. It's like a flat or domed spring loaded plunger with a seat. the seem to clear the seat of media better and retain a better seal.

Wouldn't it be better to go through the sandblasting process first?
In some cases yes. Particularly when there is heavy corrosion. I prefer not to dry blast if possible as it brings up the finish much faster.
