  • This is a quick video update on the status of the V3 Vapor Blast Gun kit production and the timelapse of our Ender 3 V2 printing the individual component files. Each part printed on the first try. I'm super impressed with the print quality and performance of this budget 3D printer.

3D printing is a real trip. The trouble with some of the 3D printed media blast gun designs that I researched which could cause failures were the removeable internal parts. I don't think it's possible to make the V3 blast gun out of one solid piece of machined alloy or cast but it can be done with a 3D printer because it prints in layers. So if you can recreate your thoughts into CAD software then it can be printed. They even have 3D printers that can make metal parts.

Hello David, Thank you for commenting and words of encouragement. I'm glad my work can provide you with growth opportunities. It so cool to take an ugly oxidized part and make it like new again efficiently through vapor blasting.
Best of luck with your endeavors!

Don't get bit by the Voron Bug Vic!! Man, I just ordered a Voron Trident kit, then pieced together a Voron 2.4 and a Switchwire(bed slinger) If you do explore that area, the Trident probably the best for high temp plastics..... as heat rises to the top. Should be great for ABS.

Hi UcantBeSerious03, Thank you for commenting regularly on new videos, I really appreciate it. I've already been looking at the Voron 2.4 cube type. I hadn't heard of the switchwire until your comment. Are you converting another machine or building it from scratch?

    • @UcantBeSerious03

@@vbared I'm building all 3 from scratch. The 2.4 seems to have all the hype. I guess it depends on what plastic your pushing. The 2.4 bed is on the floor and that chamber is pretty big when you need to preheat. The older 1.8 and revised Trident the bed up at the top, so when enclosed all the heat is at the top. I'm getting into ABS so the trident will be my abs goto printer. The 2.4 will be PETG printer and the switchwire I'm not sure. All I seem to do is print parts to mod printers. If I stop buying printers I won't have to print anything lol.

Modding the 3D printers is extremely satisfying to me also, so I get it. I just made a dual 4010 fan setup from scratch for the Ender 3 V2. The premade stuff I've been finding is either way to bulky, a work of art that's impossible to print or overly complicated for what's needed. The stock Ender 3 V2 fan assembly is very well thought out, looks great, and pushes good air for only being a single 4010. I would have kept it if not for me being hell bent on using dual parts cooling fans. It probably makes little difference but the mission of possibly improving it's performance, designing it so it can be printed without a million supports is appealing to me for some reason.

Hi Victor, I just found your channel and the links to the 3d print files and was curious if I were to purchase the files if the STL's can be modified so that they have hose barbs built into them if I were so inclined, rather than using hose threads? Thanks and I can't believe I have not found links to your channel sooner.

    • @vbared

Hello Robert, Thank you for commenting and kind words of encouragement. Originally I had designed the prototype with incorporated hose barbs but they were a point of weakness that could not have been worked around without either reducing to the size of the inner diameters or using a large diameter hose. Neither of those two options would have improved performance or usability. One thing that cannot be done using hose barbs is angle adjustment while blasting. If I'm blasting and need the gun turned more to one side or the other to reduce hand fatigue I can simply loosen the hose ends and twist the gun to whatever position is needed and retighten.
Best of luck with your build!

@@vbared I saw one of your later video's where you mentioned that and it does make sense. I appreciate the feedback. Will probably be purchasing your STL files once i get to my home PC (traveling with work right now). It seems like a solid investment for the ability to reprint nozzles as they were and the lifespan you discussed surprised me.

@@CraftwerksMC Hi Robert, Yes, the ability to just print all the parts is what made the idea of a 3D printed blast gun even more attractive to me. Just think of the savings when running multiple machines.
Many thanks for supporting my work.
      Safe travels

I have one follow up question and just curious about what Function the check valve does on the supply line going into the gun?

    • @vbared
      @vbared  2 роки тому

Hi Robert, Please excuse my delay in responding. The check valve stops the slurry from back feeding into your air supply line. In my setup the air is controlled by a foot valve so if the check valve was missing and you take your foot off the air valve then the slurry coming from the pump would make its way down the air supply line, into your foot air control valve. The check valve is installed about 5 inches inside of the blast cabinet on the air supply line so air can only flow to the gun but nothing can flow back.
I just created a hardware kit that includes 1 o-ring and 2 garden hose to barb adapters for the V3 Blast Gun, 2 grommets for the cabinet, 1 custom check valve, and 4 hose clamps. The hardware kits should arrive at Amazon during the next two weeks. If you want me to let you know when they are available for purchase just send me an email vbared@gmail.com and put "V3 Hardware Kit" in the subject line so I can spot it.

I purchased the 3D model today and print it out a version to test it I'm finding it hard to locate hose thread fittings in my shop do you have a version with national pipe thread fittings instead of garden hose? That would be awesome
