Thank you so much. I tried wire wrapping years ago, it bad, I gave it up. Recently I tried it again and love it. I have recently discovered your channel. I love your step by step instructions that are so easy to follow. I am sitting here making spirals happy as a clam making myself a necklace. Thank you
This makes me SO happy. One of the reasons I have my channel is to encourage people to take up the hobby and not give up. So thank you for sticking with it and I’m really pleased you’re enjoying it ♥️♥️
Great! Great! Great video👏🏻👏🏻 thank you sooooo much! This has stumped me forever watched other videos looks simple but when you’ve never done it NOT so much none of the other videos explained as they went through the steps. You’re my new hero friend and I love you! Awesome job you just got a new subscriber.
Ah this makes me so happy!!! I’m really pleased you liked the tutorial. It’s my aim to make slow and easy to follow tutorials for just this reason, so you’ve made me a happy lady today. Thank you! 🤩
I love this link‼️ hope you are well and getting closer to the end of your nightmare look forward to any and all tutorials that you have in your head Samantha. ♥️
you have the best tutorials on you tube so many others come laughing and talking about nothing but you get rite down to business please keep up the good work🥰
Thank you so much for the easy to follow tutorial. I had watched several others and could not get that "S" properly. I am now on my way and making all kinds for my Orgone projects. Much appreciated!
hi Samantha! thank you for the tutorial. I was so happy my first spiral turned out pretty good, even and flat. I made it with Benecreat 0.8 mm permanetly coloured wire. Copper I think. But then I messed it up when I hammered it.... perhaps because I don't have the proper tools, I used the rubber handle part of my cutters with mouse mat under. Oh well, for a first try I suppose its fine.
You’re so very welcome! 🙏 I’m thinking the issue could have been that I think the Benecreat wire can be on the softer side, so maybe your hammering was a little heavy for it? Just a thought. You can bash copper pretty heavily (which is good for the soul lol). As you progress, you can invest in a relatively inexpensive chasing hammer and block, which you’ll find much easier to use. I’m really happy you made your first spiral! Aren’t they fab!!? You’ll make so many from here on out and use them for all sorts of jewellery pieces 🌀 ❤️
You absolutely can! I’d suggest using a lighter gauge wire if you choose to, as 1) the heavier gauge wires tend not to fit through bead holes, and 2) a lighter gauge is less likely to damage or crack your bead as you’re creating your spirals 🥰
In the tutorial, I use aluminium wire. 1.2mm or 16g. For the copper wire spirals, I use dead soft in 1mm (18g) and 1.25mm (approx 16g). The principle is the same for any gauge wire, but the dead soft is easier to manipulate. Hope that helps ☺️
For some reason I can’t hold my wire properly with my round nose pliers. It always sort of pops out. Also the curve where i bend the wire around the pliers turns out to be much bigger than the pliers nose. I’m using Beadsmith pliers. Any suggestions? Your spirals are lovely!
I think it’s just a matter of practice. Try bending the wire around the pliers as tightly as you think you can. The wire will always want to “snap back” so if you do it tighter, when it does snap back a bit, you should find it’s the size you want it to be. And if the nose of the pliers is a bit sloppy and the wire pops out, try wrapping a little painters tape around the tips… that may afford a little more grip. Hope that helps 🥰
@@samanthalatimer1 Thank you so much! I will definitely try out the tape. Could it also be the wire itself? It’s stainless steel and apparently it’s pretty hard and therefore not so easy to bend
Can you help me with gauges? I am only familiar with gauges. I went to order some from Scientific and I am completly confused. They do offer a conversion sheet, bu still confused. The copper wire used on your video of wire wrapped beads with copper wire, what gauge of wire is used and how do I find it on their web site. Small quantities not commercial ? Can you help me?
Of course! I’ll try and help as much as I can. What can I help you with? Do you mean the tutorial with the 6mm beads where the wire is wrapped over the bead?
Ah ok I saw your other comment on that video. So if you look in the description box you’ll see I give you the gauge equivalents to the mm measurements of the wire you can use. You can use 20, 21, or 22 gauge wire for these links. You don’t have to purchase from scientific wire, but from any local craft store or large online retailers. And this way, you can purchase in much smaller amounts. Have a look at your local craft store. Are you US?
Ah Colleen! So lovely to hear from you. I’ve had a nightmare 6 months, but I’m almost at the end of a very stressful house move, so as soon as I get settled, I’ll be restarting my tutorials and bringing some bead work and other things. I have so many ideas. I hope you are very well 😊
Hi Samantha, can I ask a question? The wire I currently have is plated and tarnish resistant. I've only just learned that the tarnish resistance is due to some kind of polymer coating. I think this wire will be ok for wrapping but it doesn't look great after being worked with a hammer. I think hammering may damage the integrity of the wire. Do you have an opinion on this ?? Thanks.
Hi Susan. Although I’m no expert, I would say that you’re quite correct, in that, hammering coated wire is a no go, really. The coating gets damaged and it leaves the wire susceptible to tarnish. This leaves some parts untarnished and others tarnished, which doesn’t look good.
@samanthalatimer1 I got a few different gauges... maybe it was 18 and it's soooo floppy!!!! Thanks.. I'll try again. Got some sterling. By that I mean like 5 ft ... but it's half round and too thin :(
Thanks ❤
Oh thank you so much for your very kind support 🥰
Wow! I can't believe how well my first spiral came out! You're a really good teacher.
Ah that’s wonderful to hear! You’ll be making LOTS of them, I’m sure 😍

Thank you so much for sharing a beautiful technique

Very nice. Well taught as always. Will work-hardening (hammering) make them less likely to 'un-spiral' if caught on something?
Absolutely 💯 If you don’t want the flattened look, than hammering with a nylon hammer will keep the shape, whilst work hardening the spirals ☺️
Gracias por compartir conocimientos, explicas muy bien. Saludos desde Caracas, Venezuela.
Eres muy bienvenido. Estoy tan feliz de que hayas disfrutado el tutorial. Gracias
Itwas so relaxing to watch you,

Great video, excellent tutorial. Would it be possible to insert a smallish bead in the center of the spiral? Have you tried it? Just curious.

@@katlantic5576 oh absolutely! Stainless is a tough metal and it’s quite hard to work with. ☺️

Do you know what gauge aluminum this is??? Ive tried getting a few gauges but its so maleable 😅😅😅
If I remember correctly, I think I used 16g or 14g for the aluminium wire. It’s good for practice as it’s cheaper than copper etc ☺️
