  • CZ 457 LRP - 100 yards - SK Long Range Match - IBI Barrel
In this video I will test SK Longe Range Match 22 long rifle rimfire ammunition to see how well this highly regarded ammo performs in my CZ 457 LRP. I have installed an Olympic contoured barrel from IBI as well as a flat blade Timney CZ 457 precision Trigger.
this video is shot at 100 yards to test the ammo for repeatability and accuracy!
Hope you enjoy the testing and DON'T FORGET TO SUBSCRIBE! , COMMENT, AND LIKE! the video.
There will be new videos releasing every Sunday morning at 9 am!

Question: Since wind indeed will effect placement and size of grouping why not adjust the sight to counter it? After all, isn’t the idea with these .22 rifles to develop marksmanship? And isn’t marksmanship mostly about correctly countering for wind? As an NRA governed long range competition competitor I find that it’s the ability to counter wind correctly that separates winners from losers and since the .22 LR standard velocity cartridge has an MOA wind constant of 10 at 100 yards the wind adjustment formula for this cartridge at 100 yards is super simple and can be done from in the head math in a heartbeat, so why not just do it? The formula is yards divided by 100 times wind value in mph divided by constant of 10. So, let’s say you have a full value 10 mph wind then the formula looks like this: 100 yards divided by 100 equals 1 times 10 mph wind equals 10 divided by constant of 10 equals 1 MOA of favor. Pretty easy and for sure will ALWAYS improve grouping size and placement. The bottom line is use the .22 rimfire trainer to develop marksmanship including knowledge for what to do about the wind because having the wind disturb performance does not go well when the whole idea is to hit where aimed.

Yes I agree. Thanks so much for sharing this information it’s really appreciated and I will definitely start practicing this. But basically in this video I was just maintaining a constant aim point to see how the ammo performs. But yes 100 % on the idea of trying to read and adjust for wind to make the poa = poi but again thanks for this post. Cheers

Thanks for the heads-up on this ammo. As a result of watching this, I bought some. I am in the UK. I used my old1957 BRNO Mod 2 and at 100 yds on an ouside range, got consistent 1" groups. My friend, using a 1970s Anschutz 54 match target rifle got a 1/4" group. This is clas ammunition, especially for the price of £8.20p over here.

Just sighted in a new lot of eley match and it did 0.33moa at 97 meters 5 round group.
Was gonna shoot with the sk lrm, but the lot I had performed horribly, about 2moa 10 round groups. Usually that round has worked pretty consistant.

@@BROTUNED Yes, best 22lr group so far and performing lot as well. Not sure if im more impressed with the 97 meter group or that managed to shoot a 0.84moa 5 shot group off of a prs barricade at 200 meters. Sure sample size is small, but have to reserve ammo since only bought 3 boxes and the comp will require 2 boxes
Seems like I forgot in my original comment that have a competition coming and was gonna shoot the sk lrm at the comp.

Makes a Hella difference in my 3 rifles. In fact my Kidd Supergrade has tallied a few scary groups under .100 Scary because I've been using these same eyes for nearly 77 years. Lol Thought I might be missing the entire target but my step-son did it too.

Rifle would shoot a lot better if you got rid of that ridiculous rear rest you have to hug & continually adjust !! Get yourself a decent one , try a Protector 13A & you will see your groups come down to under a 1/4 inch. Also look at a Farley front rest. Rifle has everything going for it especially the IBI barrel. Also give Eley Match ammo a try, much better than SK.

    • @BROTUNED

It wasn’t bad but I have never tried an aftermarket barrel and this was my opportunity to be able to easily do it with no specialty tools and without breaking the bank. The factory barrel is great but the ibi is way better

    • @BROTUNED

Hi there Timothy! I’m not exactly sure what chamber is cut in the barrel. Maybe google can help find that out, but the twist is a regular 1:16 rht. I’m been tempted to test a 1:14 to see what it can do but that’s still on the table. Also I’d like to try a longer 24 or 26” barrel to see if that makes a difference

So why waste your time and ammo when conditions are not optional?? Information is of no use if the wind is moving the group? I just got back from the range and shot my CZ at 100 yards..10 shot groups. Eley match. Averaging .6". This was under good wind conditions (daisy wheel wind flags) when the wind started to move the flags and my group started opening up? I quit! No sense wasting good ammo unless....you are practicing shooting for score in the wind and are holding off.
I see too many you tube videos with people shooting/testing under windy conditions and then, without some decent wind flags. It looks like you shoot from behind your house so you should be able to pick and choose when you test😮

    • @BROTUNED
      @BROTUNED  Рік тому

Yes this is true but I try to do it in the best conditions possible but I also work 48 hours a week and can’t always shoot when it’s calm. I wish I could but at best I can shoot in perfect conditions maybe 1 day a month. But I hear you loud and clear Richard. On your .6” at 100 yards that’s a great group I have been there before and I was completely impressed that a rimfire rifle could do that. Even though the price is basically equivalent to shooting 223/556 if not more ha ha. Most of the time the only time it’s calm is super early morning before the sun comes up or after the sun goes down and in Canada it’s illegal to shoot at these times of the day. It’s just what I have to deal with. I find at 50 yards the wind doesn’t really make much of a difference but at 100 there is a shift for sure. Anyway thanks for commenting your concerns about the wind and I’ll definitely try to do my best to shoot these ammo tests in low wind situations. Cheers sir!
