I don't know if you wore the Hoyt shirt for effect, but it made me chuckle to see the "Get serious, get Hoyt" tag line while you were setting up your Bowtech bow🤣Great content, love the features that Bowtech put into the Reckoning.
I f’n love these videos! I wish I had a pro shop around here that could help get a bow setup PROPERLY, but I don’t. So these definitely help a guy like me know what to look for when dialing in right out of the gate.
Learning so much watching you set up a bow. You make it look so simple and straight forward. Can't wait for the follow up. Thanks for taking the time to put these videos together!!
Thank you Josh for the great informational video Always learn something and great to see someone sharing all this knowledge God's Blessings on all your adventures
MFJJ, this is a general thanks! Im a new shooter and following your channel ive learned so much. My shooting is greatly improving and my bow repair & setup skills as welll. Have a great weekend! From NY!
I am trying to learn all I can on how to work and set up my own bows . When you started the first thing you did was set your nocking points with a square, how did you know exactly where to put them without your rest being on the bow ? Did you just line up with the burger holes on the bow? I really appreciate all the content on the how to’s
Always enjoy all your videos and learn so much.. Just wondering if you know of a way to sharpen the innerloc or muzzy replacement broadhead blades? I have been looking for a long time with no luck finding a system that will sharpen them. Your help would be appreciated.
I need to see a video on wheeling. My brain cant make sense of putting the laser at the middle of the cam. If the laser is 1/8" off the bottom cam wouldnt you want it an 1/8" off the top so its running square and parallel to each other?
Thank you for the info. I’m having the hardest time getting my bottom cam to line up. The top of the bottom cam is leaning WAY away from the riser (top left). I swapped the shims to have the cam move to the right. I’m now questioning if I moved the right direction as the lean seems the same or maybe even worse. Let me know something before I mess something up please. Thank you!
Already ordered now gotta sell my new uv button don't really care for it anyway been using my carter til I find something else but this is gonna be awesome
Love this full build and setup!!! Loads of good stuff.... Question - what is the rail and threaded rod on your DIY draw draw board called (the u--shaped channel)???
always so much advice! idk if you have addressed it in a video before, but is there too fast of a speed for mechanicals? my bow is tuned up pretty well and fieldtips group well. im shooting 305fps right now at 30in draw
About to get my Reckoning Gen2 36 set up as well, so THANK YOU for this video! Question: What / how much of a difference do these aftermarket cables and string make? Are the Bowtech ones bad or lacking in some regard?
The ends on bowtech limbs with the deadlock cams taper in, then flare out where the cam brackets bolt onto the limb. This makes a slight hourglass shape that he tied the cord into the middle of.
So 2 part question. 1 did you go with the med cam because of speed efficiency? 2 I currently shoot a PSE Shootdown Pro at 30.5 with the letoff at 85%. Would that be too much to lengthen the string?
If you just added twists to the cables without making an adjustment to the string would your draw still have changed, or do you have to manipulate both the cables and string? My partner has a short draw and her current bow max is 56 lbs, the bow she had prior was just over 60. We wish we could get more pounds out of the new bow. If there was twists added to the cables the poundage would go up but would we also have to manipulate the string to prevent the draw length from changing?
Not sure of your bow brand. If I put one full twist into both cables I gained just about 1.5lbs. You should have to add one twist to the string for each twist in the cables. Just do one twist at a time and see how the bow reacts. These results are from a V3X-29
When shortening the cables and lengthen the string do the cam timing marks, if they are present, stay the same as factory or will they be in a different location? I read a discussion about colored string loop material of specific colors that will not hold well on the serving. Any thoughts on that? Black held better and pink was not holding well at all.
Timing is rarely in sync even from the factory. So much changes, draw length, pulling points poundage, d loop length and location onthe string. Timing always has to be checked and verified on any change you make.
Im not sure why Hamskea even sells the football rest cord dodad. The ez glide is the best and should be included with every rest they sell. I bought a bunch for the shop cause I don't trust the football clamp
Hold up, you put the laser on the side of the track and then induced lean? I would have thought default is to start with both running in a straight line?
It was interesting that you did not measure A to A and brace after replacing the strings. I always like to see where I am at with regard to factory spec after replacing strings. My guess is you did not measure since you were purposely taking it out of spec to add some draw length? Hard to argue with the Deadlock Cam system on Bowtech, when that patent expires I am sure others will implement that ASAP. Thank you!
Yeah, gaining that ½ draw length would make factory specs out a bit. Doing what he did changed AtoA, brace, increased draw weight, and changed holding weight percentage at the same cam setting.
@@the_sharp_carpenter For sure. All of that is OK, I was just expecting MFJJ to show us that and talk a bit more about it. I wonder if Bowtech would warranty that bow to an individual like you or me if we took it out of spec? I bet not.
@@huntsimple9527 twisting cables and strings has been common for tuning since compound bows have been around. Some people intentionally take the cams out of time (top or bottom hitting ahead of the other) to gain small amounts of forgiveness for target setups. This just changes the timing and rollover point to gain draw length, shouldn't be an issue. I'd actually be interested to see how much length could be gained just maxing out the timelock adjustment.
Paige says that she makes her target bows aim the best that she can. Do you spend time doing similar stuff to your target bows to make them aim the best you can? If so would pass some of that goodness to us great follower's?
You know so much, and I appreciate your videos, but the camera guy never catches exactly what you're doing. Barely showed Dloop. It would be nice if it was up and close so we can learn how to do things.
Im really just not a fan of them new lca bow vises seems like a lot lf wobble amd play in them i like my opm morco adjust just seems like a much mkre stable and accurate system 🤷 other than that mr jj keep the content coming (maybe clean up that work area tho my ocd for mess and organizing was going insane 😅)
Great info. Thank you. BUT ... your Camera Man needs to 1) Focus the camera, and 2) focus on what your doing. ie) show the bow rest, tying your intial peep loop. NOT you.
MFJJ - confusing! please explain in detail cam alignment. Or do an in-depth explanation of laser alignment. ua-cam.com/video/r27ISgyr-7o/v-deo.html in that vid you aligned them at brace. And in this vid your aligning them at full draw. One way or the other it throws the cams off. Which way is correct?!?! It can’t be both!
Your videos are fire 🔥 by the end of them I not even pooping I just sitting on the toilet keep them coming

You know Bowtech and GAS are cringing when MFJJ says, “ Just change the factory settings.” Love the content brother.
Does it come with them from the factory or something
Imagine how Hamskey felt when he broke the top plate of his rest
@@thenameiwantedwastaken 😂
@joshuaborowy2078 gas strings are going to be an added cost. Not a bowtech factor string
Thank you for the detailed explanation of how you set the cam lean to start your tune. Great video
It's cool how you just grab top dollar accessories off the shelf and don't even blink🤯 Great looking bow! Looking forward to your next video.
He's making so much money just from online sales alone
Thank you Josh for the great informational video

Great info on setting up a bow! Have learned a lot watching your videos.
Slow is smooth, smooth is fast. Ha, you looked a little rushed! You definitely make setting up a bow look easy! Can't wait to see the rest.
Awesome video, I'm just learning to tune my own bows and learned a few new tricks here!
I'll be looking for you in Big Sky to say "Hi"!
Watching a guru like MFJJ set up bows is awesome.

Thanks a bunch for all the info MFJJ!!!
Definitely like getting a different perspective on how you go about setting up bows!
Great content and information as usual. Look forward to seeing it shoot.
It’s good to know even the best has issues putting things together I’m glad it’s not just me😂
Always great to see your vids you have taught me a lot
Learn a lot watching mfjj keep up the videos hope to see how you shot at Redding archery shoot
Awesome content! Keep them coming!
More in close camera of bow perhaps second or third fixed for details .
Love these bow builds!
Enjoying the content , Keep it up !

Looking for the same just to fine tune the edge the right way

Same result. He just uses center of cam as reference.
I was thinking the same...the offset of the laser has to be zero
Hope to see you guys there! I'm shooting Sunday

Badass bow
Paper tune after putting the stabilizers on and see if there is a difference. Nice video and nice bow
Stabilizers can make a huge difference. Adding a front bar can change your left to right tune.
@@bmook019 would you tune with them on or off

Pretty impressed with Dans 48 yrd turkey shot. What does your scope image look like? What made you choose that size and configuration. Thanks.

Camera dude needs to discover the zoom button for this video.
Slooowwwwwwwwww down buddy.
I would like to see a product review on the new g5 mark arrows.
I didn't think you would of been a flashy color guy. Doesn't matter for foam thou.
Josh have you ever used a prusik knot instead of the football style clamp for the rest chord? Pros cons to both?
Wish we got a tight shot on the limb driven rest cable position. Maybe drop it as a short?

Hell ya mfjj! Hopefully that set up works great for u!
How about directions on how you built your draw board that would be cool
When you were paper tuning the bow do you recommend doing close like you did, or should it be done with the paper at 20 yards?
Would you throw in a video on shooting in your rail like you mentioned at the end?
When shortening the cables and lengthen the string do the cam timing marks, if they are present, stay the same as factory or will they be in a different location?

Why did you settle on 60lbs not 70lbs for the Reckoning.
Can u make a vid on shooting at a level line for the rail for 1st axis
Why don't you use a prusik knot instead of the clamp on the rest cord?
I looked through your videos, and I never saw a follow up to this one. Did I miss something?
