- This video is about upgrading my old slow Eonon head unit to AVIN USA's brand new Avant 4 radio running android Oreo. This is radio is a huge upgrade from my original android head unit as far as performance and even aesthetics. I will be coming out with a REVIEW for this radio so stay tuned and subscribe. It has the base steerimg wheel and I'll like to know if I can upgrade the steering wheel too such that i couls answer calls from directly from it. I think the previous owner got this from canada

Hey brother I know this video says it was 3 yrs ago so I was just wanting to know how this stereo worked out for you? I have one in mine that looks like the one you took out and the touch screen quit workin in no time and it still works cause its bluetoothed to my phone but I'm gonna be upgrading phones soon and it won't be anymore so I have got to get a new stereo regardless. Plz let me know how your new one worked for you cause I would like to get one like that one if its good. I appreciate any advice you can give on it. Thank you

In my experience I've found built in mic's to be garbage but it would be interesting to see a comparison or does it use both mic's simultaneously... or is that mic plug for the camera.. The documentation is vague

Great vid! Bought the unit based on your review! One issue I have run into is hearing a constant static/white noise while the volume is up. For example if I pause a song while the volume is up I will hear this static/white noise. I followed yours install everything was fairly strait forward I don't think I screwed anything up. Any tips? I'm hoping it is can be solved in the EQ settings. Something to note is I have the usb adapter plugged into the unit but I have nothing plugged into it yet, waiting for my car play dongle to arrive. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

The Eonon's GA9150B specs is about the same as that one (except it has a CD/DVD player), it also has no startup logo and boots up in a second (android 8, Oreo). The only problem I had was fitting the radio in, maybe the radio is too big, or it might be since my E46's model is the previous version of yours, and had to route the harness from the trunk (where the old nav system was) to the front, so the front space seems to be way less than your E46's version because of the plastic air tubes placement (? not sure what that plastic structure is tbh) on the back of that tight fitting, dunno... Is there any way to make more space for the radio?

@@logand8811I don't remember about the connections (the site didn't had much instructions about it so I had to figure out by myself) but I routed it starting from the rear seat, through the right side (some usualy go for the left side under the driver's wheel cover, but I found that removing the glove box would be easier for that job), removing the left side cushion is easy, you just need to pull it hard, pass the cable BEHIND the seat belt, and if you want you can also pass it under the seat itself (you can also pull it hard to release it a bit), then pass it under the rear inner skirt side cover (also by pulling but those have 4 pins that you need to align with the holes to plug the skirt back in afterwards), then just tuck the cable under the B pillar cover (you don't need to remove it, just tuck it in, and remember, always BEHIND the seat belt, not on top of it), then under the front inner skirt side cover (same as the rear one), up to the glove box (you'll need to unscrew it and remove it first) and tuck it behind it under the fusebox wires, and finaly you can pass the harness into the central console gaps from behind the glove box, where your radio will fit.
How exactly does the ibus plug into the harness, im assuming into the little grouping of cables into the tiny clip with 3 wires going into it but what wires go to what wires? Thank you
So the three wires connect to 12v, ground, ibus which comes off the factory harness. Or the Avin radios come with the connector for the ibus

I've been scouring the OfferUp, LetGo, etc, sites ever since I saw the Eonon install looking for a good deal; to no avail. I have a 2002 325i I am trying to modernize on a budget. It plugs right it’s the harness then just plug in the usb

Two questions for you. When you use the apple car play adapter? does the voice recognition work through the radio or the mic you plugged into avin radio? I'm just hoping it will work through mic plugged into radio by steering wheel....also does your iphone hotspot auto-connect to the avin 4....mine doesn't seem too....think i need to adjust some setting....thanks
Yes voice commands work through the the mic. Yes it works with the steering wheel button. Also the hotspot will work
@@EvanGoyuk does the radio autoconnect to wifi though when you get in car if the hotspot is on in the phone?
talking just android wise by this...obviously with carplay usb it would just connect through usb connection i assume....

You just plug into the USB port

Hey Evan, could you give some detail on how you ran the USB plugs to the glovebox? That's the last thing left on my install and I'm scratching my head how to get them in there.
I end up running them to the center console. But you can run them to your glovebox. You need to remove the glovebox and snake it through. It’s kinda of a pain.

I can try but to be honest it’s very hard to take pictures of it. Not a lot of space. You kinda have to feel around
I put them between fuse box and glove box, remove 3 top screws so that gives You a little bit of space to push them in. I've started from center console towards glove box.

Thanks for the Avant4 install. My Avant 4 did not come with the i-bus app installed, so I download it, not sure if I did it right when I open it and press unlock I am getting "Your Vehicle is not unlock, no connection to the interface". Any idea why? no sound
So you need to have the vin unlocked double check that they unlocked the vin and is the interface hooked up correctly
@@EvanGoyuk. How do you unlock the Vin? I did provide my vin # and we all should have gotten the license, that should unlock the vin. I think.

Behind the radio you need to splice in to the positive cable for 12v power, then the negative cable. Lastly the k-bus wire for the information to be read in

Oh and BTW I have 2005 318i base model and I'm trying to make it modern because boy it's like the base of the base models right from the steering wheel to well basically every other thing. I like my interiors modern. And I actually love the page. I'm new to bmws. The 2005 318i is actually my first car. I dunno if can comfortably call it an e46 😅

Yes and yes

Anton Shishkov It is fairly straightforward, I just started to take the oem stuff out and plug in the cable. Routing it is tricky I kind of half assed it the first time and never went back to redo it. You can route it through the back seats then beside the passenger seat then up the glove box. I think you can put the cable through the side trim piece beside the passenger seat but I gave up on getting it off.

it's a difference between eonon and avin in audio performance? it sounds better than eonon? i m going to buy a headunit but this is the most important aspect to me, the sound quality.
The sounds quality is about the same. However the Avin is overall a better headunit. Limiting factory is the HK speakers kinda suck. I have new speakers going in very soon be sure to stay tuned for the video!!

Yes I have the wireless adapter, however I like using the cable it’s more stable.

So I was told if I change my radio. My steering wheel buttons wont work anymore.
False make sure the radio you get comes with a canbus decoder
Do you have the Harman/Kardon package, if so does the speakers in the rear still work?
Yes I have he HK package and yes the rear speakers work. The speakers sound better than stock

I have heard different stories, like you have to cut into some wires
Yes it is 100% plug and play. No need to cut any wires
I have the HK setup as well but needed to order the extension harness to plug into the amp in the trunk. You can check on eonon site for how to tell. By just pulling out your radio.

You relocate them down to where the sunglass holder is
I have a xtrons 9inch stereo in my e46 and i definately recommend it over this stereo
It has all the same features just a larger screen
•• that headunit does not look OEM however. Many people, including myself, hate the way aftermarket head units look giving the avant it’s purpose: to give modern features with an OEM look.
SimpleChem i understand, however its all personal preference, i like the look of the 9”, i think it looks more modern

How are you liking this unit now that you’ve had a little bit more time with it, any gripes or complaints?
So far it’s great only down fall is when your turning the volume up from the steering wheel while the controls are up on the display you can not change the channel. Until the disappear on the screen. I will put that in my review I know it’s hard to understand
Evan Goyuk- hey Evan , I need a bit of help . Do you Have/use Pa Soft BmwScanner 1.4 ? I recently bought one off amazon an I can’t get it to work , wondering if you have one an it Actually works , you might be able to suggest where to find a Working model , I have same Car 02 330ci an Scanner reads no modules , also tried on 3 pc’s an another 325ci , still won’t work Error ike Error Ews . Pin 7+8 bridged with no results , pa soft won’t identify car . Not sure what the issue is , any help appreciated 🙏🏼
Pins 7 and 8 only need to be bridged for an inpa cable not pa soft cable. Also make sure the cable is and scanner is plugged into the computer before launching the application
Evan Goyuk - ok , the Scanner did come with 7+8 already bridged , still no results . Contacted seller on amazon - for an exchange . Gonna try again an will update with results . Tried on multiple PCs an cars , I have a feeling unit might have issues . Will update when Solved

And also I need a new plastic trim to relocate my hvac system right but I don’t see on there website for one if u can answer my question much appreciated dude I like the videos you been posting
