    It's just perfect, for our 2nd great depression. I love it! They can make these quiet, and cleaner, but in California they want to ban small gas engines altogether. We could ride this to the bread line, when the electric goes down, but Newsome won't allow it.

      Yes, exactly why I bought mine. When we can no longer afford gas to drive our cars, and the electric ones no longer work; we can still get around a little bit with some motor power - at least for a while. Of course you still have the thief problem, which will get worse with the engineered depression and food shortages.

    Could this build be jack shafted in your state? Using the derailer for transfer of power there would be no need to worry about how many teeth you had on the rear end. Not just a speed issue but wouldn’t being jack shafted help for when the bike really needed the extra power off-road?

  • @adam_-adam

    do you know if the clearance between the top of the cylinder to the bottom of the gas tank more than the skinny tire version, i was wanting to put a 100cc from a jumping jack compactor or a 120 cc, but i think the skinny wheeled phat moto only has half inch clearence which might not be enough for that little bit bigger of a engine.

    • @tomtee4442
      @tomtee4442 2 роки тому

      I have what I call the regular tire Phatmoto less space between valve cover and bottom of frame. I want to go maybe with a 212cc or 110 - 125cc ATV engine with 4 speed would definitely do the job putting around off road for me with gears makes all the difference.

The only thing that concerns me about these is that all the reviews I see oh, a lot of people complain about the condition they receive them in. So finding someone who will ship it to you in good condition is a concern

    • @chessgaming9942

      I’ve recently gotten one and 3 of my friends have them too, they generally ship pretty well. Only issues with the bikes are either the spokes on the wheels (easy enough to replace them) or the transmission, which can take a bit of work, but a CVT works great with them.

    How loud is it? They should add a kick start, stronger chains/belt, fenders, and exhaust pipe. Comparing this with Bolton ebikes foxbat it seems good because it's cheaper, but you can also get a cheap motorcycle like the CSC SG250 for less than $3000 shipped. Italika also has some really nice cheap motorcycles, but importing/registering them might be a nightmare (eg: SPTFIRE200)
    Seems like people with credit cards and no common sense drive up the prices of these things, I would think all ebikes/gasbikes should be under $1000

      @@dmoore0079 I agree with with the comment above basically. I'm glad I went with the 80cc engine enough power to go up any hill on hard top and pedaling too. I've went up the steepest hill around on my phatmoto. Recently tried to go up very steep hill going to slow and couldn't. I was not use to that area or would of went faster, couldn't make it up the hill. So I went back down hill and went wide open pedaling then made it with ease up hill. I've also taken the Phatmoto up some of the steepest hills around. But disadvantage phatmoto won't off road like a ATV that has gears and just putting around.

    Frmr 4x Buell owner, so I love the gas in frame. Always wanted to build an add on conversion- they just made it better. Well done- Def getting one- 3yrs out of country in South America- back to TX and for biz around San Antonio- perfect. **But please, man- I know you only think it's a bike and even so, put on some shoes! Have any idea of what your toes would look like at 25mph across blacktop? Sigh, why do I care? *A.**

      It isn't street legal in most places because it exceeds the 49/50cc motor restrictions. Instead of asking UA-cam, you should be asking your local DMV or check your state laws pertaining to motorized bicycles.

    • @tomtee4442
      @tomtee4442 2 роки тому +2

      True but every thing is illegal even a pedal bike going to fast is illegal and can be given a ticket. I have a Phatmoto I always keep pedals turning, courteous, I wave and move off side walks for pedestrians coming. Don't want anyone to call the law for riding a motorized bicycle. I ride on trails, side walks away from traffic as much as possible, no riding or playing in traffic for me. I got my phatmoto at the beginning of January 2019 when they first came out. Also I put 49cc stickers on it. No police except one stopped me in another state he heard the engine on and I cut engine off when I saw the law. officer said I can have a bike with a engine. but not on and engine running in that state unless I wanted to register the bicycle. I was nice to the officer acted like I didn't know the law and rode on after his advice. A few blocks later tired from pedaling cut the engine back on and cruised but riding slow is the key! Just use common sense riding you will be ok. I was thinking about buying a electric bike glad I didn't when battery needs replacing battery is pretty expensive and will only last so long. 4stroke motorized bikes for the money will last longer, over all cheaper to repair - maintance cheaper in the long run and hold more value and will resale better than electric bikes!

      @@tomtee4442 The bikes acting in an illegal manner are the douchebags that make all bikes look like douchebags. The same can be said with motorized bikes. It only takes one to ruin it for everyone. Where I live, the cops give us a common courtesy as long as we obey the traffic laws and aren't acting like obnoxious douchebags. The one that ruins it for us will blame everyone but himself.

    I can't seem to find an oil change interval for this....

    • @UnoShots
      @UnoShots 3 роки тому

      Every 3 months even if you haven't ridden it, oil is a desiccant which means it attracts moisture so even if it's sitting its still accumulating moisture, which is bad for the internals

    • @tomtee4442
      @tomtee4442 2 роки тому

      As a rule of thumb for me on gasoline engines and to last longer change oil when it gets dark. It's less than one quart. Four stroke engines will usually last a lifetime if you take care of them. I also have a small camping portable generator I bought New in 1995 still running strong!

    • @tomtee4442
      @tomtee4442 2 роки тому

      Also on a technical note if a gasoline engine in anything is running poorly from running rich or lack of spark. Tune ups need to be done way more often until engine is running good and clean again. A poorly running gasoline engine will let gasoline pass by the rings and into the oil and also affecting spark plug life this a poorly running engine causes more wear and fuel mileage

    • @rudyglez513
      @rudyglez513 3 роки тому

      You got to deflate the tires and use a brush with soapy water all around the rim and inflate back up quick with that particular wheel on the air to help it snap into place correctly, that'll make it seat true and feel a lot smoother at speed.

  • @dobrodoc
    @dobrodoc 3 роки тому +1

    Did you notice the label on the air filter for choke on/ off is reversed? I had trouble starting it, and I couldn’t get any power cause it was running with choke on! Found someone on a forum who discovered his was reversed. Also my throttle slips and decelerates abruptly so I have to use my left hand on the carb to keep accelerating. Finally, the bead on the tire is totally messed up and I can’t get it seated correctly. So far it’s been a big expensive frustration. Your videos are helpful though.
