Pete B. is right about changing both. I changed the right rear about 6 months ago, now I'm crawling under the truck to change the left rear.
Thanks for the great video. 30 minutes of labor and the problem was fixed! I found it easier to remove the 8mm bolt and the sensor before disconnecting it from the plug (and likewise connecting the replacement before bolting it in). It strikes me that it's easier separating the sensor from the plug when it's in a less restrictive space and when one can get a grip on the two parts to be separated. Also, the red tab on the left-rear wheel was hidden from view until I removed the bolt and the sensor connected to the wiring.
Man thanks a lot, today I started my truck and I saw all those lights on, I really freaked out, well it turned out my dog had bitten cut one of the cable. So thanks to you I knew that the cable was the problem, I put them back together and I started the engine, and the lights were gone. Thanks a lot mate, greets from Chile!
Mine didn’t reset with the start of the engine, I drove it for about a mile then the lights disappeared. Thanks for the help and saving me a ton of cash!
👍
It has to relearn. I have changed mine several times. 2011 116,000 MI. The last time I changed the front ones. It was cheaper to get the bearing assembly w/sensor than just by a sensor. I also found out when my back up sensor light came on,.That I could clean them with wd40. Went right back to working. I thought this might work on my speed sensors. So I cleaned them up.and right back to working. It don't mean it will be that way every time I guess, But so far so good.
The brakes on the front ha e locked up.twice because of them. I.had to replace everything in less than 10,000 MI. It would not go.into economy 4 cylinder. You don't really notice it at first. Then you smell it. I pulled over and it locked.up.tight. The wheels were smoking hot. Another problem is there is no cabin filter in it. You can get.a kit for it.simple to install. The outside pollutants clogged.up.my evaporator tomorrow part of the dash.will have to come out to change it. I'm gonna rebuild the blower box while I have it out. The cabin filters are very important. Find out it your vehicle has one and change it.
Also you.can use the re-cycle button on the a/c. That will stop most pollutants. Not make the same mistake I did, Its very costly. and time consuming. GOD BLESS
Thanks million, your video still useful after 5 years, I’m changing my 2014 1500 ram on the other side of the world…. Much appreciated bro
Had a 2012 Ram 1500 go through the shop this past week with the same issue. I ordered the 2 sensors for the rear wheels. Took the old ones out to find they were completely covered in dried mud/dust. I used shop air to blow out the area where the sensor sits, and a ton of dust and dirt came out. I installed the new sensors and lifted the vehicle a couple feet off the ground and put it in drive. The lights disappeared around 10 MPH and did NOT return. Another confirmed fix! Thanks for the tip, as the vehicle threw no codes concerning the abs light and the traction control light.
Awesome 👍
Pete thank you for sharing your knowledge for free. Everything is Bigger in Texas!
Fk Texas, it's BIGGEST in Alaska!
Man I wish I could buy you a beer. I went to the dealership for this EXACT issue, ABS error message started coming on randomly and then eventually it comes on and stays on every time I move the truck. They plugged their little doo-dad into the dash and said "It's an internal error, we need to replace the whole abs module. We can do it next month and it'll cost $1900." I laughed in their faces. I found this video after 15 minutes of looking online, I'm picking up $20 worth of sensors from the parts store tomorrow. If this works I'm a good mind to go back to that dealership and take them to task for being scam artists.
Did this fix it?
@@etchediniron4249 yep
@@MagiRaz I just called the dealership and can’t get a module until 2/2023. 😐
@hybredmoon same issue. Dealer said "ABS sensor . . . Blah blah . . Not available till . . . Blah blah . . . $1200."
Question: 2012 2500 Cummins
Speed sensors are not plugged at the wheel but a long wire from the sensor. Was there a chance made bt FC during 2012 year?
How much did they charge for diagnostic? I’m having the same issue plus service the knob thing lol . I’m stuck in park also 😤
Mine came on 2 days ago, I put a code reader on it and it wasn’t throwing any codes either. So glad you shared this! Thanks!
👍
Just swapped them both out and lights still on. Maybe I should drive a bit? I’ll keep you updated.
Don Cottle whatever happened??
This is the reply I was looking for. Same problem here, no codes! I'll be looking for these sensors today. Thanks!
I'm having the same problem. Thank you very much. I think you were the same guy I watched on the back up assist sensors. From what remember, I cleaned the sensors with WD-40 and all went back to working. Dealer said they would all have to be changed. Save me alot thanks.
Thank you so much. This solved my problem. Saved me a bundle and was an easy fix. I would never have thought to look there.
I ran over a huge puddle on the passenger side of the road on the way to work this morning 🌄. Both lights immediately came on so I am going to try this and see what happens. Thank you for sharing 😊
Did it fix the problem?
Congrats Pete, you showed your cameraman performance in a very difficult shot area, a goo job done :)
Thank you
@@petebeasttexashomesteading excellent
Many thanks for your video.
ABS, service 4 wheel drive, stability control dash lights on. No cruise control. And last but not least, the backup sensors disabled. All because the left rear wheel speed sensor failed.
👍
@silent night it cleared on its own when I started to drive.
@silent night Everything cleared when I started the truck.
BET!!!! I also have a 4th generation Ram and my ABS, Traction and BRAKE lights are on. Mine started intermittently too and now they're just on.
My 2012 done the same thing today and the parts store only had one. I decided to replace the right side and of course it was the left that was bad. Still a quick fix! Thanks so much for your video!!
👍
Just replaced the rear sensors on my 2011 ram 1500 lonestar hemi pickup after having this same problem. Thanks for this video!
Great video! This solution solved my intermittent ABS and TC issue on my 2013 RAM 1500 Laramie. It took me less than an hour with seized up ABS sensors. Thank you!
I have a 2013 Ram as well .. If you dont mind me asking, where did you buy your sensor? Part number? From what Im seeing the part # changed after 2012 model.
@@SouthernSwag731 I went into AutoZone to buy the part. I just told them the year and make and they ordered the part, next day delivery. I do not have the part number for you, sorry.
Thanks, mine just came on for no reason today. Glad to see it's an easy enough fix. 👊👍
Thank you for sharing this info...the lights just came on driving home from work. Appreciate it
👍
Thanks.... my wife was driving my truck for about 2 months, when I jumped in 1 day and saw it. I will be ordering the part to replace next week 👍🏽👍🏽🙏🏾
👍
Big thank you. Just fixed mine today for $25. Got a scanner from an auto parts store and it read the code.
Awesome 👍
My Diablo scanner would not pick up the fault code. The scanner at the auto parts store would not pick up default code to either. Rumor has it you have to take it to the dealer to pick up the ABS fault codes.
Why don't you drive it around for a couple days to make sure the light stays off.
@@michaelpalmer584 How did you solve the error?
Your video just saved me 270 bucks thank you so much I’m subscribing I will be watching all your videos
Awesome, thank you 👍
Awesome! I have a 2013 Chevy Silverado. It sounds like it could be a similar situation. If not, this was a great video to watch. Cheers
I had a 2000 silverado with the same issue. Not sure if it's the same as the 2013 but what happens is the solder joint cracks inside the ABS control module. That could also be your problem and there are several videos on it. Good luck.
Thanks , your video saved the day and the money. God bless.
Thankyou so much, took 15 minutes lights out.
Your very articulate!!
Thank you 👍
Thanks for clearly showing the details as you did the work!
You sir just saved me a ton and relieved a ton of frustration.
Awesome 👍
Hey, how did you know it was in the rear tires?
I have a 2014 longhorn and I am hearing a slight chattering noise on my left front tire. I have the same ABS alarms on my dash. This happened about a few days after getting new tires mounted.
Thanks for everything!
Not sure if that’s what’s wrong with mine but I love the explanation on the video. Wish me luc🤞🏽
My 3500 start this morning whit the same light on.. thanks for the video. 👍👍👍👍👍
👍
Anti skid warning came also on volvo dash...tthanks to pput themboth in title.now. Both gone after abs wheelsensor...replacementt. Thxx
👍
Great video, thanks for your sharing. Keep up your good work
I won't be paying Dodge $150 to "find the problem" now. Thank you.
Awesome glad it helped.
Is the abs & traction control module in the same place on a 2017 3500 cab an chase dually
@@petebeasttexashomesteading is this the same for a 2018 ram 3500? Same issue. Great video.
Thank you you just save me quite a bit of money God bless you sir
Awesome 👍
I took my car to a mechanic and after they worked on the wheels ABC and Tcs off are showing on the dashboard. I will go back to them to correct that. Thanks so much
Thanks you Sir you saved me a bunch of money... I had the same issue I went and bought the parts at Auto Zone and put them in and Boooom problem solved....
Awesome 👍
i had a check engine light and the traction control light on in 2015 ram 2500. i cleared the code out on my dash and the truck drove normal, no transmission skips or speed issues. while i was parked i found on my drivers side floor mat a plastic tube and a metal spring. this turned out to be the brake light sensor or the the brake pedal. i managed to get the tube and spring back inside. i cleared the code again and the truck drove like it normally would. so i am waiting on the replacement part to see if that was the issue
My Chrysler town and country started doing this I need to see about these sensors. Thanks
I've been putting off doing this :
However with this great tutorial :
I'm going to get er done *
Have been having this issue all day and been looking for solutions bc mine is now going on and off from being steady on and the brakes are flickering ...... so hope it works
Was that the issue ? I’m having the same problem with my brakes flickering as well
Before you change the sensor you should take the wheel off and check the gear the sensor reads from some times the gets covered in brake pad debris and makes the sensor think the wheel is spinning really fast because it looks like solid metal no breaks.
Thanks much Pete. Replaced both sensors on my 2012 Ram. One came off as you show but the other one was stuck despite my many threats and foul language. So I removed the bolt and pulled out the whole affair. If you look at the sensor end with the bolt hole on the right and there are two rails attached to the sensor. Similar to pistol rails. Use a pair of needle nose pliers, grab one of the rails and pull out the sensor.
👍
Thanks buddy. Im doing mine this weekend
Wow you did it very good video save money thanks Peter
Great, thanks for the info, I will try it this weekend
Replaced mine thanks to your video, thank you sir
Awesome 👍
Great explanation, I’m having this issue, but I’m a girl and know nothing about cars, no way I’d mess with break cables 😒 I already hate the price dealership will quote me
It may not sound like fun but learning some basic skills of repair will make you feel good about yourself, add years to your life, and earn the respect of the man / partner who is right for you.
@ I went to the dealership and paid like 2k for that from what I recall. Maybe I’ll learn another time, not the easiest.
Replaced both. Light still coming on. Looking for solutions now… 2013 ram 4.7 1500 st
My 2010 Ram 4.7 when in 4wd LOW , the ESP and BAS come on , don't of it's normal...I know that in Low Range certain assistance goes off
Hey Pete, how did you figure it was the rear rather than the front?
Awesome, was VERY easy to do and fixed my issue! Thanks!
Awesome 👍
@@petebeasttexashomesteading I have this issue with my truck right now, except I am also limp in 4th gear. Did anybody have this same limping issue when their ABS and Trac-control wasn’t working?
We also think it may be our transmission solenoid
Model: 2012 Ram 1500 with 5.7L
Please let me know!!
Thank you i did replace front but it could be one of the back i am going to try replace my rear speed sensor
I agree with the comments, we should be able to buy you a beer for this 🍻
Will that also cause my service 4wd light to come on with them. When I start my truck the abs and traction control light come on and right behind them the service 4wd light comes on.
Thanks for sharing. I hope it works for my 2009 Ram
I just all of mines in my 2010 dodge ram brand new drove it and mines still on but when I drive it goes off but in park in stays on 🤔
Does this cause the truck hesitate when driving mine jerk back and four a little bit then when I press down on the accelerator it disappear 🤔 and drive normal im going to try and do this myself please let me know 😅...
These are ONLY on the back wheels then? Nothing on the front?
Having similar problem. The lights on dash stopped happening, but now my ABS will randomly kick on during normal braking around town. Brakes still work but its an uncomfortable feeling and probably makes brakes work less effectively.
I have the brake light on not the ABS light would it be the same
Thank you so much Pete for such informative video, I have the same problem with my 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee, could you guide me where to buy the sensors, thanks in advance
I'm not sure how the speed sensor looks on a 2011 jeep grand Cherokee. I have a link in the description under the video for a 2012 ram, just go on Amazon and search for your vehicles wheel speed sensor and if you can, make sure they look the same as what's on your vehicle.
@@petebeasttexashomesteading Thank you so much Pete we'll do
Does the sensor control both the ABS and ESC? Only have the ESC light on
My 2011 Chrysler 300 does the same thing, I'm gonna try this thanks
👍
I have a newer ram -- it has computer glitches all the time - it started doing that back in the first 25 thousand miles or so - it has been coming and going all along - when they reset the computers on all of them somewhere along the line - they go away - you could have of course had a problem with a speed censor - but i noticed you had a lot of corrosion on the plugs and especially on the inside electrical stuff of the sensors - you didn't clean on the inside at all - and you didn't just unplug them and clean them just in case of that situation -- HUH ? ? -- where did you get the info you got - boobtube maybe - thanks for the heads up anyway - it is something to try if cleaning or recomputing on their schedule doesn't work - does that not also happen when the brakes are getting low and needs replacing ------ a good air compressor and some brake cleaner works for cleaning purposes very well i hear - wonder if it really does ? ! - what does show up when the brakes are getting too low I wonder ? !
Im having this but in my grand caravan. No abs light but just traction control light and no cruise like yours. Would this be the same fix?
14.8 mpg?! Thanks for the video - saved me some $$$
👍
Is this the same for front cause i just had front end work done now my lights are on
That was owe some video thank you.
Fixing to replace mine now.
I replaced both my rear wheel sensors and that did not fix my problem. My truck was hit on the front left wheel last year so I assume that’s where the issue is. I replaced that one last night. So it should take a few days to clear if that was indeed the problem. We’ll see
Sean Hebert I have the same problem you light traction control is steel on ???

Perfect video. Some inexpensive Rock auto sensors and we are back in business!

Damn nice I will try this. Got the same problem like you and hopefully it work.👍🎉
👍
good job thanks i hop its the same on my suburban tahu 2018
👍
I had the same lights on my 2009 dodge ram rear wheel drive truck. I changed both rear sensors today drove all day around the city at least 30 miles but the lights are still on. Any reason why they won't go off?
My abs light is on,brake lite, service 4x4,traction control lite is on and cruise control don't work and when my truck is started it won't come out of park but wen the key is on the on position it will come out of park..code scanner showed abs wheel sencors
You may have changed the wrong ones. It may need the front changed. A scanner is good to check which is bad. Or an ohm meter.
Thank u, mine is starting to act up!
Great , I hope it works . Will let you know ,Thanks
thanks for the vid .. how were you getting over 14 MPG? lol 5.7 or 6cyl?
How did you know it was the rear speed sensors and not the front? My 2017 just started displaying the ABS & traction control lights. Want to make sure I purchase the correct sensors, thanks.
Because my truck was rear wheel drive and not four. The speed sensor is used for traction control to check that the wheels are spinning the same or not.
I have a 21 ram 1500. Took it in to get pinion beating fixed. Now ABS light on, traction control lights on n cruise wontvwork
My ABS module costs 500.00
Hi Man, I have a Ford Focus ST mk1, but the light of TCS doesn't work. The ABS it's ok, doesn't have problem, but te traction Control the ligth doesn't turn on. What can Be??
that was very informative, thank u so much..
Did you have any issues with braking though? My truck seemed to want to kick on the ABS system when it wasn’t needed. Then I’d experience the problem you have described in the video. Of course, maybe it’s because the sensor(s) are bad that the ABS is activating at the wrong time. Either way, I’ll try this fix first. Thanks much.
I didn't have any issues with braking.
Loop
Will try thanks
I have the same lights on in my 2005 lexus lx470, do you think it's the same way to change? Thanks!
Did scan for codes and get a code C1073 ABS pump motor control circuit?
Is this compatible with a Dodge Challenger SRT8 ? Exact same problem.
I'm not 100% sure if the SRT8 uses the same sensor. But yeah you'll have to change it out.
I have a 2012 ram 3500 and I didn’t see this on my back wheels. I have a 6.7 cummins. I dont know if that makes any difference
I have an 08 3500 dually. They should be on all 4 wheels. They may be different from what he shows in the video. Check to see if there is a wire running from your pumpkin or wheel well down toward the brakes. That will lead you to it. Some fasten in at a different place and different angle. All 4 wheels have them to brake the vehicle in a straight line. They operate in milliseconds from each other to apply the brakes evenly in case some aren't worn or gripping the same as the others. If you Google it you should find them. Dodge or Ram may call them " Electronic Stability Control" as mentioned above in a post.
Does this issue cause ur steering wheel to steer to the right while driving?
No
This sounds like what is wrong with my 2008 durango. The brakes will actually engage very slightly by themselves at very low speeds randomly. Been driving it with this issue for the last week and now the cruise control doesn't work. Think it's the same issue?
how did you know that it wasn't the front sensor? thank you
Sensors only for the power drive wheels.
Hi thanks for the video, does it fixed your cruise control?
Yes it fix the cruise control because it's all connected.
Will this work on the 2015 models?
i just replaced both and it’s still on, does it go away right away or do i need to drive for a while ? if not, any idea on what else it might be ?
Btw I had the same issue as you and I found out it was my brake fluid. I checked the brake fluid it was low, because I have a cracked brake caliper that was leaking, so I refilled the brake fluid and the lights came off.

check fuses. they might be loose. it will trigger abs, esp light. dodge vehicles. pcm fuse might be blown or loose.
Helpful video. Thank you!
👍
Did it fix the cruise control too?
Yes
How do I rest it on my 2019 Nissan versa?
Would it be helpful or hurtful to spray a bit of dialectic aerosol into the hole before you reinsert the new sensor?
I might help make removal easier next time but the sensor itself is sealed.
@@petebeasttexashomesteading I was just wondering about all the dust and grit that gets up there. Especially on 4x4s that get muddy. Thanks for your reply!

Did it work?
I can’t seem to remove the ABS sensor itself from the hub. Any tips? I can get it removed as a whole, but not out of the unit that it plugs into.
