I totally agree with you and especially about Mitch. Every time he touches the mic it’s pure gold, he’s a musical genius with the voice of an angel - and a beautiful human being too. All of Pentatonix are insanely talented but Mitch is the star of the group and the jewel in their crown.
They'd been very active until Elliana's birth. They had a huge concert in the Bahamas in April, and a big performance in June. Kirstie was singing and dancing while wearing heels like a queen she is a few weeks before giving birth 28th of June. :) The Hollywood Bowl was in September. So they never really took much time off.
@@lauraa4294 Yes! Their work ethic is insane. They were working on a new original pop album + they were working on 'Holidays Around the World' with Toby Gad in summer as well.
Yes, this is their first concert post Kirstie giving birth. It's 3 months to the day since Kirstie gave birth. Their last concert was about 6 weeks pre-baby, so maybe an 18 week break total? In that range, anyway.
@@elizabethtucker6026 Please, re-read my comment. They had a performance in Vegas 06.06.2022. Evie was born 06.28.2022. So no 6 weeks pre-baby, more like 3 weeks.
I think my favourite thing out of all the Hollywood bowl video's is seeing Scott just loving life and happily dancing around smiling. They all sound fantastic.
I just saw them in their opening concert in Oakland and absolutely they killed everything! Mitch really is perfection. I’m biased I can’t help it. But also I was so impressed by each and every single one of them. Seriously they all were so personable on stage and it was one of the best nights I’ve ever had.
Mitch is the consummate professional. I love how they encourage people to sing along. I noticed they all, except Mitch, had a few breathless times. Mitch didn't jump around as much as the others. I know Kevin works out, lifts weights, etc. He seems to always have plenty of breath. I think Mitch sounds just like Cher.
i just saw them november 20th in denver and they sounded absolutely incredible! their sound engineers must be awesome because i could truly hear every person so clearly including matt’s incredible bass. they just don’t ever miss with me! when they sang joyful joyful at the concert, mitch about made me fall over. his mix and clarity is just out of this world. it literally sounded auto tuned but it was live. he’s got to be one of the best vocalists of our generation
I hate to inform you (and I'm not saying that they use it at all) but autotune or pitch correction are used live A LOT. It's pretty much the standard for almost all bigger artists now.
@@Simplenotion i mean if they do, it makes sense. especially because it’s acapella it’s more pressure for every person to be their best so the whole song comes together. i did think at times it literally sounded auto tuned or lip synced. but who knows
@@Erin49694 Scott says they don't use auto tune live, he says it's unfair to the fans. They are getting a star on the Hollywood walk of fame next year in the rarest category there is: 'Live Performances'.
@@j.6133 Why? I have seen them live with and without mics. They are fantastic. Please re-read my comment. I was just clarifying that live atotuning exists - I didn't say anything about Pentatonix in that regard.
Marc is funny. You can tell he's watched either this video or the live version enough times to know when they transition to the next song. I always like watching his reactions because you can tell he loves not just PTX but all music in general. I always felt that this sounds exactly like their Official video or better. I think they do transitions perfectly. Almost every live performance I've seen has been flawless. Especially the Daft Punk Medley.
I was at the Bowl concert and you are right the crowd was subdued. However, when you consider that the age range at the concert spanned from about 5 years to the 80s it is not surprising. They did an age call-out that ended in the 80s. I was on the shuttle bus with a family that had three generations going to the concert. They were wonderful.
I don’t know why but the American live shows always seem subdued. I saw a couple of clips from a few years back in Brazil. It was insane and you could tell how much the band appreciated the crowd’s enthusiasm ✌️
I’ve seen them live 4 or 5 times since 2012 and every time they’ve been absolutely amazing. Their level of polish and maturity is evident now but they’ve ALWAYS sounded amazing live and it’s always an amazing show.
As someone who was a teenager in the 90s, this is by far my FAVORITE non-Christmas stuff they do. I'm obsessed with this medley and wow, I hadn't seen this live performance. So incredible... and love how much you love it :D
Pentatonix is a gift from the music gods! I don't know who gave the crowd that collective dose of novacaine. I had to get up and dance around my living room while listening to that. Can't wait for the rest of the vids this month!
Enjoyed your reaction! Just saw them in Ft Worth Nov 22, and their maturity is showing in their stage presence & sound! So cohesive & rich & wonderful! From Jacob Restituto’s interview with Ben Bram, it sounds like they were working on the newest Christmas album from Mar-Aug since there are many many special features from around the world! Their original Christmas song with Meghan Trainor is a radio-ready bop!
Just wanted to point out that Mitch literally sings the last word, not Scott, but okay. 😆 I personally don't care which song the group chooses to end with. They all sound amazing in this one no matter what, especially Mitch.
I loved your reaction. Your facial expressions say it all. I was probably making the same expressions the first several times I watched this video. Like we couldn’t believe they sound this incredible LIVE. The live audience is fucking lucky. I’m absolutely jealous of every one of them for witnessing this live.
Interesting that the crowd was so quiet. I was at the Chicago stop, 5th row center, during their summer tour this year. A very demonstrative crowd. During the 90s medley the entire stadium was on their feet singing and dancing along with them. They really seemed to love the energy the crowd was giving them. They were laughing and dancing all over the stage, looking at each other like they were just part of a huge party feeding off our energy. You could barely hear them singing the crowd singing was so loud, but everyone seemed to be participating, not really upset that they could barely hear PTX. The rest of the concert everyone was on their feet really sending love to them. At the end of the concert Scott told us that they hadn’t had such an enthusiastic crowd in a long time and they loved coming to Chicago. At the time I thought that they probably said that at every stop, but….. Chicago wasn’t on the Christmas tour list originally, but a few weeks after the schedule was released they squeezed in a Chicago stop. I’d like to think that our enthusiasm and energy influenced wanting to add us to a really grueling tour schedule.
I love your reaction! You always have the best input to understand what’s going on in a performance. And I agree- Mitch is amazing!! ❤ going to Patreon now to finish watching the concert! 🎶🙌🏻♥️
can you do 12 days of christmas and wheel of christmas medley(they do that on tour now)? talk about matt and kevin more when they not sing and you pause first time on matt low notes when you play again after pausing rewind few seconds before because people missed stuff.
I just saw them last week. I had been wondering about how Kirstin would do. She completely blew me away. Her voice is crazy. For me, she was the best of the night.
At a cappella concerts the audiences tend to respect their fellow audience members so that they can all hear the singers and record videos in peace. If people around you are recording the concert for themelves or to share online, it would be rude to scream and make noise and ruin it for them. It seems more appropriate to wait until the end of songs and then applaud and scream, if they must. That's what they did.
Thanks for your reaction. However it has some contradictions. You say they are superb and don't miss a beat and commented on Kirstie's recent return from giving birth, yet you unfairly criticize her in this number. Yes, I agreed about Mitch being epic, but keep Kirstie in context: Return 3 months after giving birth; wearing 5-6" inch heels while performing strenuous choreography; exerting more energy than Mitch who sits comfortably within his usual range - while she carries a critical role in this less exciting, challenging mid-range. She was superb throughout this concert and deserves a break (breath, crowd support or otherwise). Phenomenal woman within a phenomenal group who all love, need and support each other!
Talking about the crowd's reaction (or lack thereof), I've heard that the Hollywood Bowl has an option for "season ticket holders" who get tickets to every concert held there in the season. So some of the crowd may not be as much fans of PTX as they are just music fans in general, and aren't reacting as much as a "normal" PTX crowd might. I've seen some Tik Toks of PTX interacting with the crowd in a few of their later tour appearances, and the crowd(s) seems to be more lively and appreciative than this one does.
Marc- amazing as always- PLEASE react to STEVE BALSAMO singing - Gethsemane from Jesus Christ Superstar. One of my favorite performances of all time!! His 1994 Concert in Ahoy is unreal
