Every now and then, when LMM is waiting at an airport he'll shoot out an "AskMe Anything" tweet. After this carpool karaoke, I asked him how it feels to have Audra McDonald belt with THAT VOICE right behind you in an enclosed vehicle. He said, "It felt exactly how it looked like it felt." I wished for a deeper answer.. but yes, it looked like it absolutely rocked him to the core.
Marc: "This screenshot right here is a perfect modern day adaptation of Les Mis. Obviously, the three of them would be jammed in the back of a Range Rover. Marius and Cosette would be uncomfortably fondling each other. While Eponine tragically sits beside them and contemplates jumping out of a moving car." THAT comment was HILARIOUS!
Did you know that the actor who plays the titular character House knows Lin Manuel Miranda? Actually he once made a joke about King George singing the line "you'll be back" to Miranda and that's where that particular song came from.

Carpool Karaoke came from a Comic Relief Red Nose Day special where James drove George Michael to the venue and they sang I’m Your Man together in the car. James’ show later used that clip to pitch the segment to Mariah Carey.
James came up with it like a decade ago while back in the UK for Comic Relief Red Nose Day & first guest was George Michael it was like a 2min thing and now he does them for like 12-25mins. I love this whole carpool karaoke episode. You should watch the series James does on the show too called "Crosswalk the musical." James character is hilarious.
i love both for totally different reasons... the crosswalk musicals are more scripted comedy and fun to see how they do a "larger"/more elaborate production in such a short time span... but i love all the carpool karaokes because they're less scripted and you get to see artists just be themselves and have fun without having to worry about the big production and always being perfect

Whether I'm quietly whispering them to myself while hearing the song through the retail speakers of a Barnes and Noble or I'm blaring the speakers in my car and belting at full volume, I will never not sing the words to Seasons of Love if the song plays :)

Okay, Marc, you've outdone yourself -- this was hilarious, and also EXTREMELY accurate! If you haven't belted out show tunes with a carful of people, you aren't musical-theatre-ing properly, because it is everything. This is also my all-time favorite Carpool Karaoke, just because they're all having so much fun, and there is so much real joy simply because they're all singing these songs they know and love right down to their souls. I share this video sometimes just to remind my friends (theatre and non-theatre friends alike) of how wonderful it is simply to sing. (Also, JTF pushing Jane away repeatedly while singing Marius is the subtext totally becoming text -- and so funny!) James Corden created Carpool Karaoke in the UK for an annual charity fundraiser about a decade ago. He did it with George Michael.
