Money well spent for sure. It’s so great that you always go the extra mile for your customers and do the job right
Thanks, I appreciate it 👊🏼
My '12 ram is doing this too and it's getting bad. The salt they use on the roads here is some fierce stuff. Thank you for making this video.
It's the little things that make a big difference - Another good quality repair. Enjoy your channel.
Thank you 👊🏼
I fixed my own 04 Ram about four years ago, so I can really relate to your repair of the rockers and corners. I also replaced the inner rocker on the drivers side. Took a lot of work and hours to do it all, but it turned out great. Can’t tell it was all replaced. I also fixed the bed around the wheel arches.
I need to do my 04 right now. Were you able to purchase the inner structure? If so can you tell me where you got it from?
Doing the extra small things = happy customers. Good for business
Really great job man! Very informative, awesome to see the whole process here. I’m hoping the shop that’s working on my 09 Ram currently can do work as nice.👍
Thank you, I think some of these videos are good simply for folks to see what’s involved in some of these kind of repairs👍🏼
John I purchased one of those door lift fixtures and man what a back savor !
Right? I can’t believe I waited this long to buy one!!
Good looking repair!
Excellent work, But I'm sure you know this that Those fender flares trap water and moisture that cause rust to form sooner than later. But the customer gets what the customer wants. Great job !
Yes, In this case the customer is aware that it’s not a solution, just a way to make her look good for a few more years 👍🏼👍🏼
I have to do mine and I have done some but this one has got to be done for longevity and restoration level. Thanks for the great professional level show.
Another great job and congratulations on your channel growing
You really explain the process well The people that say Why are the ones that dont care about vehicles and would rather spent 80 grand they probably dont know anything about cars or trucks
I really enjoy your videos. Thank you.
Thank you, I appreciate that very much!
Enjoyed the video! John, you're my kinda guy brother! Really like all the extras you do for your customers. Again, if I lived near you, I wouldn't hesitate to bring you my business and have you do the work on my 1990 Chevy C1500. Glad your channel is growing; it is well deserved 👍🏻
I appreciate that!
Thank you for the content! Great video
After I get mine done, fluid film will be going in there every fall before winter 😁
Its the best preventative maintenance for sure!
Looks great!
John, very much enjoyed from your video. Appreciate how you document the process all the way through and throw in your personal tips. Not coincidentally, I have a silver Dodge Ram very much like this with exactly the same issue. Your video has given me a good reason to think through the ‘fix and keep it’ option.
New trucks? $$$$$$$
Anyway keep up the good work. Well done!
Thank you, glad you found the video helpful 👍🏼
Good video John, truck looks good. I always enjoy these videos. Nice to see the older vehicles being taken care of so they last longer. Also, congrats on the UA-cam success I hope it keeps growing. Well deserved. Cheers
Thank you 🙏🏼
Nice work 👍🇬🇧
Thank you for explaining everything and the tips to.
Glad it was helpful!
Belt works great get a good 60 grit belt and it’ll take out all the spot weld on one belt
I definitely need to get some better quality belts, although I can probably do 100 trucks with one drill bit 😁
Nice job, I have a 2012 that needs same treatment, tho my rocker panels are not as bad as that one.
Ray Bucks Auto Panels has most panels bought panels for my Ram 2010 for around the gas tank and lower panels they carry the rocker panels also for most all vehicles and classic cars
That's where I found my rockers and can corners at. Now need them installed.. lol
Looks great, but be mindful with fender flares, dirt and salt from the roads gets under them and rot out your fender/wheelarch. My truck had them stock and still rusted out
Temporary band aid in this case, already pre-rusted under flares 😉
Don't spend all that UA-cam money in one place :). Nice job, looks good. Customer should have the lower portion of the front bumper painted black as well. Underneath looks great on the old gal, well worth a new set of rockers and cab corners. Thx for the video sir, it is appreciated.
You betcha, customer mentioned doing the bumpers black , I’m actually pretty stoked to be making 100 bucks a month extra 😁😁
Fixing old cars and keeping them out of the scrap yard is better for the environment than replacing with electric cars
Absolutely man, it just makes sense 👊🏼
I am not a big fan of electric cars.they always be gas.i heard stories those electric cats it's liked a cell phone type
Love your channel I have a 2013 ram it's starting to bubble up. Just wondering what does a job like this coast?? I want to save my truck
They’re typically in the $4000 range (Canadian) My shop rate is $75, but I’ve heard of collision shops charging 6-7K for the same repair
I need to do rockers on my 2015 RAM. Approximately how many hours did it take you to install the panels to the point that you were ready to paint? Great video!!!
I usually bill 12 hours a side 👍🏼
Looks great i really need this exact job done on my truck. How much do you charge for a job like this?
They’re all a little different, but typically rockers and cab corners run around 4000 (Canadian)
@Johnnymidnight that's a decent price especially for the way you go above and beyond with the rust proofing. I live in Niagara Falls NY the salt tears everything up. I'm also debating on trying this myself. But I have no clue how to paint and body fill.
How do water and salt get inside the rockers in the first place?
I love your channel. Just wondering where are you located I have a 2004 dodge ram 1500 that needs the same job done. 🤔 I would like it if you can fix my truck and I'll buy the rocker panel.
Located in Quesnel British Columbia
John where are you located and how much you charge for these jobs?
I’m in Quesnel BC, every job is different, but rockers and cab corners typically end up being in the 4500 range
So do you not have to sand away some of the POR15 where you spot welded? Thank you.
I try not to get it on the flange that I’ll be welding to, but coat that area with weld through primer
Hello, my name is Mike and I have a 2005 dodge ram 1500. It is in really good condition almost mint the guy that owned it before me was restoring it all I have to do is get rocker panels and cab corners. Where do I sign up?
Come on by for an estimate 😉
Hello loved the video, i also have a 2010 dodge ram 1500 with the same issues, asked a body shop for a quote and they said up to $7000, is that about right?
Around $4500 in my shop, using the OE style rockers, not the cheap slip inside. 7 is definitely pretty steep…..
Where r u located
In Quesnel BC
38:45 Do you recommend periodically flushing the inside of the rockers with water? Is there foam or anything inside the rockers like there is inside the wheel arches?
I don’t think it would hurt, they get wet inside anyway, best to do in hot weather then once dry treat inside with oil
What do you do if the bottom panel that you have to weld the rocker to is gone?
Then you need to replace the inner rocker as well
What brand Epoxy primer do you use?
I use PPG DP401 epoxy
Is that raptor liner that you used and then painted and cleared over?
Just Rockguard then paint
@@Johnnymidnight you should try raptor liner sometime if you've never used it before ive sprayed it on a few things look greats holds up great and doesn't have to be top coated and if you want to paint match it you can buy white stuff and tint it with color.
I’m honestly not a fan of putting it in the exterior of vehicles, it seems to always end up with moisture getting under and causing more issues, and makes future repairs extremely difficult
How much did this cost. Curious because I am getting an 04 that needs similar work.
In my shop typically $4500-5000, I’ve heard of collision shops telling people as much as $12000 🤦🏻♂️
Hey guys I gotta question will the rocker panel for a 2015 ram 3500 fit a 5500
I believe so, as far as I know the body panels are the same
@@Johnnymidnight thanks man god bless
Does the rear wheel well have foam 09-22 4th gen? My 15 has rust in rear wheel well and krown rust proofing don’t want to cover the cost to repair cause they says their is foam, but I think it’s the generation before mine.
I don’t think they do
@@Johnnymidnightthank you
what is the rust paint you are using?
I usually use either Krylon or POR15
Did the wraps...when they fall off it will be time lol
What's the price on a job like this? I need it done myself on my 13.
In my shop, rockers and cab corners typically in the $4500-5000 range
Can I ask what you charge for that job? I have the same problem.
With the OEM style rockers they typically run around $4000 (Canadian)
@@Johnnymidnight Wow, thanks.
What's the cost if you do it.
Typically in the $4500-5000 range
Can you give us an estimate on a job like that, please 🙏 and I buy the parts what is the difference in price. Thank you 😊
Every job is different, always best to see the vehicle in person 👍🏼
The aftermarket rocker should incorporate the rocker and cab corner like the newer gms do
Yeah, good point, not like a guy would ever replace one without the other
How much to do that
I need my ram done
Typically ends up being around $4500 (Canadian)
@@jamesspader8126lol join the dodge rust club lololol. I have the replacement panels. It's hard to find a good body man ...
Sadly I hope I'm wrong but I think the car industry is going to implode
I have to agree, I think they need to go back to trucks being a piece of equipment, not a luxury vehicle, and cars just being efficient transportation
