  • In this video, I will take you out sea trout fishing on the shoreline of Gotland. Fishing has been really good lately but the strong wind makes things difficult. I did just not want to give up so after I was done guiding my clients I went out to try catching some sea trout on my own.
For more info about my guided trips for sea trout:

I work as a guide for Fish Your Dream:

My setup used in this video:
Rod: Vision Stifu Seatrout 7wt 9´
    Reel: Vision Merisuola 7-8
Line: Vision XO 8 wt floating

Great video, as always! Keep up the good work. :) I actually caught some sea trout while fixing the little tangle you mentioned with the line out, Shrimp or Worm flies, after the tangling was fixed, i instantly had fish on, they just took it from the bottom. Surprising every time, I think we often receive the flies way too fast. Best regards!

Very rewarding session and very good video:) Any tips about basket or other parts of tackle would be very welcomed. BTW, there is nothing wrong with kelts, these fish are really great too, sea trout is a sea trout :) I know that many anglers have this 'oh, it's only a kelt...' attitude, but I strongly disagree with that. Thay are often harder to catch, thay fight like hell and their variety is insane, both males and females. That leopard fish was a real gem! :)
    Best regards from Poland.

I loved, the moment you slow and change the retrieve by moving the tripod the fish strike.
I would like to see you with a multi fly rig of at least two flies and a calling or a tractor floating pattern like a gurgler and used as a popping or even a wind and drift carrier device with only few pops every 10 seconds
Just to spice up the motivation at see what you we can learn at the end of the day either we catch or not 🙂
    Awesome channel!!👌👌👌
    Thank you for sharing!!

      Fly Fishing by Robert
We are doing that in NJ and in RI for SBass in the bay, some locals called popper dropper rig. I see we are fishing similar bait profile and scenarios you are fishing there for sea trout.
Here is one clip that I hope it opens your view for your local waters to catch the game fish.

Great video Robert. I've caught many seatrout in rivers at night in the pitch black but have been chasing them on the fly on the coast for last 3 years without being able to get one on the fly, got them on lures alright but not fly yet and its my mission to get one one the coast on the fly. Question do you use a long leader or short? Is 10 pound leader to heavy for them? Also I use the kust intermediate and an airflo floating line, both 7wt. Do I need to use a sink tip with them? Last question do I strip fast or slow? Hopefully you can help me get one as I see them jumping all around me but can't get them on the fly. Tight lines Robert

    Hi Robert,
    great video once again!
I have two questions and one suggestion.
Question : Can I ask what make is your line tray and where can i buy one online?
Suggestion : Could you possibly rig up something on your camera tripod to hold your 2nd rod so it doesnt impinge on your casting when its windy.

    • @FlyFishingbyRobert
      @FlyFishingbyRobert  4 роки тому

      Thanks!
The line basket is made by Fly Dressing and can be found online from several stores ”kanalgratis” and ”fishline” are two I know do International shipping.
Sure that can work as well. I don't want the tripod to catch too much wind or I tip it over if I catch in in my cast though. My camera ain't waterproof. If I just stuffed some more things in my bag it would have been more stable. It was really sagging and therefore making my rod move around.

@@FlyFishingbyRobert Thank you! Looks like Salmo trutta trutta. I didn't know there were sea going brown trout. Learn something every day!
I live in the NW US. We have multiple species of trout and char that are anadromous. Examples: "Steelhead" (oncorhynchus mykiss) is actually a sea going Rainbow Trout. We also have "Sea Run Cuthroat Trout" (oncorhynchus clarkii). And lastly "Bull Trout" (salvelinus confluentus).
