    It's a pretty tough move to learn, because of the hesitation after the first cross, it's deadly when you learn it

    • @bballbreakdown
      @bballbreakdown  10 років тому +3

      Yes, devastating, but tough to learn.

      LeBron has the same move but instead of doing it with a crossover he does it while he's running at you full speed. He'll double jab with his left foot then go right. But this is while he's running full speed though.

    He broke a lot of ankles in high school with that move.

      @Stefan Kovacevic 😂 I was at the game vs the bucks. If I'm not mistaken, he got Giannis LEANINNNN. Didn't make the highlights bc he missed the 3 but boy that guy got shook

      move is nice but i don't think as a coach i want Rivers to take step back threes... i want him to go to the rim.

    • @bballbreakdown
      @bballbreakdown  11 років тому +2

      For sure. Step backs should be for 15 footers. At the NBA level, some guys could extend their range, but Curry is the only guy I'd feel comfortable with shooting step back 3's

    It should also be pointed out that when austin hesitates he also pivots that foot a bit so it opens outwards adding to the illusion that he is going in that direction.

  • @smokingterd53
    @smokingterd53 10 років тому +18

    Austin Rivers is in the fog, Landing in the same spot usually creates a brick. ever seen blake griffin shoot? it puts too much pressure on the shoulders. When he shot for real his feet easily landed way in front of where he was. This takes pressure of the shoulder and lets you shoot with further range. Austin Rivers is in the fog, He does this by second nature.

    Rivers doesn't jump straight up and land in the same place when he shoots (and neither should you). His feet go forward making his shoulders go back (although not in a fade away motion) creating more arc on his shot.

    Coach Nick, I need some advice on which current NBA Team Playbook to use with my team. I've got
    C. Brad Daugherty
    PF. Horace Grant
    SF. John Havlicek
    SG. Kendall Gill
    PG. Pete Maravic
    with Ainge, Petrovic, Sam Perkins, CJ Watson and Gerald Green as 6th Man.
    Havlicek has a mean mid range, but I also bank on a Kendall Gill fast break. I rarely go to the post and my bench is a 3 point dynasty lol
    Love to hear your advice on which team's plays this would work best with

    Hey Coach, what is your actual opinion on this ten degree foot placement ? because I consider myself a pretty good shooter, and I haven't ever been good at lining my toes up to the basket, also I even use the "Sway" since I'm 5'5" and a lot of my shots used to come up short. My head basketball coach is really big on shooting form, even cutting excellent shooters that have horrible form. Do you think me shooting the way I do would hurt my chances of making a highschool basketball team ?

  • @rorydarty5094

    good looking hesitation (to ideally gain separation) Austin but that step back is going to be contested and since most guys don't shoot as well as you, I believe the next lesson should be how to push off that same step back into a counter cross to drive to the basket.... Great video though!

    I think having a slight drift inward toward the basket is good, because the shooter has the best angle and view of a missed shot. Austin has always chased his missed shots and tried to rebound them. Unfortunately, most players drift backward and have no chance of getting a miss back.
