    This was honestly the best trainer Coach Nick could have chosen to depict this move, and I am in no way repping Shift Team. Devin is a legitimate player with a humbling story and as this video demonstrates, he knows not just the moves he teaches inside out, but also the small, minute details that either make-or-break the move at game speed. We want more of him, Coach! Take it easy.

      Yes he does, and a pleasure to work with a trainer who can explain those details...

    the best tip is about focusing on the rim not on defender or contact. that was great question coach! now I know why I struggle getting baskets. I focus too much on getting contact and I look at the defender not the rim. I think this applies to all situations when attacking the rim.

    I was always a one foot jumper until I tore my ACL then I moved to 2 feet. I still haven't gotten back to where I quite was vertical wise but I became a much quicker and vicious jumper when I switched to two

    nice move to absorb contact mainly against big centers that like to jump vertical... also loved the training with the pads. I´ve noticed on many occasions the player landed first with the foot he jumped off from, that on NBA is an automatic travel.

    it looks like at 0:34 he jumps and then jumps again. What's the difference between this and jumping up and down twice (which would be travelling), does the rule change as he is moving and the first jump is regarded as a step?

    • @bballbreakdown
      @bballbreakdown  9 років тому +1

      Yes. On the last dribble, as he's picking it up, you're allowed a gather step, which is the first jump.

  • @Jeremyalsopjr

    Question - I understand the whole concept of taking off of both feet to finish a layup in traffic. But how about a floater in traffic?? Is it better to jump stop and go up and float it over the top or is it better to extend off of one leg???

  • @aaronpikus7150
    @aaronpikus7150 10 років тому

    Looks like a good move, but it also looks like it could be a travel. Do you only pick the ball up after you get in the air, or how do you do that move to not travel?

    • @bballbreakdown
      @bballbreakdown  10 років тому

      The first jump is done as you dribble the ball, so it's considered a gather step, then the landing and jumping to shoot is the real jump part of the move...

    • @aaronpikus7150
      @aaronpikus7150 10 років тому

      BBALLBREAKDOWN Okay, I just wasn't sure if the jump could count as a gather step. Thanks a lot for doing all of these videos that show us different techniques. I especially liked the one about improving the jump shot.

  • @Johnasdc

    but if youre going for straight layup... you dont have to do this.. because you jump higher off one foot... but both feet will help provide balance and stabilty.. thats why its good when finishing in traffic...
