- The title says it all... I hope y'all like ramen. My to-do list is just getting bigger and bigger as the items in my apartment pile higher and higher. I don't even want to talk about the hot mess that is my closet. However, this is reality and this is the current state of my 2 month and 2 week old NYC apartment. It goes without saying that we have A LOT of work to do.
Subscribe to join in on the fun... and when I say fun I mean cleaning my closet, installing pendant lights, purchasing TWO large carpets because I was being impulsive... that type of fun. Sounds good to you?

Before you sell your living room rug try putting it in your bedroom. It'll soften up the room and your feet will love it.

I agree with you about the mirror, it's such a great piece & it's not really being used to it's full potential. This was not stress inducing, just the opposite. You have such a great dry sense of humor that I was chuckling through most of the video. You will pull the place together, look at what you did with the last one, gorgeous!

I’m here for the chaos. It’s real life. I love that dresser. I think the rug looks great with the couch. I don’t think two months is too long not to be done. stuff in the closet on the shelf can go in baskets on the shelf...... put the wonky shaped mirror on the mantel right now over your dresser going into your bedroom... I would keep the credenza & put it in front of the fireplace until it sells ( you may like it there anywhere & put the TV on top of it)...The fireplace opening is a weird size. That black framed mirror would look good on that blank kitchen wall actually!!! Think out of the box.........I like the rug & the footstool

Hello Gail! 👋 Your apartment is coming together nicely 🙂. When we moved into Our 400 sq ft Studio Apartment, it took me awhile to figure things out. Lots of downsizing was required. But now we've been here 1.5 yrs, im REALLY happy with the choices we made! 😊😊. I share that to encourage you that it just takes time. May i suggest, putting the Cradezol where you have the dresser? Use it like a Buffet area when you have Dinner Parties. Hang a Mirror above it to bounce light around. Then put the dresser in the bedroom and hang a mirror above that. Just some ideas. The rug is beautiful and i look forward to seeing how the chairs and coffee table will look in there. Its amazing how just switching a things around, really makes a House feel like Home! 😘. Love the carpet! Keep the credenza and put it opposite the table with the mirror above. Apartment is looking fabulous.

I love the carpet a designer hack is to turn the rug inside out and it looks lighter. I don’t know what the other one looks like. Oh great your bringing back 2 chairs from your family visit.I think your doing a great job and I love that new dresser
I like the carpet. It looks good with your green couch. I’m a fan of it 😀. The dresser looks ok where it is. It’s always good to have more storage and you could keep your credenza. Or flip flop them😎. You could put mirror in the bedroom and a nice painting on the mantle.

I ate Top Ramen every Saturday lunch since college. Suddenly I started getting horrible stomach aches Sunday mornings. Wrote down what i ate started to see pattern.......it was the ramen. The cheap kind though........the expensive kind doesnt taste as good though but no prob.Need some pillows on the couch to jazz it up.
Hoping to soon cut the ramen packets out of my life 😅 pillows are on the docket!
We all have chaotic days Gail, that is life. A little tip for your mirror, I had one reflecting what I did not want as well. You take a wine cork or something of similar thickness and place behind the top edge, this holds it further from the wall and changes the angle. It was a game changer for what reflected after. Hope this helps.

You can place the Etsy rug underneath your dining table set. Especially if it goes with your other one. Comfier chairs would be nice. The mirror can possibly go above your couch....and if you can bring down the mantle over the fireplace, you can place a TV screen there.
Your apartment is so cute and seems like a good layout. Since you’re having trouble selling the credenza, could you maybe put it in front of the windows where it looks like you have a record player cabinet? Since the cabinet is smaller, it would be easier to stick somewhere or maybe sell or store it at your mom’s. Would the rug in the living room now fit in your bedroom? That would be a way to keep a rug you like. I agree with the mirror over the fireplace. Since it looks lighter than the big black one in the bedroom, maybe you could hang it over the couch. You could hang it a little lower so you could actually see in it and it would maybe reflect light from windows. You might be able to use that big black mirror over your dresser. If it’s too heavy to hang, you could lean it against wall. If it looks bad with the wood color of dresser, you could paint it maybe gold or whatever color you think would look good. They make drawers that hang from shelves. Usually used in kitchens but might work on your desk to get you some storage. Amazon probably carries theses. I think you’re doing a good job and that you’re going to be really happy with the end result. Those bathroom lights are weird!
Maybe you could put the mirror over the sofa. That would open up the room. So far your apartment looks great. You have a good eye for interior decor.

Thanks for the tour and for sharing the updates! Turning a space into a home certainly takes time. The new dresser looks fab. I initially thought it's going to stay where it currently is and was thinking it would look great with the oval black mirror hung over it. But then you later explained it was meant for the bedroom. I kind of like the credenza in the bedroom perhaps because it isn't too high so it opens up the room despite its significant size. It'd perhaps have the mirror vertically rather than horizontally. Looking forward to seeing the new rug, coffee table and arm chairs :)

Give yourself some time to get yourself and your apartment together .And you've only been there for 2 months and I heard that moving to NYC ; or anywhere else, can be daunting at first , but , I'm sure it'll look great when it's finished .

We have those types of lights in several of our rooms. Ours, however, goes to three different modes. I love them and they should have a remote.

Ok the rug is gorgeous, I am interested to see what you ordered. Do you have a rug in your bedroom? It could go in there. Maybe the mirror in the kitchen on the wall you were not sure about, or possibly above your dresser? The mirror that is in the bedroom right now, seems to not fit with the decor you are going for. Maybe find an Anthropologie mirror dupe for your fire place mantle, but go smaller? Give your self some grace you are being intentional with your decor, it takes time 🫶🫶

I really enjoy these kind of slice of life videos. Thanks for showing us around! If you end us not selling the credenza, consider if there is room to use it as a behind the sofa console to set plants, a few books or other knick knacks and a maybe a reading lamp on. It would be backed against the wall, so you could store items you don’t need often in it since you would have to move the sofa out to get to the storage. Of course you have to consider the depth it would take up, but might be a solution! Also, that rug is lovely. How about using that one on your bedroom floor if you end up liking the new one better? Part of it would most likely be under the bed since it looks larger than your floorspace, and under your desk area, too, but it would give you a great vibe in that room.

🌷 I love that mirror you have on the fireplace, it’s unique. Have you tried the one you have in the bedroom. I think before you move the mirror you should do the wall above the couch. Whatever you do with that will take away the vision of the smoke alarm. Plus it will reflect into the mirror.

I love the carpet can't wait to see the other style you choose. I really, really like your footstool!! Love the dresser. Sometimes when I buy Chinese food, I get the veggies, then I come home and use the veggies in my Ramen BUT I don't use the Ramen seasonings, too much salt, instead of water I use chicken broth.
I do always feel a little guilty with the salt count... but I went on a run tonight so hoping that counts for something!

I’ve definitely never seen that lighting situation before 😂 hopefully it’s not a faulty electrical issue! But also I’ve lived in my home for three years and it’s still missing a ton of furniture and a ton of walls are blank… I totally feel you on this, it’s such a process!

My ceiling fans have the same kind of lightbulbs that you have in your bathroom. Out of the 3, one is truly terrible and hurts my eyes. I always use the warm hue, too.

The carpet is fantastic and fits the vibe. I don’t think it’s the issue, it’s the footstool doing it to you - pattern and texture are clashing with rest of your space. The footstool would look better in your bedroom, I think.
