When I used to leave rentals (I own now here in England) I used to walk around the flat touching the walls and space and thank it for looking after me the time I'd spent there. I believe places have their own kind of souls and energy. Good luck setting up the new place, whilst moving is so tiring, its kind of therapeutic and fun when you recover! :)
I love this so much! I went from a studio, to a 1 bedroom, to a 2 bedroom house with my husband, and now a 3 bedroom house with my husband and kids. I miss my little studio, it was my first time living by myself and I loved it.
Can't believe how small the old apartment looks without your stuff in it. Just shows what an amazing job you did decorating it & bringing it to life. Cannot wait to see what you do with the new place.🤗
I’m excited about you moving into a bigger space. You’re gonna have so much fun with it. From time to time, I sage smudge or burn white sage incense in my home, to purify it and welcome good chi. It’s an intentional and spiritual ritual for me, that makes my place a peaceful vibe. I’ve been in my apartment almost 4 years, and will have a million holes to patch up when I eventually move. Every few months, I spritz and wipe baseboards, windowsills and door frames. It eliminates the need for deep cleaning when I move out.
Congratulations on your new apartment. Love the fireplace, fire escape, extra kitchen space (an electric stove is safer, I think). You did such a great job designing and decorating your previous apartment, so I'm looking forward to see how you decorate your new unit. You have done an excellent job with your videos. Unlike many UA-camrs, you don't "overtalk." You seem like a very thoughtful and substantive young woman. I hope to learn more about your story. Thanks, Judy (I live in a 200-plus sq. ft. loft).
It’s amazing to me how much more space you got with just 105 sq. ft.! I love that you finally got a working kitchen (I liked your salmon cooking video)!
WHOA...that is wildly cheap for Manhattan moving. I moved from Hoboken over to Sutton way the heck back in 1994 when I was 21 and it cost me over $2K!! I think it took 6 hours (and they took 1 hour for lunch, so 7 hours start to finish) including travel time through the Lincoln Tunnel. Plus, the movers tried to scam me by holding my things hostage on the truck until I paid them (as in before they moved it upstairs to the new apartment). This is the stuff NYC & NJ movers could get away with before platforms like Yelp and social media existed (and had already made huge cross country moves with huge amoires, new couch, chairs, dining table, king size bed, etc to get to Hoboken and was a very experienced mover by that young age even, and that had never happened anywhere else before). So glad you had such a seamless experience. Piece of Cake is an excellent name for those movers because they really seemed to know what they're doing. I'll be sure to recommend them to friends. The soot you breathe in on a daily basis in Manhattan is FOR REAL! I'm sure you've had a cold and blown your nose and had black or grey stuff come out. Plus, when you wash your hands before eating and the water is grayish. Ewwww. That's city living. Your items are definitely "home" but an empty apartment after you've lived in it will always look familiar even a decade or two later after it's been renovated and you see it online. Plus, you will have all these videos to look back on when you're much older and want to look back on the extraordinary time of your life when you lived in Manhattan. I think you were in East Harlem before, so maybe you're more centrally located now. Hope you love it there! Fingers crossed for kitty-quiet neighbors!
When I was younger, I moved all around the country. I had many adventures, mostly good. After I had my daughter, I moved into a 2 bedroom in a transitional part of Brooklyn. I stayed in that apartment for 34 years. I moved about 2 1/2 years ago to my current apartment. I'm still changing things around and getting it the way I want it. I started with the kitchen first since I don't like chaos in that room.
Adorable. I'm the same with moving in... I'm not good with clutter so out it all comes and placed. Congrats on that lovely sunshine, it will make such a difference.
Congrats on your new apartment. I love the fireplace to make it look cozy. My last move was therapeutic in the sense that it helped me through the grief of losing my cat. My cat passed away four days before my move. The process of packing, moving and unpacking gave me no time to sink into the sorrow. By the time everything was in its place the mourning process was easier because the initial shock and devastation was replaced with the urgency to move. Long story short, if anyone is dealing with loss or breakup I highly recommend doing something that requires a lot of energy.
I’m glad the move went well. I know how much work it is. I usually half unpack when I move in and take my time with the other half. Enjoy the process as much as I can.
Whenever I move, first I don’t really buy boxes, I have moving bags that are reusable and have handles so they are easy to carry… I also use my clothes to wrap dishes and other fragile items, because it’s less wasteful and you have to pack your clothes anyways… and I’m a straight unpacker, before anything else I need to settle.
I totally agree! Good to be less wasteful - the boxes and packing materials I used were repurposed from FB Marketplace! But I also used towels for packing delicate items. Thanks for sharing 🙂
I have been enjoying your apartment vlogs so far! I really do love seeing how differently people live. I live in Houston and so seeing your space in NY is just so cool. I think when I moved into my home, I paid $600 total for a 4bd room house! LOL. But of course - moving is a bit different here, as the space situation is less of an issue. It's SOOO worth getting movers, nevertheless. I am also someone who MUST start unpacking. I can't sit with boxes all over for more than a week. I love to make my space cozy right away. - just like you. Can't believe how small your old place seems now that it's empty! I feel like it could fit in my living room. :D Excited to see how you bring your new space together.
Good evening, I’m a new subscriber to your channel. I would like to know if you can link some of your furniture and items. Thank you, especially your beautiful couch.
Hello Again! Congrats on everything being moved in, A great feeling! My last apt was near there & I recognized La Fonda, as I’ve eaten/drank there before! I’m a huge thrift store junkie & ur right around the corner from a GREAT shop called El Barrio Thrift Store! 2123 2nd Ave between 109/110 St! They have records at times & really nice/good condition furnishings & Knick-knacks! There’s also Anne Mary’s Place: 1982 3rd Ave @ 109th St. It’s small & carry a variety. Also, Arcoiris Thrift Store: 1627 Park Ave on corner of 115th St. Carrie’s a variety of items. My favorite for records was a Goodwill on 3rd Ave/122nd St, but i googled & was shocked to see they are permanently closed!! Their records were 50cents & every few days they would get 20-50 records & they always had funk/soul & jazz albums in mint condition! A shame they are gone! Glad you put ur records up, as you said you would & have fun looking for new treasures!
Lovely new space. I also need lots of natural light. Was the air-conditioner yours? Maybe I missed something. You should have had the movers take it, safe your back. May you be blessed in your new space. 🙏🏼
The first time I used professional movers I felt so uncomfortable just watching them do all the work, so I jumped in and helped. I was as sore the next day as if I had moved everything on my own! I learned my lesson and let the guys do all the work the next time. I have to start setting up as soon as possible. All of those boxes and empty walls drive me crazy. Just remember everything doesn’t have to be done in one day. Get some rest.
Hey girly new to your channel i saw your other video of the apt your leaving its was so cozy and beautiful and cant wait to see how this one turns out the light and windows are everything also how helpful of the team that you hired to move ❤ how beautiful to document where you are living and to look back to it
Enjoying your videos and looking forward to future videos. Would it be too personal to ask what kind of rent you paid for each apartment? I am interested because one of my daughters lived there a few years ago and my youngest daughter just moved to New York two weeks ago. I live in Georgia and find it very interesting to see the differences in cost of living. I’m so glad you had a good experience with your movers. I hope you enjoy your new place!
Hi there! Thank you for being here 🙂 How exciting for your daughter! I was paying $2000 for the old apartment (if I resigned for a 3rd year it was going to be $2,150) and now paying closer to $2,500 for the new!
Lovely apartment. I know it isn’t important but the mirror above the fireplace doesn’t look good. It’s too big and it simply reflects your light fixture. Facing a window would double your light and make it look bigger. Pardon the advice. Best of luck in your new home.
Lovely apartment! Your videos remind me of my little slice of NYC when I was your age. I like your turntable and I would like to know if you recommend it? It looks like it has bluetooth and comes with built-in amplifier? I have so many vinyl records that I would like to listen to again. Good luck with your new chapter!
Hi there! Yes there is a bluetooth connection but no built-in amp. I've had this for 2 years and I love it. Here's the link! www.bestbuy.com/site/sony-bluetooth-stereo-turntable-black/6336535.p?skuId=6336535
Is the apartment that you left available for rent? I'm from Brooklyn, I was born and raised there and I'm currently looking for a rental there. I LOVE the brick walls and the tiles in the bathroom. And, I'm so glad that there is laundry in the building. Thanks a lot in advance for letting me know.

I totally agree! There are so many memories housed in the walls that we live and have lived in - thank you for sharing 😊
I love this so much! I went from a studio, to a 1 bedroom, to a 2 bedroom house with my husband, and now a 3 bedroom house with my husband and kids. I miss my little studio, it was my first time living by myself and I loved it.

Just like everyone before us and everyone after us, we leave a piece of us in every place we live.
We truly do!

I have always felt you leave a little piece of yourself in each place 😊
agreed!!

That's so very kind of you to say - thank you, Judy! ♥
I love the character that old building have❤
It’s amazing to me how much more space you got with just 105 sq. ft.!

Thank you so much! And yes, it's the entire living room!

Spackling is my favorite thing to do. A light sanding, and you can't tell there were shelves or pictures.
That's the hope!!!
Adorable. I'm the same with moving in... I'm not good with clutter so out it all comes and placed. Congrats on that lovely sunshine, it will make such a difference.
Your new pet bird is actually a mourning dove. You could put out a cup of seed and water!
Nice new place -- can't wait to see your journey!
Congratulations! Like the way you operate and start decorating. Nice apartment.
Appreciate that!
You can tell what a good job you did decorating by what the apartment looks like empty. Paradoxically, it also looks smaller.
I always started right away when I lived in an apartment like you did
Haha we can't help it!

I loved your ending. Maybe it was just in my mind.

To fill holes fast and easy use white tooth paste 😊
Haha that’s one way to patch!
Thanks for sharing 😊
The new apartment looks so nice.
Thank you so much!! It has been great

Had to come to my phone to comment, but I’m watching you on UA-cam television. Thank you.
Thank you so much for watching! I typically link the items in the description box of each video ☺
Oh the apartmen comes with a pet!!!! I love the birds that visit my front patio! just get a bird feeder and away you go!

oh gosh, you're so right -- I having it uninstalled this weekend! But would've been much easier if they did it

Thank you and it's a great reminder to not tackle everything at once!
As a record collector and music lover I dig your taste in albums. Can't go wrong with Aretha!
thank you! 🙂🎶
Your desk on the wall where the record cabinet was would allow all of your window to show.
Lovely bird is a Mourning Dove!
Ah thank you for correcting me!!

thanks for being here 🥰 yess the window light is absolutely what stole my heart!
I've used Piece of Cake. They are awesome
Congratulations again on the new apartment.
thank you so much!! 🥰
Happened to find your vlogs and enjoy your content 👍 Wishing you success in your future journey!💞
Thanks for being here! 😊
First thing i would do after the fournitures are here is to clean the floor😅😅😅
Definitely would have been a good call😅
Very sweet video! Good luck on your new apartment! You seem like a sweet soul :)
Thank you so much 😊
Alright all in the new place, 600 hundred is what I paid about 3 years ago one bed to a one bed. ☺
LOVE your new place!
Thank you!!!
Did I see Durans first album in your collection?
New subscriber here… looking forward to see what you do with your beautiful new apartment. Congrats! 🎉🍾
Thank you and welcome!!

Not at all actually haha

Hi there! Unfortunately I am not sure when the building plans to put it up for rent again
Did you stay in the same neighborhood?
So why did she leave that beuatiful apartment before? Is this one bigger?
Bigger, more of an open layout, and sunlight all throughout! 🥰
That's a dove not a pigeon. Thanks for the vlog.
I had no idea! Thanks for sharing 🐦
How much was the rent on the old apartment?
It was about $2000 a month!
That's a dove
