I went through a hiatus of not touching TF2 for close to 7 years, and when I came back to it properly early last year I wanted to try out some different weapons to see if I could spice things up a bit. I stumbled across the Liberty Attack combo and it has become my go-to Soldier loadout ever since, so much so to the point where I have to force myself to not always use it so I don't become used to the LL stats and totally fuck up when I wanna use stock. Having that extra rocket and lower blast jump damage encourages me to adopt a more aggressive playstyle and it has seriously improved my overall gamesense and ability to pick my targets well, I'd highly encourage it.
I haven’t touched TF2 in eight years, but somehow UA-cam keeps sending me these videos to watch. And now, after reading your comment, I think it’s time to get back into it.
Seems like this sort of combo with the panic attack or reserve shooter would be a fantastic roaming soldier load out. Finding isolated enemies returning to the front from spawn and ambushing them at close range to reset their respawning timer
I have been doing this combo for a while, except it's with stock/cow mangler. It's actually really fun and effective in close range. The problem with the loadout I used was that airblasting pyros would still get me. With the discovery of this load out, this may help mitigate my one weakness.
I've always done this when I have any shotgun as soldier. People get shredded as rockets and shotgun pellets come flying at the same time. I honestly think the shotgun is great after the first rocket, anything with 150 hp or less dies in one rocket and shotgun round.
This is why i like the liberty launcher, because it's not great on it's own, but when paired with a shotgun like the panic attack or reserve shooter (y'know, that one shotgun that was actually made to be paired with the liberty that everyone forgot existed once pyro couldn't use it with his airblast), it is a fantastic combo starter
pressing Q will switch you to previous weapon and if you have a mouse with extra buttons on sides you can rebind them to extra mouse buttons for easier switching this is just a theory ofcourse so i will have to try out.
a Woolen Sleevelet has a config/script for most classes where you click mouse one for primary and mouse two for secondary, just removes the pressing q for switching with just a button also for example with Soldier, you press m2 for shotgun, you press m2 to shoot as well and vice versa ua-cam.com/video/cRGW4a1K_Io/v-deo.html
Thanks for the idea, I will now proceed to use this to exclusively target Pyro. I will have my revenge for every health kit wasted recovering from a single scorch shot.
This is why the best kind of play includes variety, I will proceed to teach this to new players to give them a brutal, but efficient way to learn flik combos as well as countering airblast heavy pyros, this is also good for us pyros, we get to practice the liberty some more!
Genius combo. For the liberty launcher, using the speed of a direct hit rocket while retaining the splash of a regular rocket is perfect. And the panic attack. The switch speed and fixed shots give quick reliable damage. Much better than a reserve shooter. Perfect combo in my eyes.
i think the number of crits you got is a sign that it actually has really good dps even though its hard to reasonably estimate for actual gameplay with a splash damage weapon and the panic attack
This set is easily the best way l found long ago for a soldier to decimate any mge-hardened comp scout main of similar-ish skill level in *_any_* 1v1 scenario, able to cover both the mid-range jump-spammer with the fast liberty launcher and the close-range bum-rusher with the instaswitch 100+ dmg panic attack, and thus leveling the field in a 185hp scout-dominated comp meta. Of course, this was back when l still cared about 6v6; now, while l still use the panic attack, l just enjoy instafragging casual scouts with my beloved direct hit. ☺️
I'm pretty sure the DPS would be just as good, if not, better with running any other rocket launcher whilst leaving everything else unchanged. If they changed the LL to have faster switch speed (which would itself boost its sole use as a trolldier crutch), I'd probably say this setup is subtly genius. But otherwise, it's just handicapping yourself for flashy-looking kills.
@@FelipeJaquez The liberty launcher is literally inferior on a mathematical level to literally every single rocket launcher in the game. One day you'll break out of the contrarian mentality.
i think you should try this with the air strike because the reason to use the liberty launcher was an extra rocket, but with the air strike you can have many extra rockets
I bound my mouse to have mouse wheel up select primary, mouse wheel down for melee, and the forward side button (near left-click) was jump. And then the side button closer to my wrist selected secondary. I was mainly a Degreaser Pyro and a rocket-jumping Soldier, so I needed fast weapons switch. You can just hold down left mouse during the switch, and the weapon would fire as soon as it was ready (no scripting or mashing necessary).
I think the Liberty Launcher does have a bit of an advantage here since a pretty large part of your damage also comes from the Panic Attack, so the faster rocket speed is a better upside to throw off your opponents muscle memory without being completely crippled by the lower damage output.
The liberty launcher is also useful for extending the combo out to midrange, because even if you are a god at prediction, sometimes that stock rocket is just too slow. Even if at midrange you're doing slightly more than chip damage with the panic attack, you're offsetting the Liberty's reduced damage and resetting the spread on the panic attack each time you cycle through
I had to pause the video to catch my breath after seeing your Market Gardner's name and description. At 5AM, that managed to be the single funniest thing on Earth.
instead of spam switching a lot of the kills here couldve been achieved with two stock rockets followed by a panic attack shot after if needed takes basically the same amount of time
Wait, others are just finding this out? I once shredded a Medic by hitting him with my pan, launched him away with my stock rocket launcher, then finished him off with my Panic Attack. I should give the Liberty Launcher a try though!
You made an old player that saw the liberty launcher as a huge guilty pleasure (to resist, as that fifth rocket is basically a drug but everything else is eh) happy. The panic attack is also a shotgun i really liked but didn't use much, i haven't felt this excited to try something new in tf2 in years.
I’m 3:13 in, and wouldn’t the Direct Hit and Reserve Shooter serve the same purpose and be even more lethal, not accounting for tighter aiming requirements? I guess this loadout would be a great learning tool for the DH RS combo since it is more forgiving. Edit: Originally typed Rescue Ranger XD
Reserve shooter and Direct hit both need more time for reloading compared to this and is more punishing when missing. This combo is a more appealing set since it's far more consistent to land, especially because of the panic attack. This is a more purely fun + skilled loadout than a Meta Loadout
I love this, but the thing I have been having tons of fun with is the airstrike with the gunboats and market gardener. I just love rocket jumping all over the place with the 8 rockets and just destroying heavies bombing in.
I've been playing a slightly altered version of this for a while. Instead of playing like a degreaser pyro, you play like a scout, using rocketjumps to get up close, and blast them with your panic attack. The liberty launcher works like a mini-gunboats, leaving you with more health after jumping. At close range, a panic attack meatshot does similar damage to a stock rocket bodyshot. It actually makes for a decent primary weapon, and you still have the option to fire a rocket to finish people off if they run away from you. I call it: The Eagle Scout
My personal loadout is black box + reserve shooter. I see it as a good balance of everything: 7 total shots means I can sustain fights more than just a stock rocket launcher's 4. Black box means I can heal a bit and survive longer. Reserve shooter acts as a pseudo-counter to pyro And my playstyle of 1 black box rocket to launch opponents followed by a quick reserve minicrit, allows for decent burst damage (albeit not as much as liberty+panic in close range), but, it's enough to 1 hit light classes, and functions better mid-long range since reserve shooter suffers less bullet spread than panic attack (while still having some switch-to speed) and can minicrit, which has absolutely 0 damage falloff. It does get some getting used to in order to pull off consistently, but I give you this, it's a good all-rounder. Give it a try. (replace the black box with stock if you want more damage and the map has lots of health packs/medics)
the liberty launcher here definitely has its merits over stock, and honestly could be optimal. This combo basically nullfies each weapons flaws, and makes it so that soldier becomes a very good flanking class. your basically playing diet trolldier with a lot more versatility. the liberty flaws are cancelled due to the panic attack, and you still have the jump damage reduction, extra ammo, and weird speed of the liberty launcher. and due to you having the panic attack when you go for market gardens you can fairly consistently kill a heavy. ngl I sorta like the build. it basically fixes all of the faults of trolldier at the cost of some hp but still less than just stock and the gunboats, or just stock.
Great vid! I'll have to try this. I think the reason this works well with the Lib Launcher is that the clip size is larger and similar to that of the Panic Attack. Only downside I could see is that you'd spend a lot of time reloading when the time comes.
I’ve been trying out this combo lately, and I’m shocked at how fun and effective it is. I think the Liberty Launcher’s extra rocket and speed are what make it work, because you can switch to the Panic Attack and shoot right when the rocket hits the enemy, and do that more times before reloading. It’s a great roamer loadout, at least for me.
I've been using this combo whenever i play soldier for awhile Which admittedly is not very often But is often enough that i have a strange liberty launcher and a strange panic attack
I see. Liberty Launcher for more rockets to spam and for when you miss some, The Panic Attack because of the Fast Switch Speed and Fixed Spread, Escape Plan to, well, escape, so you can reload both guns to prepare for the next combo spam. Interesting.
I recently watched elmaxo's Bing Soy video and I really see Bing Soy's message displayed in elmaxo breaking the meta using two weapons that were never really considered good together. It warms my heart to see Bing Soy changing elmaxo's life, one odd loadout at a time.
this actually looks like a perfect strat for me. ive always found soldier strangely sluggish and only usually enjoy the cow mangler for spam but this seems fun
another use of the liberty launcher is that if you mix it with the gunboats, since both have self damage reduction which stack, you have essentially a half committed troldier. You can rocket jump while receiving way less damage from each jump and still fire rockets that do damage.
I feel like the real strat with this is using the liberty launcher to jump into close range, land a panic attack shot as you’re bombing in, then continue from there.
So your telling me I concocted the a broken new meta 6 years ago and never hit a shot like 0 kills on my liberty launcher and panic attack and then left the game? Well bite my ass mate i cant believe this!
It makes sense. Soldier builds tend to have either have a stock rocket launcher or direct hit with some sort sort of banner or gunboats with the escape plan or displinary action, whereas with this loadout, you basically have really good switch speed, automatically have gunboats (beacuase of the liberty launcher), one extra rocket, and flexible rocket jumping potential. The combo makes sense.
It’s funny cause I was using stock rockets and stock shotgun on MGE with my brother and I thought how I could make it more broken. And you did it. Great vid! Your editing has gotten miles better, those 50 cans of monster really helped. Keep up the great work!

There's a soldier on a Hightower server I used to play on for years that would use this combo, albeit with the Original instead of the Lib Launcher. It was devastating, there really wasn't a counter to it on a map like Hightower where teamwork is an afterthought.
For a second I thought you would be talking about the “rocket juggling” combo but instead you talked about a combo that ACTUALLY TOOK SKILL
Such as air shots
@@greenoftreeblackofblue6625 if you count basic calculation based prediction as a skill then yes it’s as skilled as all of snipers primaries are not
Edit: I used are not instead of aren’t, so I edited it to avoid any confusion on my stance

@@GoodlyData86596 what fuckin' rocket science are you using to play tf2
@@thisdude4701 kinda late but it isn’t rocket science it’s just soldiers of every skill level subconsciously going “hey isn’t kinda weird how once someone is in mid air, they can’t change what direction the are going outside of turning left/right at consistent angles unless the have a double jump or a blast jump at their disposal” then they put one and one together and “hmmm now that I think about it all those times I have shot at peoples feet, they usually (“usually” doesn’t mean “always” contrary to popular belief) get launched straight into the air…” then the put two and two together “maybe I can combine those two observations together to nearly guarantee a direct hit on anyone I launched into the air by simply predicting were they will go because their movement is restricted in the air and thus their mixup/escape options are limited to the point where I can easily accommodate for all possible options and thus will be able to reliably predict/adjust-for their movement in air with a degree of guarantee that is simply not their when they are grounded resulting in me going for splash damage most of the time and only going for direct hits when I know I have enough confidence in where the enemy will move next, but with this new strategy now all I need to do in order to make someone’s movements very predictable is to launch them straight (roughly 70-110 degrees) in the air with a rocket at their feet to limit their freedom of movement this combined with the splash damage they took getting launched into the air, the direct hit, then the subsequent fall damage may be enough to reliably kill someone unless they can kill me first but even then if I aimed my 2nd rocket roughly right then fired the rocket before my death then I will still kill them” of course I’m only using this degree of explanation to point out what most soldiers will easily and subconsciously realize that you think would be so hard to 1. Figure out and 2. Put this realization into practice to raise their average k/d ratio by 3
Can't wait to see this combo be used everywhere

I will never recover from this.
Seems like this sort of combo with the panic attack or reserve shooter would be a fantastic roaming soldier load out. Finding isolated enemies returning to the front from spawn and ambushing them at close range to reset their respawning timer
You could take advantage of the reduced self damage and switch your melee to the MG to be a pseudo trolldier as well.
I have been doing this combo for a while, except it's with stock/cow mangler. It's actually really fun and effective in close range. The problem with the loadout I used was that airblasting pyros would still get me. With the discovery of this load out, this may help mitigate my one weakness.
Haha whip goes brrrrr
I just wanna know the minds of people seeing soldier shotgun swap like he's speedrunning doom.
I've always done this when I have any shotgun as soldier. People get shredded as rockets and shotgun pellets come flying at the same time. I honestly think the shotgun is great after the first rocket, anything with 150 hp or less dies in one rocket and shotgun round.
TF2 Players: The Liberty Launcher is so bad!
Also them 5 seconds after using it:
The part about this that's funniest to me is that I've done this combo with the stock launcher a lot already, and it's nuts lol.
stock lover when someone use not spawn and become successful
(he have/will copy the same load out but switch his primary to stock )
This is why i like the liberty launcher, because it's not great on it's own, but when paired with a shotgun like the panic attack or reserve shooter (y'know, that one shotgun that was actually made to be paired with the liberty that everyone forgot existed once pyro couldn't use it with his airblast), it is a fantastic combo starter
LL + buff banner = 5 regular damage faster firing rockets
pressing Q will switch you to previous weapon
and if you have a mouse with extra buttons on sides
you can rebind them to extra mouse buttons for easier switching
this is just a theory ofcourse so i will have to try out.
a Woolen Sleevelet has a config/script for most classes where you click mouse one for primary and mouse two for secondary, just removes the pressing q for switching with just a button
also for example with Soldier, you press m2 for shotgun, you press m2 to shoot as well and vice versa
ua-cam.com/video/cRGW4a1K_Io/v-deo.html
pls do not bully pyros with this loadout thank u
Nah I'm doing it.
Yeah screw pyros
Thanks for the idea, I will now proceed to use this to exclusively target Pyro. I will have my revenge for every health kit wasted recovering from a single scorch shot.
This is why the best kind of play includes variety, I will proceed to teach this to new players to give them a brutal, but efficient way to learn flik combos as well as countering airblast heavy pyros, this is also good for us pyros, we get to practice the liberty some more!
@@nts0n that's...terrible to hear (the scorch shot part)

Did that Spy tried to Spycrab midair?
Damn, the power move.
dude i literally KNEW this gun was meant to be a combo weapon
Genius combo. For the liberty launcher, using the speed of a direct hit rocket while retaining the splash of a regular rocket is perfect. And the panic attack. The switch speed and fixed shots give quick reliable damage. Much better than a reserve shooter. Perfect combo in my eyes.
“You are not defined by your hairline.”
-Bilbo Baggins
Yes.
I think this was planned to be the combo that went with the liberty launcher and the reserve shooter as they are a set
i think the number of crits you got is a sign that it actually has really good dps even though its hard to reasonably estimate for actual gameplay with a splash damage weapon and the panic attack
7:42 you forgot to add a fart sound effect
Has a little more sustain and is better for killing a small group of light classes one after the other but... Ya
Sounds like a skill issue to me buddy.
One day you'll break out of the meta slave mentality.
@@FelipeJaquez The liberty launcher is literally inferior on a mathematical level to literally every single rocket launcher in the game.
One day you'll break out of the contrarian mentality.
holy shit this is amazing thank you it works so well
0:16 and thats relatvle to 68 million people from 1927 to 1987
This loadout completely straddles the line between gimmick and viable.
Love the vids
i think you should try this with the air strike because the reason to use the liberty launcher was an extra rocket, but with the air strike you can have many extra rockets
*Wait,* you could also just press "Q" to swap between the weapons much quicker!
he is doing that
the numbers are faster
I bound my mouse to have mouse wheel up select primary, mouse wheel down for melee, and the forward side button (near left-click) was jump. And then the side button closer to my wrist selected secondary. I was mainly a Degreaser Pyro and a rocket-jumping Soldier, so I needed fast weapons switch. You can just hold down left mouse during the switch, and the weapon would fire as soon as it was ready (no scripting or mashing necessary).
Great video!
Welcome back! Pokemon Black and White music goes so hard
This combo is literally playing doom eternal abusing the weapon switch to shoot faster and deal more damage quickly
At 5AM, that managed to be the single funniest thing on Earth.
instead of spam switching a lot of the kills here couldve been achieved with two stock rockets followed by a panic attack shot after if needed
takes basically the same amount of time
Yes but it’s not as funny
Wait, others are just finding this out? I once shredded a Medic by hitting him with my pan, launched him away with my stock rocket launcher, then finished him off with my Panic Attack. I should give the Liberty Launcher a try though!
10:06 for a moment there i thought you accidentally revealed your aim assist cheats on screen
I forget I have a wireless mouse these days lol
You made an old player that saw the liberty launcher as a huge guilty pleasure (to resist, as that fifth rocket is basically a drug but everything else is eh) happy. The panic attack is also a shotgun i really liked but didn't use much, i haven't felt this excited to try something new in tf2 in years.
Comboing like this has existed forever even on Soldier, this isn't hidden tech it's common knowledge to people who actually play TF2.
The average soldier player is too used to hideously large blast radius of course their finally evolving
"From a neglected game"
I’m 3:13 in, and wouldn’t the Direct Hit and Reserve Shooter serve the same purpose and be even more lethal, not accounting for tighter aiming requirements?
I guess this loadout would be a great learning tool for the DH RS combo since it is more forgiving.
Edit: Originally typed Rescue Ranger XD
You mean the "Reserve Shooter" right? Rescue Ranger is the engineer primary that heals and grabs buildings.
@@toastman41000ml shoot. Yes. Lmao. Reserve shooter.
You would have to reload way more often, so probably not.
rescue ranger? that is an engie exclusive weapon
3:06 soatge transition??????
I ALWAYS loved the liberty launcher. The fast rockets is a great perk, with this combo it's even better
Why did he say the n word on 7:20
I've been playing a slightly altered version of this for a while.
I see it as a good balance of everything:
7 total shots means I can sustain fights more than just a stock rocket launcher's 4.
Black box means I can heal a bit and survive longer.
Reserve shooter acts as a pseudo-counter to pyro
And my playstyle of 1 black box rocket to launch opponents followed by a quick reserve minicrit, allows for decent burst damage (albeit not as much as liberty+panic in close range), but, it's enough to 1 hit light classes, and functions better mid-long range since reserve shooter suffers less bullet spread than panic attack (while still having some switch-to speed) and can minicrit, which has absolutely 0 damage falloff.
It does get some getting used to in order to pull off consistently, but I give you this, it's a good all-rounder. Give it a try.
(replace the black box with stock if you want more damage and the map has lots of health packs/medics)
Any combo is good when your shotgun aim is this good. Well done!
the liberty launcher here definitely has its merits over stock, and honestly could be optimal.
Only downside I could see is that you'd spend a lot of time reloading when the time comes.
hey i know the mvp at 6:59! i did his profile art!
small world
This seems like a really fun loadout and also a good pyro counter
I’ve been trying out this combo lately, and I’m shocked at how fun and effective it is. I think the Liberty Launcher’s extra rocket and speed are what make it work, because you can switch to the Panic Attack and shoot right when the rocket hits the enemy, and do that more times before reloading. It’s a great roamer loadout, at least for me.
I've been using this combo whenever i play soldier for awhile
Which admittedly is not very often
But is often enough that i have a strange liberty launcher and a strange panic attack
Prepare for pubs being flooded with this loadout
this video re-introduced me to combo-ing. Felt like they've been nerfed into the ground in recent years, but its still very fun
I see.
Liberty Launcher for more rockets to spam and for when you miss some,
The Panic Attack because of the Fast Switch Speed and Fixed Spread,
Escape Plan to, well, escape, so you can reload both guns to prepare for the next combo spam.
I love how this load out uses the panic attack and not the reserve shooter
another use of the liberty launcher is that if you mix it with the gunboats, since both have self damage reduction which stack, you have essentially a half committed troldier. You can rocket jump while receiving way less damage from each jump and still fire rockets that do damage.
Love the copious amounts of keyboard and mouse clicking sounds
I love how at 10:00 you said to the medic your dead, proceeded to not show him killing the medic
Ngl that was some funking gross combos mate I think this is my favourite video so far
I feel like the real strat with this is using the liberty launcher to jump into close range, land a panic attack shot as you’re bombing in, then continue from there.
I’ve been using this strat for while before this vid was made, I thought this was already well know
I have been using this combo for a while, thank you for making it main stream maxo:D
I feel like there's gonna be more combo soldiers now on pubs and casuals.

Big Max is back! You love to see it. Waiting on that video on the best weapon, the short circuit
So your telling me I concocted the a broken new meta 6 years ago and never hit a shot like 0 kills on my liberty launcher and panic attack and then left the game? Well bite my ass mate i cant believe this!
return of the king! the SFM bits are a nice added touch 😎
these weapons have been out for almost 11 years and people are still discovering new ways to play
Holy shit incredible editing, you really weren't exaggerating
"Soldier Has A Secretly Broken Combo"
Yeah, Pocket Medic + Soldier
It makes sense. Soldier builds tend to have either have a stock rocket launcher or direct hit with some sort sort of banner or gunboats with the escape plan or displinary action, whereas with this loadout, you basically have really good switch speed, automatically have gunboats (beacuase of the liberty launcher), one extra rocket, and flexible rocket jumping potential. The combo makes sense.
the nice thing about the panic attack is that it looks like hes panicking when using it
This guy has some of the best video game ost for background music
Pyro degreeser and panic attack combo: finally our battle will be legendary
It’s funny cause I was using stock rockets and stock shotgun on MGE with my brother and I thought how I could make it more broken. And you did it. Great vid! Your editing has gotten miles better, those 50 cans of monster really helped. Keep up the great work!
8:20 thats a good market gardener there
this but with the black box is really good because it makes up for the crappy rocket capacity while keeping the stupid healing mechanic
ah Sky High smitten, my go to Kirby track. lovely addition to the vid!
