I was surprised by how decent it actually was and given that i liked it's design I went ahead to get a strange variant. I use it on my pyro all the time
I've found the panic attack is rather good for a gunslinger engie with a more supportive play style (concentrating on teles, dispensers and covering flanks more than making people dead) as more often than not, you use your primary in an emergency where the faster switch could save your life. On top of that, supportive engie fights often last shorter than regular battle engie encounters where an ordinary shotty would probably be better. Though, the shotgun will always be my go to. It fits my play style of "make enemy die" more than keeping a nest up. (also i'm loving the new videos)

@GLITCH Long asf but I'll tackly the interesting bit: why wouldn't pyro work as an ambusher or flanker? Equip the backburner and backscratcher and you'll have a pretty good time terrorizing unprepared enemies.
I seen this type of blinding fire only once outside tf2. In a small Chinese game, flamethrowers deal small damage (28 points every second, base hp is 200, while the shotgun can one hit kill), but they slow down both the attacker and the victim and you cant see anything, especialy the attacker.

I was literally just talking with someone about how your panic attack video is outdated and a new one should come out literally yesterday, guys I have a DIRECT TELEPATHIC LINK TO UNCLE DANE
since the panic attack is a secondary, the engineer can just use a few phds or two to put it in his second slot and duel wield a panic attack and rescue ranger
i was looking to see if someone else commented on this!! more people need to use the ror/ror2 soundtrack in videos, i never realized until now that it works crazy well in this context
I LOVED the old Panic Attack's loony style. Fleeing while low on health, ducking around a corner, and _evaporating_ a pursuer with a charged spray of shells was so damn fun! Regardless of how actually effective it was, it stood out! I enjoy the new one too... but now it's just another shotgun with slightly different stats. A shame.
But still good and the weapon isn't dead cause it still efficient. Unless the sandman which was killed in the jungle inferno update and now that weapon sucks, now that's a real shame
It was funny in concept, but looking back, the forced mechanic of shoving ammo into a gun frantically felt.. Wrong, for a shotgun. Just didn’t feel right to me.
Seeing that the new panic attack has a wider, fixed spread, it should be renamed to: The security blanket, seeing that you can take comfort in its reliability and consistancy.
Dane, you ignoring the biggest issue: It has a huge-ass drum up front, yet it holds the _same amount of shells._ Edit: I get the feeling most of you have no idea how shotgun rounds work...
@@landoplayz9774 That's 'cuz it's made of aluminum. Same reason it's able to build faster and swing faster, but it just don't have the mass to do heavy damage on hit.
This design worked with the old stats, I always imagined the user forgetting to load itand the moment they pull It out and having a "panic attack" trying to fire it at a threat.
One of my favorite loadouts for hightower is the rocket jumper, market gardner or escape plan, and then the panic attack. Jumping in on people and firing the panic attack is so fun.

Ror2 music, I see you're a man of culture as well. Also, great video. I've been using panic attack for the last 2-3 months instead of shotgun on pyro and soldier (I dont really play that much engie, and when I do, its always Widowmaker) and I agree with almost everything in the video, its a really good and balanced sidegrade to default shotgun, rewarding more risky plays with more damage, ...but I don't think its a better shotgun in casual, its a great sidegrade, but just cause in a clusterf*** that is casual 12v12, you cant always go CQC (look at all those chokepoints) so the default does more dmg (even if you account in how random spread can screw you over) at mid range. P.S. I hope short circuit payload huggers wont be more common now, I hate this strat.
Funny thing is, the Engineer in RoR 2 is 50% Demoman, since he has a grenade launcher and sticky traps. A character called the Captain behaves more like TF2’s engineer since he carries a shotgun and can call down dispensers.
@@anonylemon9823 Yeah, I know. I have an excessive amount of hours in that game. Engineer Risk of Rain 2 is still best at locking down a specific area, especially with the default loadout.
With the exception of Lemmino, they upload every 4 months but when they do, well the comment section is full of people saying this should be a Netflix thing
Bro when you spent a third of the video talking about the short circuit you actually made me forget i was watching a panic attack video and when you abruptly switched to talking about it i was very confused
"Have you ever been wrong?" "Have you ever gone on a massive tangent?" "Have you ever danced with the devil in the pale moonlight?" "Ya like jazz?" Maybe it was a bad thing, then. It´s not like the Pyro would fire to a Sniper just to deny his view or something
Well it was a terrible design philosophy. I play pyro. The two changes I hated from the Jungle Inferno update were the changes to airblast, and the flame particles being so opaque. Thing is, I got used to the new airblast, but to this day I still have my issues with the flame particles. It's like flash banging yourself along with the enemy. Especially in tight corridors and halls, everything just becomes hard to see. At least the enemy has the chance to run away if they see a giant ball of fire going towards them, I can only pray someone is near by in those situations. Not to mention, airblasting becomes difficult to time when using it in conjunction with the primary fire. And if your enemy is smart enough, they can fire projectiles in your blindspot, giving you a lower chance to reflect. It's nothing more than an inconveniences most of the time, but it's still annoying, and unnecessary.
@Shasvin Puvanesvaran No, you can taste your stigma about other people. You can´t "feel" an emotion just by reading, normally when a text makes you feel something it´s because you, the reader, are wanting to feel that way. That being said, fuck you.
I love revisiting Danes video after i become a better player, now i really understand that you really often arent ready for battle, and switch speed is insanelly cool!
Its been 5 years since the last time I played TF2 and got back into it a month ago. I still remember the Panic Attack having an auto-fire and how fun TF2 is.
I was sitting for a solid 3 minutes thinking where I heard the horns from 12:08, then it hit me. Much like a Hinox does in Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Great video btw, Uncle Dane!
As a scout main, if i can survive the next fight with the amount of health i have (AKA im not 1 shot from most weapons) I'll let everyone else get the health pack. Scout isnt as important as, say, a medic or heavy in a fight so I'll let people get their health topped off before me.

I hear that Risk of Rain music. Respect; one of my favorite soundtracks in gaming.
I agree but i feel wierd when i hear it
i was looking to see if someone else commented on this!! more people need to use the ror/ror2 soundtrack in videos, i never realized until now that it works crazy well in this context
Impressed easily
Yes
That is a name I haven't heard in years.
A shame.
GAGAGAGAGAGA!!! I want to cut my toe nails... NEVER! I am the feet UA-camr. Thanks for being a fan, dear po

Dane, you ignoring the biggest issue:
It has a huge-ass drum up front, yet it holds the _same amount of shells._
Edit:
I get the feeling most of you have no idea how shotgun rounds work...
The jag has a well a jagged spike on the end yet it does less damage than stock
@@landoplayz9774 That's 'cuz it's made of aluminum. Same reason it's able to build faster and swing faster, but it just don't have the mass to do heavy damage on hit.
@@Argonwolfproject science
I would say the reason is because that contains that shell with the bonus 5 bullets for each shot. But that’s just a theory I have
This design worked with the old stats, I always imagined the user forgetting to load itand the moment they pull It out and having a "panic attack" trying to fire it at a threat.
“Wait panic attack is good...” “All ways has been” *fires a perfectly accurate shotgun blast into his back in space*
One of my favorite loadouts for hightower is the rocket jumper, market gardner or escape plan, and then the panic attack. Jumping in on people and firing the panic attack is so fun.
13:34, RIP Joey, the engineer was ready for heavy.
Bro that chord at the beginning got me like " Hey, you're finally awake."

i like it tbh. a good buff would be if either the enemy or the user was on fire it would crit.
Ror2 music, I see you're a man of culture as well.
Also, great video. I've been using panic attack for the last 2-3 months instead of shotgun on pyro and soldier (I dont really play that much engie, and when I do, its always Widowmaker) and I agree with almost everything in the video, its a really good and balanced sidegrade to default shotgun, rewarding more risky plays with more damage,
...but I don't think its a better shotgun in casual, its a great sidegrade, but just cause in a clusterf*** that is casual 12v12, you cant always go CQC (look at all those chokepoints) so the default does more dmg (even if you account in how random spread can screw you over) at mid range.
P.S. I hope short circuit payload huggers wont be more common now, I hate this strat.
I wonder if Uncle Dane plays Engineer in Risk of Rain 2 as well.

"Have you ever gone on a massive tangent?"
"Have you ever danced with the devil in the pale moonlight?"

Maybe it was a bad thing, then. It´s not like the Pyro would fire to a Sniper just to deny his view or something
Doesn't mean its good. Also that explanation is a decade old, I think expectations have changed.
