2 questions- The $8.58 you pay- does that then give you another year ownership of the domain (on top of any remaining time left) Or do you have to pay again on the date of expiration (the expiration date you had at the previous host)? Most are showing warning signs as if my site is not secured, the links with out "www" from my old host (Namecheap), while the ones with" www" on godaddy do open and without problem. Never heard of Big Cartel. In general, use a domain name registrar for all your domains. Then it's no problem moving that domain name for different services. So if I was you, I would transfer to Namecheap.
So I think I screwed up everything. I could not transfer my domain from GoDaddy to Weebly (where I've built my new website). GoDaddy was no help. So they suggested transferring somewhere else. So I went with Namecheap and succeeded. Then I read that Namecheap does not support transferring domains outside of its own name server infrastructure. Does that mean I'm screwed and cannot transfer my domain to Weebly? Or anywhere else? If yes, why would you recommend Namecheap without make that clear?

I would never keep my domains at weebly. I use Namecheap personally for all my domains.
