Just navigate to your website files via FTP or (File Manager). You don't need to change the name of the database, because if you followed the steps as I've done in the video the wp-config should already be created with the new names. But you do need to change the PREFIX to the old one from the new one. Let me explain why this happens. 1. You create a "blank" website it autocreates a database and config file. It links everything together. 2. You enter inside the database and delete all of the information there, then change it with the old info. (Since you're only changing the CONTENT of the database, not importing it from scratch you don't need to change the database name in config) 3. However, the database PREFIX won't match now and it's part of the content so the only thing you need to update is the config. If you follow the steps in the video exactly it should work no problems :) It's kinda hard to explain this via text.

You need to transfer the whole website. But before that make sure you're actually optimizing your website and content. Hostgator isn't a particularly fast hosting company but it can be optimized for an okay result. Don't spend more money before trying to solve your problem, do the research, see what helps. Is there a way I can migrate my website to another hosting provider using the same website name and domain only with WP, without name servers because the previous guy that works for the company I am going to now doesn't want to give us access to the old web hosting provider. And then I just put the old files into the new containers. But the config file still looks for the "new" names so you have to change that.
So a question, if you have sub domains, is it the same process? what about email set up and passwords? set up a new subdomain and recreate everything? then upload site files and connect to database?

There's absolutely no difference in what you transfer first. I usually transfer my website files then the domain to have a little bit less downtime on my website.
I have migrated from dreamhost to bluehost while keeping domain same from dreamhost only using your steps. After i changed my DNS named servers in dreamhost i started getting SSL certificate warning and if i click proceed i am getting 404. That's probably a limitation of the control panel your host is using. You can bypass that by using a program like FIlezilla to connect to your FTP account directly and upload the files that way.

They keep changing the "limit" but it has nothing to do with the plugin. Its just a PHP file transfer setting (you can even change it yourself at any time). So it should work no problem

How long does it take for nameserver to update? - what to do with transactions that still got processed on the hold database during the DNS updating period? Any suggestions, pointers to and of these questionsß

I usually have them buy a web hosting account that they give me access to it. And I immediately build a site on that account (no need to transfer) Or I host it on my VPS and I charge the client a monthly fee for hosting & administrating ( since theyll still need some updates/ fixes / etc). But in your specific case, you can transfer the site. Then point your domain DNS to the new server IP. If you used a personal elementor pro account itll keep the existing functionality. But if you need to change something using it again. Youll need to deactivate your licence and activate it on that account. But be careful this is a "workaround" and elementor caught on they started limiting the amount of times you can switch which website the plan is connected to

Oh yeah you 100% can. I assumed you create the sites on your own test hosting. But keep in mind that you'll (well you're clients) need a domain name for it to work outside of your local host. Like websitename.com. So, its a seperate purchase and if you would go to that domain name settings there's an option to "link" it to a specific server. So, it displays files from that server. This is called pointing an A record via your DNS.

When you create a new instance you'll need to create login information (it can be the same as your old site, but you still need to create it) The way these WordPress logins are handled is "per instance". So, 2 multiple sites can have the exact same login info. Every website has its own WordPress instance installed, so while the login information can be the same. You'll see info in regards to that specific site when you log in. Hope this clears it up a bit.

How long does it take to realize that you haven't migrated your email accounts? What do you do if you realize it after the original hosting service closes your account? It didn't happen to me but very few migration tutorials ever mention email.
Now I'm clear that we have 2 methods for migration. I was confused that some UA-camrs use plugins to migrate while others do it manually. We can do this manually whether the website's size is more than 500MB or not. Excellent tutorial but I have a suggestion please slow down a bit it may mess up things for those who don't know much about WordPress
I suggest pausing the video where needed. Do the step, then unpausing Sorry for going fast. Everyone is so used to content being 10s, if you dont go fast now, its impossible to make it on UA-cam
Hey Nina, you could try downloading your backups and then migrating the website without backups. Then using a plugin like UpDraft to put the backups where they belong :) Or just use the 2nd method, it's unlimited.
Wix is a website builder, not a web hosting company. It's part of their "scheme" to not allow users move their website files elsewhere. So at least for now it's impossible to move your website from Wix.

When I extract the file I only have a .wpress in my file manager, but no folders, what am I doing wrong?
The .wpress file is generated by allin1migration you need to use the plugin (import function) if you want to extract these files

No, you can cancel it. Because you'll have a plan on Hostinger and you'll be using Hostinger servers

Thanks Emit! I'm a little confused about something: When you log in to the newly installed WordPress, do you create a new login or use your old WordPress login? If it's the same login, can you use this to edit several different domains with the same WordPress login? Thanks
When you create a new instance you'll need to create login information (it can be the same as your old site, but you still need to create it)
The way these WordPress logins are handled is "per instance". So, 2 multiple sites can have the exact same login info.
Every website has its own WordPress instance installed, so while the login information can be the same. You'll see info in regards to that specific site when you log in.
Hope this clears it up a bit.

How to you figure out the size of your website- if its under or over 500MB?
You can download the website files using, Allin1 migration plugin and just see how much it takes up.
How long does it take to realize that you haven't migrated your email accounts? What do you do if you realize it after the original hosting service closes your account? It didn't happen to me but very few migration tutorials ever mention email.

You can transfer your elementor accounts anytime u want. Just change the domain you're using their service on within the settings on their website

Now I'm clear that we have 2 methods for migration. I was confused that some UA-camrs use plugins to migrate while others do it manually. We can do this manually whether the website's size is more than 500MB or not. Excellent tutorial but I have a suggestion please slow down a bit it may mess up things for those who don't know much about WordPress

Hey Nina, you could try downloading your backups and then migrating the website without backups. Then using a plugin like UpDraft to put the backups where they belong :) Or just use the 2nd method, it's unlimited.

Wix is a website builder, not a web hosting company. It's part of their "scheme" to not allow users move their website files elsewhere. So at least for now it's impossible to move your website from Wix.
