@@anon17472 It was cold blooded murder. She was not an imminent threat of death or serious bodily injury to anyone. He shot her from the side outside her field of view. She was unarmed. Zero effort to arrest her (a barely 5 foot woman) without lethal force. She could have been restrained without deadly force. He is a murderer. Look at this situation in comparison to Floyd. He was arrested without lethal force but he tried to escape and acted crazy obviously requiring restraint. The restraint may or may not have caused his death (he had several other possible causes of death). The amount of pressure on him was no measurable, but regardless whatever the exact facts it was almost certainly not intentional. Byrd pointed the gun and fired execution style. If he could not restrain her without killing her, he had no business being a cop. Murderer.

I have to disagree with Officer Edwards. She is undoubtedly a hero: an ordinary person who, through some cosmic twist of fate, finds themselves in a situation where the fates of others, be it their familes, their friends, complete strangers, or entire nations, are at stake, and find it within themselves to do what is right.

Hutchinson was there. They played video of her previous testimony and then live testimony of her new information, and it was intercut throughout. That technique allows historians and everyone, really, to understand the sequence of the information revelations, for one thing. For another, it breaks up the monotony of watching it. You didn't watch the hearing if you don't know she was there giving live testimony throughout. Which is ok, but, just know that your impression is incorrect.
Because this is political theater. This is not a judicial process, and these are no judges.

I have always felt either a sense of being alert around a cop not to make mistakes or happy that a cop is there nearby to keep me save. Never have I even dreamt of assaulting an officer who swore to protect us as long as we are lawful. The spirit of the law and the letter of the law are different things and it has been like this since inception and cannot be fixed.

Do you want to live in a country where insurrection, and deadly riots are "legitimate political discourse" (RNC definition of Jan. 6), or a country where insurrection and riots are treated as "the culmination of an attempted coup and a brazen attempt ... to overthrow the government"? Why does the GOP continue to rally around Trump? The party would be so much better off, have a much easier future-where they win elections-if they just accept the facts, and treat Trump as they did Nixon. But it's too late. The GOP has sealed its fate: a split between those who are honest, rational Conservatives seeking Conservative values in a civil discussion, and those who are extreme, fascist Conservatives who seek hard right values in a manner that involves violent, seditious acts (like a coup). In the words of Stan Greenberg, "for decades, the GOP has seen itself in an uncompromising struggle against a new America", saying that the GOP is dooming itself by being divided against itself. "RIP GOP", soon we will have two separate factions of Conservatives in this nation: the rational, who can have a reasonable discussion about their beliefs, and the extremists, whose solution to losing is "We Didn't lose, it was rigged!". To me that sounds like authoritarianism. The idea that "what we say is right, and if it's wrong we'll change the information you get so we are right". In George Orwell's (Eric Blaire) 1984, it describes a character who cannot distinguish fact from fiction, because the government just changes the facts to fit their needs. This is exactly what we see from certain factions of Trump worshipping Conservatives. The GOP must abandone Donald John Trump immediately if they have any hope of continuing to hold power in this Nation.

@@mjn55128 hearings also regularly have the other side too. Dont get me wrong the first part with testimony from former Trump campaign staff and white house staff is disturbing. But the second part with testimony from witnesses that they had pre-written, while I don't doubt the validity of what they said, is political theater.

I’ve only watched till 52:28 (the end of Cheney’s introductory speech), and wow what a speaker she is. The gravity of the topic at hand is felt in her words, and the story-the argument-she builds up is all-the-more affecting because of her sober presentation.

If you listened carefully to the video, both the VP and the Majority Leader of Congress called Trump, his advisors, and even his daughter and son-in-law . . . but Trump would not call anyone to move in and stop the violence. Even Shaun Hannity called and tweeted . . . but nothing from the ex-Pres Trump.
