+Caroline Withington Kids do stuff "just because" all the time. They never have an answer when you ask them why they did something! LOL When we become responsible adults we lose that and it's tragic. I think we can be responsible AND play for no reason!
I enjoy your "for no reason"projects the most I think. They give me permission to do things that "just make me happy" rather than thinking everything must have a purpose! Thanks for sharing! (I like the "just because journal" for the name)
Don't worry about being in something of a slump - I was reading an article about highly creative people and those periods of intense creativity are frequently followed by a period of recharging. Something great is bound to come forth! Besides, your videos are appreciated for their entertainment value alone! You almost hit that glue bottle with your brush without even noticing it was still there!
+plicketyplunk That's for sure! I've always had a box of paper scraps on hand and when Taylor was little I'd give her the box and a glue stick and she'd sit for hours, happily gluing one piece of paper to another for no good reason. Maybe she was my inspiration :)
I don't do drop cloths except when I use the gelli plate. I think I'll start doing that for the express purpose of having pages to stitch together. Also, I buy boxes of cat food that have small pieces of cardboard inside, which will make great covers. I have a pile of these so it's time to make some books for no reason.
These are the best journals! I no longer feel guilty about my love for gluing paper to paper :) Maybe this should be the Upside Down and Crooked Journal!
I love your crazy mind, Shannon, you get me!! You're inspiring me to love my own quirkish packrat nature and find in it some ways to create beauty and art from my rubbish! Thank you for sharing!!! Now off to my mess I go...
OMG, Shannon! Every time I see you making one of these new journals I think, I need to do that! I have little baskets of stuff like that stacked up in my art room that I'm too lazy to put away. I need to put them in a book. Brilliant idea.
+Shannon Green I have an old Ms magazine I'm using for my collection of stuff. I had to reinforce the stapled binding with glued strips of tissue paper and I took out some uninteresting pages. Now I'm having so much fun sticking stuff in there.
I call mine, My TrashPad Art Journal. I filled one last year in an old sketch book - this year I am taking a cue from +Cat Hand and gluing bits and slapping paint in a composition book. nice journal!!! You have me collecting cereal bags now!!!
i was watching i think someone who was making pages out of scraps, so i thought id try that...but after 4pages i thought...man im done with this, fiddly etc. but then those pages turned into an eclectic journal, with what ever i wanted!!! enjoying it now. will post a vid next week
Glad to see you starting a project. OM Goodness, can I relate to making a mess. I move between doing a project where I have pulled out all-sorts of stuff until I can't bear it any more, so I have to tidy up. Then it starts all over again, sigh! Is this the lot of a crafter? LOL! Anyway, have fun with your 'stuff'.
I love these scrappy, junky, trashy journals...they are my favorite, and I think the most fun. I am looking forward to seeing your process in this. Looks awesome so far....Great idea and I will be staying tuned and anxiously awaiting to see what more you do or when you have completed it. Thank you for sharing...Now i'm itching to start a new one myself and haven't even finished the one I've been working on...crazy huh, but so very fun:)
I haven't been feeling creative. A lovely lady I email with hasn't been feeling "it" either. There must be something in the air! I love that you are using your stuff up! Purpose or no purpose its fun to use it up! I want to thank you for what you said about throwing things away. I fight with guilt about throwing things away. The problem is I am TERRIFIED of becoming a hoarder so I MUST throw away. I am primarily a card maker. I make 50 to 100 cards a month. Mostly for church or the USO. I spend a few minutes writing a hand written message in every USO card. I am also a wife and mother. I need to be brutally honest about my energy levels and throw stuff away! Thank you for what you said!
Hi Shannon if you ever find that you have too much "scrap/painted paper I would swap it for fresh paper or something else that within reason that you might like! Just saying. I don't use paint at this point in my craftiness. Thanks for your ideas!! 💖🙋🏼🎨🖌🌺💖
Hi Shannon, as I'm watching the video I'm thinking about all of the drop papers, stacks of kraft paper & packing paper that I have been tripping over for the last month. :D Thanks for helping me know what's to do with all the stuffage!
I too have this and don't know what to do thank you for this it was very nice, I keep everything and laugh if I would DIE tomorrow what would some one think ????? but you get it and so do many here thank you again
Use a rubber(?) glove like Doctors use, they grip the needle and makes pulling through hard places very easy!!!! I am a quilter ( or as) and man did it help hold onto the needle!!!
Thanks for sharing Shannon! Love it. Take care of yourself and I hope you get your Mojo back soon. In the meantime...winter is coming. LOL. I may just end every comment that way...;)
Love journals for no reason I have a few like that , I hope to start a glue/collage book as soon as my craft room is back to normal as at the moment it's been used for storage :-(
i do this a lot with my big junk journal...anything i'm too lazy to sort or throw away in the trash by my feet (its just too much effort), I just glue it in the book hahaha. also i think we use the same brush for our glue at the moment, lol!
+Sugar That is my favorite brush EVER! You're always good about using scraps and bits so I included a link to one of your videos in my video description. This junky journaling seems to be really catching on!
+Shannon Green Its a fabulous brush! and oh my gosh thank you! I'm so excited people are liking these kinds of journals because I can't get enough videos of them lol!
Love this Shannon. I have one already in the process!! A few days ago I started cutting pages out of it to make postcards with. Hope to have my video out soon! Chat soon! Xxoo
+Karen Bonham The job hunt is excruciating and depressing! Jayson has applied for literally hundreds of jobs, some at half the pay and still nothing. Things will work out eventually!
Enjoy watching and hearing about your thought process. I am trying to come up with a process to have a bulky book level from binding to edge of page. Have you ever done this?
Maybe if you look back at past videos or friend mail videos you'll see something you got that gave you an idea at that time and when you see it again it may remind you. Or try looking at videos that you aren't subscribed to to get ideas or look through some old art books.....ok ok I'll shut up. Good luck with your slump and I'm looking forward to your next video (no pressure).
Thanks for another simple inspiring idea. I always enjoy them. Had you thought about "bleaching" a variety of papers to see what would happen? It might be a fun experiment that turns into a new type of ...? Best Wishes as always
LOL regarding the Mod Podge/diluted Elmer's glue! I guess you are a Mod Podge gal at heart :0) BTW, I love listening to your accent. You could make paint drying not boring at all!
How do you have time to do all this... I have a lot of disabilities which get in the way of my life so trying to keep up with friends family then my crafts is over whelming and now you are giving me so many more ideas lol love you your so talented love your videos keep them coming
Every time I get bored seeing the saaaaame journals made with the saaaaame little girl looking over her shoulder and the saaaame scrap book papers and the saaaaame digital kits, I come to your channel to get re-energised! Only you would spend five minutes telling us about the glue you're going to use but then pick up the wrong bottle and use something else. Only you would tell us how ugly that baby wipe is and then proceed to glue it to your journal page lol. I need a dose of Shannon every day 😄😃💚💙💜
I could make my own library with all of the stuff I've saved. Maybe you could call your new journal The Lost Mojo journal or The Blues Booklet....The Stress Reliever Chronicles? I've watched you many times doing these type of journals and it never gets old. It's easy and therapeutic and soothing so glue away. Maybe you could pick an emotion and do kind of like your en masse like carefree and find images for that or safe or frightened. Whatever you do, we'll watch you, lady. : )
Always love all that you do. Shannon, please help me. I have a few gorgeous hard cover books from 1950s very large and want to use for journaling or glue book. How should I get started? I don't want to take it all out and create signatures because then I won't do it. I want to use actual book and its pages. Do i cut pages out to make room? It is a gorgeous book with sewn in pages, signatures, real book binding. Please give me tips. Also please message me an address to mail you a book. I got these from the high school I work in and thought of you and Gina when I got them so be in the look out these next few weeks.
Thats the best reason ever "just do it for No Reason" tfs love and big hugs Caroline xxx
+Caroline Withington Kids do stuff "just because" all the time. They never have an answer when you ask them why they did something! LOL When we become responsible adults we lose that and it's tragic. I think we can be responsible AND play for no reason!
Awesome to see you doing some No reason stuff while you are in your art slump, miss not having you around to cheer my day, tfs Shannon
I enjoy your "for no reason"projects the most I think. They give me permission to do things that "just make me happy" rather than thinking everything must have a purpose! Thanks for sharing! (I like the "just because journal" for the name)
+Katie Goodale I'm so happy that these make you happy!!

You almost hit that glue bottle with your brush without even noticing it was still there!
+Regina Read LOL I am still stunned that it was RIGHT THERE and I didn't even notice it!
Funny about that box. I had one of those until it got married and had kids. Those "sort me" boxes breed!!
+plicketyplunk That's for sure! I've always had a box of paper scraps on hand and when Taylor was little I'd give her the box and a glue stick and she'd sit for hours, happily gluing one piece of paper to another for no good reason. Maybe she was my inspiration :)

+Susan LaCour Love it!!
I love your crazy mind, Shannon, you get me!! You're inspiring me to love my own quirkish packrat nature and find in it some ways to create beauty and art from my rubbish! Thank you for sharing!!! Now off to my mess I go...
So happy to hear that Jennifer, thanks for watching!
This entire box of stuff might make some neat food for Big Bertha!
ABsolutely!
Keep doing what makes you happy ... TFS cos you make so many of us happy. Love this idea ... Mimi
+kymdempsey It makes me happy to make you happy!
OMG, Shannon! Every time I see you making one of these new journals I think, I need to do that! I have little baskets of stuff like that stacked up in my art room that I'm too lazy to put away. I need to put them in a book. Brilliant idea.
+Sally Eeds I'm all for projects that keep me from having to clean and put stuff away!
+Shannon Green I have an old Ms magazine I'm using for my collection of stuff. I had to reinforce the stapled binding with glued strips of tissue paper and I took out some uninteresting pages. Now I'm having so much fun sticking stuff in there.

Always enjoy seeing you. Been thinking of you and hope things are going in the right direction.
+Jerry Jean Thomas Thank you so very much! We're still struggling but we know these struggles will be worth it in the end :)
Loving the sounds that the book makes....yummy!!!!
Yes!

+stampingchaylina Finish a journal? What's that??
Love me some "no reason" projects. Great for just unwinding. :)
+Lujean Martin I agree!
Disposal of disposable paper into something useful always has a reason.
+MR.VICTOR CRAFTER Well said!
The Just Because Journal.......lots of wonderful colors and textures to look at and add to just because........thank you so much for sharing
+Sharon Luebker Oh I like that. Or Jus' Cuz Journal. :)
I haven't been feeling creative. A lovely lady I email with hasn't been feeling "it" either. There must be something in the air!

The glue vs Mod Podge cracks me up!!!
Every time I hear someone say that adding water to white glue magically turns it to Mod Podge, I want to poke a sharp stick in my eye!
Really cool Miss Shannon ")
+Aquarius Artist Thank you!
Excellent idea, we all have bits and bobs that we are saving for that 'special' page, and yet we never use, so this is a good way to use it up. Tfs x
+Elizabeth Naisbitt That's the plan!
I have one of those boxes! I think I need my own journal for no reason! Thanks Shannon💜
+Louise EMB I think you do too!
I envy how you thread your needle with such ease. :)
+Ros Jones Well, to be honest that one had a big eye. :)
I find myself throwing less & less away so I love this idea to get rid of stuff without a guilty conscience!
+Faye Chilcoat It's a win-win!
Lol'ed with the second storyline of the glue. Added a whole new level of mystery to the process! =D
I'm definitely a "process" crafter. For me, it's all about the journey and If I get to my destination, well that's just a bonus!!
+sadiejosiemom High five sista!
Hi Shannon if you ever find that you have too much "scrap/painted paper I would swap it for fresh paper or something else that within reason that you might like! Just saying. I don't use paint at this point in my craftiness. Thanks for your ideas!! 💖🙋🏼🎨🖌🌺💖
I wondered about the stack of drop papers on your desk, It always sound soft and squishy.
I love the sounds in this video. My brain is tingling, lol. I have ASMR bad.
+theresa5 It doesn't make my brain tingle but it sure soothes my soul!
I know that one. : )
Just love it....I have collected so much I am going to have to do something like this!! Thanks for the fun!!
+Crystal Dragonfly Thanks for watching!
When I read the title of this video, it made me smile! This is a great name for your new, awesome journal! Enjoyed every minute! Thanks, girl! Debra
Even after my move I still have way too much STUFF! I am still saving collage bits and bobs! Great idea to put them in a journal for no reason!

+Crafting Vicky If you need to avoid doing chores...I'm your girl! Heh :)
Hi Shannon, as I'm watching the video I'm thinking about all of the drop papers, stacks of kraft paper & packing paper that I have been tripping over for the last month. :D Thanks for helping me know what's to do with all the stuffage!
